This cooking class was a truly unique and memorable experience! Chef Luigi was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Peruvian cuisine. Visiting the San Pedro Market was fascinating—we learned so much about local ingredients and their cultural significance. Back in the kitchen, the class was hands-on and engaging, and I picked up several techniques I likely wouldn’t have learned elsewhere. The food and drinks we prepared were absolutely delicious, and sharing the experience with fellow participants made it even more enjoyable. There were eight of us in the class—four from our group and four other travelers. Chris met us right on time and took us through the bustling San Pedro Market, introducing us to the many Peruvian fruits, spices, grains, breads, and cheeses used in local dishes. It was a wonderful way to begin, and we loved learning about ingredients we had never seen before.
We then returned to Chris’s studio with our purchases and took part in preparing every course. We started with a passion fruit pisco sour, then sliced the white fish and worked together to make the marinade for the ceviche. We did the same for the main course and dessert, with Chris guiding us throughout.
Chris was funny, knowledgeable, and clearly an accomplished chef. His setting is lovely: one room for preparing ingredients and cooking over an open flame, and another beautifully decorated room for enjoying the meal. His “kitchen fairy” assistant took care of all the dishes, so we could simply relax and enjoy the experience.
We left with full stomachs, new cooking skills, and wonderful memories. An incredible meal shared with great company—highly recommended!
We booked the tour 12 hours in advance, the night before. Chris accepted our booking and we were the only participants.
He gave a great San Pedro market tour and the Pisco+cooking workshop was very nice! It was so much fun and we learned a lot.
We had a little tour round the food market including trying chilli salted chocolate, which was very interesting. Then we went to the cooking class, made Pisco sour and a three course typical Peruvian meal, which was delicious with an engaging and entertaining chef. This was a wonderful experience.
Wonderful host. Very knowledgeable about the market offerings and food prep methods. Answered lots of questions from our group. The host made an alternative meal option for me due to allergy/food restrictions with no hesitation. Lots of food was offered. Left very full. Wonderful experience overall.
We had an awesome expierence, “PurvIan Cooking with Chris”! His knowledge through the market,
to the “hands on demo”, made for a great afternoon. The pace for the market tour and culinary instruction were both well thought out, and interesting! We enjoyed the three course luncheon, ceviche, risotto, style quinoa, and passionfruit style parfait, and of course the Pisco Sour was a total highlight of the day! We all agree, definitely a most fun and memorable activity, to be a true Peruvian for the day!
Great way to get to know the culture of a place. The market visit was fun and exciting and we saw and learnt about so many new things. The cooking session was brilliant - truly hands on - we actually did our own cooking - and Christian was the perfect guide and story teller….

Really fun experience. Peruvian cuisine is amazing overall and it is nice to have the chance to cook with a knowledgable guide. We started with shopping at the market which was also fun.
Super fun! Learned a lot about the history and culture of the food in Cusco and Peru. This was an awesome experience for my girlfriends and I! Highly recommend to those who enjoy cooking, and love food. You will not be disappointed.

What an amazing experience from start to finish. The market was very cool to see and it was fun to learn about all the different foods from all over Peru. Luigi was very knowledgeable and took all of our questions in stride. It was neat to buy some of the ingredients that we used later,
The atmosphere in the cooking space was great.
Starting with the pisco sour, it tasted so good. The fresh passion fruit juice was delicious. The Asian take of ceviche was very well done and it was nice that Luigi had a substitute for the fish because the texture of raw fish is not for me.
The alpaca was quite tasty.
Finally the fresh fruit parfait was a great way to end the class,
I don’t know if I have a single recommendation to make the experience better. Perfect from start to finish.

We met Luigi at the San Pedro market. We were taken to different stands and learned about all the elements that we would later use in our dishes. Everything was delicious. Most important to me, I was able to make a vegetarian version of the two savory courses. It was nice chatting with Luigi while we ate out creations. So happy to have booked this experience!
I love travel but prefer to try unique experiences to better understand a culture when traveling. This cooking class was a great introduction to Peruvian cuisine. We purposefully arranged this on the first full day we were in Cusco because we knew we wanted to do something but were cautious because of the need to adjust to the altitude. This was the perfect choice.
Going through the market to be introduced to various chilis, fruits, spices, etc. was fascinating and a feast for the eyes and nose. We then went to the Cooking space where we got to spend the evening with other travelers. We were all there for different reasons and from different part of the world. As we prepared each dish, we gathered around the table and experienced it together. The food was delicious and just right.
I have taken other cooking classes before - but most we were spectators. This class stood apart from others because it was hand-on. I expect I will be implementing some of these flavors and cooking techniques into my own kitchen back home.
Super fun and educational activity. Chris was great and his English was very good. It was fun to go to the market and have him explain what things were and how they were used. His studio kitchen was top notch and his instructions were clear and professional. The food we prepared was amazing! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Cusco. Make time to do it. Very enriching food tour and cooking experience! Very professional and organized chef who ensured we had wholesome food tasting & hands on cooking experience within the available time. Dishes were delicious. Plz add Andean meat dishes to the menu for a complete experience.
This was so much fun and an incredible experience. The market tour in the beginning was interesting, educational, and super cool. Then the cocktail we made was absolutely delicious, the dinner was spectacular, and I loved the dessert too. Our guide was friendly, helpful, and funny, and he made the experience very memorable. I learned a lot about Peruvian culture and food, and I’d recommend this to anyone!

All of our dishes that we cooked were delicious and even better than some of the restaurants in Peru that I had tried before.

We had the best time with chef Luigi and the other participants at the cooking class! Luigi was a great instructor, and it was the right pace of cooking and time between each course to chat with the other participants. We do a cooking class typically wherever we’re traveling and this is one of our favorites to date! Would absolutely recommend.

Personal cooking experience. Luigi is a great chef with a lot of information about local produce and Incan culture. Loved the your of the mercado and then making pisco sour, ceviche, alpaca with potatoes and fresh fruit dessert. What a fun afternoon!
Very enjoyable! A must do! Luigi, our Chef, is amazing! The marketplace tour was interesting and Luigi explained the ingredients in detail and answered all questions. Luigi even took extra effort and assisted my wife to feed a stray dog some chicken soup. Once in the kitchen we made drinks, appetizers, main course, and desserts. Luigi was an excellent guide and the food and drinks were great!
I was wary about a cooking class, but Luigi put all my concerns to rest. Not only did we learn a lot about Peruvian ingredients, we did most of the cooking ourselves. And it was DELICIOUS! I can’t recommend Luigi highly enough. His English was impeccable and he was very personable.
Luigi was a very accomplished chef and very engaging. He was very interesting to listen to. Well worth the money and a great way to see the markets and learn about the Peruvian cuisine.
