Totally Worth the long and expensive day!

This trip was worth every dollar and bit of confusion. To explain the confusion: I was not educated enough in the different tickets for Machu Picchu or that you had to buy separate tickets for each. Upon learning I’d need to pay extra to climb Machu Picchu MT, I was told I needed to pay for that and another guide on top of what I had already paid. Come to find out during the tour the guide was not for the mountain climb, but for the ruins tour after. I still feel cheated out of some money and wish it had been explained better, but overall still worth it. Gustavo at Peru Andes Top got us our tickets the night before and explained what to expect for travel. We were promptly picked up from Cusco at 3:45 AM and got the 6:10 train. Kudos to the company for securing morning tickets because we practically had the place to ourselves vs the insanity it became in the afternoon. Uriel was a wonderful tour guide, passionate and knowledgeable about the site, and went above and beyond to accommodate to his group and make sure we were set up in town after. While experience is a true bucket list item!

It was a trip I've always wanted to take and I can say that I've gone. The weather was perfect. If you think of going, try in September as it won't be too cold and it could be in the 70's upper 60's for a high temperature. It was a very good trip.

No help with our canceled flight situation

Our flights were canceled in Atlanta due to storms and we missed connection flights to Peru to be able to make the tour time as scheduled. Tour operators were not able to move our tour date by a day to account for our delay and were unwilling to refund any amount of the $670 total. Viator was also unwilling to at least help issuing a Viator credit for future use. Truly disappointing all around.

Our tour started early, but it was TOTALLY worth it. An amazing experience, very knowledgeable tour guide. He was very passionate and knew how to handle people who weren’t as open to the experience. It was the best way to ring my birthday, and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. Just a heads up though, make sure you have plenty of Soles on you. 2sol for the toilet in Machu Picchu, as well as some toilets in the city requires a payment.

We made our own memorable. We order English speaking tour and were told at location that there wasn't any. We were loaned for lack of a better word to an English speaking guide but come to find out that it wasn't and when I inquired about it, we were left at the entrance until the original guide that we had booked with showed up and took us along . In honesty he tried to explain to us in English after talking to the french group but we missed everything. To make a long story short. What should have been a unique experience with our vacation turn out to be one of the greatest disappointment. I guess I could have watched it on the history channel at home.

Of course Machu Picchu itself was amazing! But the tour itself was useless for me because, while the tour guide was very nice, she was not bilingual as the description promises, and I could not receive the tour in English like I had specified. Not really worth paying all the money for a tour if you can’t understand it much

Great visit to Machu Picchu but disappointed with poor communication at return leg

The returned train ticket stated destination Poroy. When we arrived at Poroy, there was no assigned taxi waiting for us. We ended up sharing a taxi with other tour members to town. Your tour operator insisted that he communicated to us to alight at Ollaytaytambo and an assigned taxi would take us back on a 2hr car ride to Cuzco. All 3 of us did not remember it being communicated. We followed what the train tickets said - destination Poroy n alighted there...which incidentally is just a mere 20min taxi ride from Cuzco. Appreciate better communication in future to avoid such mixups.

Machu Picchu was Excellent but tour operator was VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They didn't have the train tickets ready. Had me wait in line to collect the ticket while he went to drop off other clients. I almost missed my train because of long wait and didn't get opportunity to have breakfast because of the short time. I was not the only client they messed up with, some of the clients either didn't have their train tickets ready and were put in different trains or the tickets to enter the site. It was a total chaos and very unprofessional. I NOT EXPECT THIS FROM VIATOR.

Trip started well communication was very good through the app what’s up tickets were left at the hotel as indicated. Pick up was good for the trip to Machu Picchu travel to the train station was good. Once we reached Machu Picchu park no guard was to be found spent 10 to 15 minutes looking for a guy that was supposed to be there finally negotiated price with another guide and original guy then shows up this was very embarrassing for our group as we had already negotiated a price and we continued with the guy that was hired. The guy that was hired was very hard to understand we received very information. This was my third time to Machupiccu and knew How is should have been. Van ride home was horrible. Several ended ups sick due to very bad driving and one threw-up.
