Arrival to the excursion desk was easy- very short walk and we felt very safe. However, we did not feel that this excursion was as described.
When greeted by our tour guide (who was wonderful), we were informed that the tour was a “city tour”, and the jungle was “inaccessible” on the island due to the fact it is a “swamp”. We were told that we would be driving the ATV on city streets, our first disappointment.
Our tour guide did allow us to stop at one local tequila tasting shop and a beach bar hut, where we could use restrooms or order a drink. In our opinion, this was a poor use of our tour time, since our clock was capped at one hour.
We did take another QUICK stop at the lighthouse and costa maya sign for a photo, but then told we would be heading back to the shop.
We were shuttled from the shop to the “all inclusive beach”, called “mamas”. The beach was overcrowded and dirty. We sat to order our food and drink and many locals swarmed our table to sell their goods.
My son decided to walk to the water to wash his hands prior to eating, and encountered a needle on the beach. Absolutely disturbed, we immediately left the beach and headed back to the ship for medical.
I did contact Viator to make them aware and they were wonderful about accommodating my request for partial refund.
The port in Costa Maya is amazing- safe inside, several pools that are free and lots of great wares for sale as well as restaurants. I would save your money on Costa Maya excursions. The beaches are not great and clearly, not safe either.

I feel the tour was not good as the shore excursions for Virgin. I wanted muddy, water holes for my ride. Instead we were taken on straight back roads and the food was not good at the restaurant. Our guide took us to the worse looking part of the beach asking if we wanted a photo. Why not allow a photo in front of the beach sign? Additionally, too many people repeatedly selling you goods when you are trying to eat.
I feel that the tour was misleading in terms of how you were to get back to port and I didn’t know a beach option for as included for three hours and would have prepared to bring bathing suit attire.
Lastly, my boyfriend’s ATV was malfunctioning and he had to continuously use the gas accelerator as there was no idle option for his ATV. The guide clearly told him what to do so if you have broken ATV’s just fix them. Don’t give us broken equipment.

We are truly sorry about your experience. We don't want you to understand us, but I think you should know that motorcycles are machines that you never know when they will fail and that many times it is out of our hands. And regarding the beach, I suppose you should have read what your excursion included before buying it. It says OPEN BAR ATV ADVENTURE and it was also explained to you here at the office what was included. But anyway, once again, an apology for what happened.

There was no tour. We just followed the guide, Sandra in our ATV. She did not share any interesting information about Mahahual. She stopped for a rest with her friend and proceeded to chat. ..no restroom was available to us. I ran off the road and no aid was rendered; even though I had visible scratches and cuts. Overall, you are better off renting a golf cart and exploring the city.

The atv's were fun. Our tour guide was great. Toucan tours dropped off at the wrong beach club and had to wait to be picked up. Got dropped off at another beach club and it was the wrong one. The manager Jackie was very nice and was able to accommodate us. So frustrating that they didn't know which place we were supposed to be at. Probably won't book again.

The four wheeler’s kept shutting of. The restaurant that we were taken to was primitive but the food, drinks, and servers were very good.

My client enjoyed the ATV adventure part and especially enjoyed that it was just she and her boyfriend with the guide. She said they got conflicting information about the “open bar” which ended up being 2 drinks per person and one food item which is not how it was advertised.

I wish the trail had've been longer and more adventurous, but we had an excellent host. My atv kept dying when I would try to pull off. I ended swapping with our tour guide.

Love that a ride was provided from and to the Costa Maya Port. The ATV staff and waters were friendly and attentive. The ATV route was not what hoped for, no scenic views, just a ride thru neighborhoods. The food was lackluster. The beach is not the best.

No extreme, no jungle…just riding a slow ATV to beach instead of cheaper taxi! Do not do this!!!! Been to costa maya four times…worst excursion ever. Beach bar was fine…just take a taxi!!!
