Itinerary

Begin your private day tour with 8am pickup from your Chengdu hotel, where you'll board a private vehicle with your guide and travel to Leshan, about 68 miles (110 km) away. The journey takes roughly 2.5 hours.

Once you arrive, you have no set itinerary, and are free to explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Mt. Emei Scenic Area at your own pace. Spend as much time as you like discovering the areas around the famous Leshan Giant Buddha, at 232 feet tall (71 meters), the world's largest carved Buddha statue. The figure is sculpted into a cliff of Lingyun Mountain, overlooking the confluence of three rivers.

Hike around the statue with your guide, which takes about 35 minutes from the head to the torso, and another 35 minutes from the waist to the enormous feet. Opt for a cruise on the river (own expense) for another vantage point. Sit down for lunch at a local restaurant before the trip back to your Chengdu hotel.
