My experience of lodotherapy at the Totumo Volcano was both relaxing and unique. Being covered in the warm volcanic mud was a fun and calming experience, and I learned about its supposed health and skin benefits. After rinsing off in the nearby lake, I felt refreshed and rejuvenated. The visit to Galerazamba was equally memorable, especially seeing the beautiful pink salt flats, which were breathtaking and unlike anything I had seen before. Overall, the trip was enjoyable, educational, and truly unforgettable.

Relaxing and comfortable and the museum is cool too. The mud is thick so you don’t need to learn how to swim and they will help you clean off. Please be sure to tip!

Pickup was smooth and communication was good. Was a longer drive than we thought but was ok. We had a fun time at the mud bath itself, the persons doing the massaging were a little pushy. The pink sea wasn't pink at all, but we were aware of that beforehand.

Be careful with this tour. It could be great, but ours wasn't. The van sent to drive you is old and slow and the air conditioning is not good. We visited Galerazamba, but they didn't tell us the pink lake wasn't pink until we were there. It may not be pink when you go there. The volcano was good. We were the first one picked up, and I would assume the last one to be dropped off. They were having trouble organizing the drop off, so we got out and had to take an Uber home. The trip took a long time with no food or ability to buy food.

Good morning, the Colombian regulation for the special transport service is a maximum speed of 80 km per hour, and we respect this provision because the fine is very high, we do not offer the Pink Sea but the visit to Galerazamba for the ethno-tourist and industrial visit, the salt route, the food option at the time of preparing the passenger list you have the option to buy it within the service package, but what was contracted was FULFILLED in its schedules and in its services

Would have been 5 stars but the Van is so small we had a full group of 12 and the Van “holds” 12 but not 12 adults. It was tight. Beyond that great tour. Yuliana was awesome. Explained the day and what was expected. Very nice. The salt lake was interesting. The volcanic mud was a fun experience. If I were to do it again I’d look into a private tour.

I had originally booked the Volcano and Galerazamba tour. It wasn’t until an hour before I was to be picked up that I was informed that my original tour was cancelled. I was given the option of doing the tour the next day or cancelling all together. I was quite upset and it was only after I vocalized this that I was offered to go on the Volcano only tour. This should have been the first option- and should have been told the day before, not an hour before pick up. I choose the Volcano only tour, as it was still an activity I really wanted to do. The mud bath, massage and experience was excellent. There definitely was some confusion on the part of the women who help wash you off, as to their service being paid for. I had paid for all 4 services to the same guy who had helped take photos, and had to have him confirm to the woman that I had already paid. Overall the day and experience was great. My guide, Sam, was very helpful and kind.

The volcano and museum experience was awesome. The driver and tour guide were very informative and hospitable. The vehicle took away frim the experience. It was delapitated, lots of rust, the air condition did not work well and it cut off on us 3 times as well as stalled. The fumes from the vehicle was a bit overwhelming. The driver had to put water in the radiator I assume to keep it from overheating. The lunch was ok, we ordered the grilled chicken. It was a little dry, overcooked and tough to chew. The staff at the lunch stop was very hospitable.

The guide did not speak English, as promised. We only went to the volcano and none of the other stops ( salt flats, museum). The operator told Viator it was due to the weather. It was raining at the beginning of the day, but certainly not storming. When we left the volcano, it was not raining. The tour guide did not speak English, as promised, so nothing was explained to us. As a matter of fact, he left us on the vehicle with just the driver, who also did not speak English. The driver proceeded to try to drop us off at the wrong location for our hotel; near, but not at our hotel where they picked us up. The transport vehicle was old and noisy. Also, be prepared to tip at least five people for the volcano experience (the driver, the guide, the persons volunteering to take your photos, give you a massage in the mud and the ladies who wash you off in the rive)r. They do this for tips, which I understand, but it seems they were demanding more than what some people were giving. This was an overall BAD experience.

Good morning the reason why we went to the volcano first is because we left in the middle of rain. you were informed that the visit to Galeramza was according to the weather conditions. the operational assistant, even though he did not speak english, personally informed you that there was an thunderstorm and rain in Galerazamba, for this reason it was impossible to reach the area. tips are voluntary. the guide did not ask for a tip nor did the driver because he was part of the staff.

The adventure was enjoyable, and my friends and I had a great time in the mud bath—it was truly a unique experience. However, we felt overwhelmed by the local mud workers constantly asking for tips. We were also disappointed with the Pink Sea tour, as the sea wasn't pink. The tour guide explained it was due to the rainy season.

It was a great experience and the best part was the mud volcano. The journey there was long so a better transportation was needed. The ride was uncomfortable and the tour offered air conditioned transportation but there was hardly any. The vehicle was old and dirty. But it was an or journey. The guide spoke English so that was good. Overall it was a good experience.

The guide did not like her job. She was eating snacks and on her phone most of the time. She didn’t bother to show us the pink lake. She didn’t even say bye. The mud volcano is a lot of fun but you gotta be strong because they’re very aggressive with the tipping.

The guide was not friendly. Didn’t introduce herself, barely said hello. She texted us that they were very close to the hotel but it was still another 20 min wait outside and then someone showed up not meeting the description of who was picking us up. Went to a crappy little museums out salt and then “pink beach” which nobody in their right mind could ever describe as pink. The volcano mud bath was fun! Felt really cool and relaxing. Dropped some people off for lunch and back to the area of our hotel 7 hours later. Driver wouldn't take us all the way back to the hotel, he dropped us off about 6 blocks away. Maybe he didn’t want to deal with the traffic? We didn’t care. It was 5+ hours of driving for the 45 min volcano experience. I would not recommend this tour.

Good Experience, Not So Good Tour Operator

The experience was good, but the tour company wasn't the best. For starters, they arrive 50 minutes late. Secondly, the van was pretty hot. Thirdly, the van didn't have seatbelts. Fourthly, the tour operator lady didnt explain much, she could have been a bit more informative. Also, she never greeted us and she never introduced herself. The entire time, we were unsure what was happening. Fifth, its completely pointless to go to the lake, especially because they were aware the lake wasnt going to be pink, well before picking us up. They should remove the pink lake from the advertisement, until they are sure it's going to be pink. I see where all the other reviews mention the lake not being pink, so why continue to take us there? Driver did fix flat

The steps were a beast however, overall we enjoyed the experience. This is a man made volcano therefore you should not expect a true volcano experience. When our group arrived there were a lot of other visitors which delayed our experience. This is a small area and gets crowded quickly. The massages were great in a short period of time. Yuilanna was very informative throughout the tour. The sea was not pink however, nobody can control mother nature.

Mud experience

Honestly for the price it was worth it. I would say the ride there was pretty long. The bus does stop to pick up other people which is normal. Bring water. I was in the mud for only 5 mins, too packed, some people was in there almost 30 min taking advantage of it which wasn’t fair. Another thing I dislike was the people who work there. They was feening for money and the tour lady specifically said if we wanna tip give it to her she’ll place it the ziploc bag. Boy the men’s did not want to hear that. Btw there’s a couple older lady who assist with you taking the mud off. They follow you after making sure you tip them which I didn’t like. Our tour lady said we can give it to her and then they’ll split it among each other each. Despite that I’ll give it 4/5.

Driver refused to pickup at cruise port terminal

We booked this as a cruise excursion on 12/4/23 and chose the cruise terminal as our pickup location. Before we left we sent several messages asking for clarification on pickup location and time and stated that we would be on a cruise and would not have access to our phones or e-mail starting 11/30/23. We received no response before our cruise left. When we arrived at the cruise terminal we spent 30 minutes trying to find our driver and had several people helping us. Finally we borrowed a phone and called the number on our booking and were able to connect with our driver. He refused to come and pick us up at the port. Instead he wanted us to take a taxi $20 at our expense to the Clock Tower. He also said we would have to take a taxi back at our expense. We were not willing to pay another $40 on top of what we had already paid for the excursion and were left scrambling trying to find something else to do with the time we had left in Cartagena. When we returned from our cruise we had a message sent the night before our excursion telling us to meet our driver at the Clock Tower but like we stated in the messages we had sent we did not have access to our phones. Really wish they would have responded to any of our previous messages before we left that they would not pick us up at the cruise terminal so we could have cancelled and gotten our money back. Highly disappointed as we were excited to try something new.

Do not book your trip to El Totumo with this provider!!! - We had to wait 1 hour to be picked up - „bus“ had very bad air conditioning - bus was overbooked (it was full and 2 more people were supposed to enter) - tour guide really didn’t like her job and didn’t engage at all with us - the pink sea is not pink in November Book your tour through another provider!!!

A few hiccups on the way there including our van breaking down which in the grand scheme was no big deal, another coach was sent and we were on our way. This volcanic mud exp was INCREDIBLE. One of the coolest things I've done EVER.
