The description of this experience does not do it justice. This was one of my favorite days in 9 weeks of travel through Italy. You begin the day learning of the history and culture of the town of Civita, but this is not a boring lesson! You walk through the village as stories, legends, natural beauty, and architecture bring the place to life. Then, you have a delicious homemade lunch before meeting the beautiful owls and birds of prey that your guide and his family have cared for in the most devoted way you can imagine. You learn so many interesting facts about creatures while you look at them, and in some cases, have them perch on your arm. We were two adults who were completely captivated all day, but children would love this too!
