The museum was fantastic, and the guide (Mariam) was spectacular. Mariam had so much knowledge of Egyptian history and navigated us through the museum with absolute expertise. Having her as a tour guide made the experience absolutely awesome. Highly recommend this tour!

My guide, Hoda, is highly highly educated and very passionate about history. I was proud to be one of the first visitors to the GEM. My driver (I'm sorry, but I forgot his name) was easily the best that I had in my week in Egypt as a solo traveler, even playing Christmas music for me on his phone during our drive home.

This does not come with tickets - that needs to be more clear when picking this option. Then the guide had me buy tickets and somehow I got the wrong ones. And they were 30 min late picking us up. Despite the very frustrating beginning, the tour guide was knowledgeable and let us take our time to go through exhibits and to make up for being late they let us stay an extra hour and grab lunch and look through the shops.

Well make sure to purchase your own tickets because this does not include tickets to the museum. This is only for the tour guide .My tour guide Mariam was lovely she was very knowledgeable and kind and helped take great pics! I recommend her 10/10!

More self-guided than guided

The actual museum visit was about 2.5 hours, but only around 90 minutes were spent on stop-and-go explanations of a few “headline” objects. After that, we got roughly 30 minutes of free time while the guide sat down to rest. For the remaining time, we were basically told to explore the adjacent Kufu boat museum on our own—again while the guide rested on the first floor. The explanations were fairly generic and the overall delivery felt disengaged. If you’re looking for a proper guided experience, I wouldn’t recommend this tour.

Good, Quick Tour of Tutankhamen’s Treasures

A quick but good overview of the new GEM. The driver and Sara arrived on time and safely navigated us thru the Giza traffic chaos to the museum. We mostly focused on Tutankhamen’s exhibit with a brief appreciation of some of the highlights of the museum. Sara was great in accommodating my request to see Khufu’s solar boat at the end and a quick stop at the gift shop. The tour ended with an obligatory visit to a Papyrus shop and oil & perfume shop. I went along, and thankfully there was no pressure to purchase. The papyrus at least included a demonstration of how they make the paper. I quickly skipped the oil & perfume demo. The tour company should’ve informed me in advance that I needed to buy an online ticket to get into the GEM. I knew the cost was not included, but I thought we’d buy the ticket at the GEM. But Sara nicely helped me navigate to the GEM website for the ticket. I think if you only have 3-4 hours, this is a good tour for a quick look at the key items at the GEM. But really you need at least a whole day at the GEM to take it in.

There isn’t much to say other than spectacular! If you have any interest in the civilisation of the pharaohs this is the place to visit. Our guide Simon was also excellent and very knowledgeable. A big thanks to her! Without a proper guide will not be the same.

Gina (our guide) and Mario (our driver) were both amazing! We got a great tour of the museum but note it will not be fully open until after November 4 I believe. Everything we saw was incredible, Gina taught us a lot about the history and was very kind. 5 star review for their tour and punctuality. Recommend them both!

Gina was a pleasure and very knowledgeable about museum , Egyptian history and Cairo in general. Her English was great and the pace of tour was perfect for our group of 4. She suggested a lunch spot after our tour that we loved. Excellent Lebanese food and a perfect chance to share our favorite moments from the morning. Highly recommend Gina and Viator for this tour.
