The time you get to spend with the turtle you will release is very fun. I named mine Daisy after my favorite flower. The presentation is extremely interesting and informative. Everyone involved is very friendly and accommodating. I’m glad I got the chance at least one time in my life! I highly recommend this activity. It has made me love marine turtles even more.

They cancelled the trip but never refunded us! I messaged them and texted them several times to no avail. This operator should be kicked out!

It was such a fun and educational experience. Highly recommend for adults and kids. The baby turtles were adorable and the presentation informative.

This was an amazing experience. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth the money !

Very poor communication with tour operators. Ultimately the morning of tour it was cancelled, company wanted to reschedule after our departure date.
Ann_K, Jan 2026
No baby turtles hatched on the original scheduled tour day or on the second tour day, so the tour was cancelled.
Thuy_P, Jan 2026
The activity provider canceled the tour since no baby turtles hatched that day. We are still waiting for the refund

Pick up was flawless - initially a little confusing as we were in a brb house not hotel- but tour accommodated that and picked us up at our house! Lots of information about turtles was provided. Both children (young as 4-5 years) and adults enjoyed the release and watching turtle babies trundle into the surf. It also felt good to contribute to wildlife restoration projects.

Cancelled on us 2 times during our vacation with such short notice we missed opportunities to book other tours.

The actual release of the baby turtles was a great experience. Great watching them scramble towards the ocean. The talk prior was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only reason it's not five stars is that there's almost no communication prior to the event. I sent them a message several times via Viator regarding pickup time. They didn't respond until the morning of the event. Just FYI, you can plan a different activity the morning of the turtle release. Just be sure you're back to your pickup location in the early afternoon.

Releasing baby turtles was one of the highlights of our trip. Our marine biologist, Patricio, was highly knowledgeable and entertaining. The trip starts with a brief informational overview of sea turtles, and at sunset we went out to release the babies. It was incredibly moving to see them making their way into the ocean to start their lives. The release at sunset was also beautiful and we were able to get some great photos.
The only thing I wish I would have known ahead of time was around logistics. The tour was listed at about four hours. Viator does not indicate most of this is transport. If you are trying to plan your day it is important to note that having a 1-2 hour buffer before the tour start time is necessary to ensure you make the pickup (e.g. our tour started at 4:30, pickup was 3:10). It is also worth noting you will not know your pickup time until the morning of the activity (due to needing to confirm the birth of the babies for release). The transport is not private for each group, so if there are others at different resorts the trip there and the trip home can become extended due to multiple stops. The ranch is isolated, so I’m not sure uber or taxi would be a good alternative. In all, I think we spent more time in the car than we did on the tour itself - but, for us it was worth it to experience the sea turtle release.
There are restrooms there, and water - no food though. I recommend bringing snacks and water to ensure you have something for the van.

Wow!!! Amazing experience. We were able to release 2 turtles each and get a very informed overview of turtles with a marine biologist. Highly recommended!

Logistically, they could improve. I didn't know they were picking me up until I asked and it was 5 hours right before pick up time. The bathrooms there aren't in the best shape so be prepared.
Some things to note.
It takes a while to get started because they have to wait for sundown so the seagulls won't come and eat your turtle. There were some seagulls still trying to come eat the turtle as we released.
You start the tour with knowledge about the turtles while waiting for sundown.
That's why the total time of the tour is so long.
Be patient. Turtles are slow.
I saw some news about cancellations because the turtles didn't hatch. That's nature. You can't force it. Just like you can't force a whale to jump for you.
Patricio was funny and passionate about his work and it shows.
The main event. It's fun! It's actually quite exciting to root for your turtle to reach the ocean while the waves inches closer to grab your turtle. They are weak and slow, but seeing something so small get over the sand obstacles and trying to find their own way to the ocean was amazing. The sunset is beautiful and the glow is romantic.

Experience of a lifetime would recommend it to everyone. Patricio was great and so is his team. Even the dog was a great team member

Turtles need protection. Very few survive to maturity. We can protect them better. I enjoyed Patricio’s talk about turtles. The process is very safe for the turtles and the guides were very skilled and careful. I highly recommend this activity. It felt like we did something good in this crazy world. I know those turtles have a better chance with Carisuva helping them.

Great experience! The staff are very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was so cool to see a great sunset and release the turtles. Highly recommend

Wonderful and extremely cute experience! This was the highlight of our vacation. I don’t know enjoyed it more my wife or kids!
Elleda_Z, Dec 2025
We had an amazing experience at the turtle release. We got about an hour of info from a marine biologist and learned about different turtles and their nesting habits. Then we released the baby turtles in a safe and nature-focused way (no touching the turtles, we don’t want what they have and vice versa). Would highly recommend!
Jenna_D, Dec 2025
Worth every penny! This was very informative and it was a ton of fun. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!
JOANNE_K, Dec 2025
The actual turtle releasing was great. However, logistics were less so. I would recommend the experience because the marine biologist clearly cares deeply for the turtles. He gave a talk about lifecycle, types of turtles, etc…then we went to the ocean and released at sunset, it was magical.
I ended up hiring a car to take us to the experience because I was just given the address of the place when I asked which hotel pick up was closest to me. Then when the buses arrived I spoke to the leaders and they had no idea who I was. It felt disorganized.

If you like animals, you’ll love this excursion! Very educational & so cute to watch the baby turtles make their way toward the water.
TaneciaS, Dec 2025
Great unique experience! Very educational for kids and adults! I highly recommend to anyone that loves sea turtles or interested in sea life conservation efforts.
Melissa_C, Dec 2025
Great experience! Spent the extra to do a private release, while the tour is still a group tour, the private allows you to release more turtles away from the larger group. My son and I loved it and according to him it was magical. They sell pizza and merch at the end so bring cash, pizza was $4 a slice and hoodies were $35. Can’t wait to do it again!
Idalia_W, Dec 2025
This is one of the best experiences that I’ve ever had in any trip, something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Patricio, the marine biologist, was very knowledgeable and funny, and we learned a lot about sea turtles from him
Lorenzo_L, Dec 2025
our turtles didn't hatch on the day we were supposed to go on the activity so the company offered us an alternative activity like horseback riding or an ATV adventure. unfortunately the times didn't fit our schedule so we had to decline all together. but i wanted to leave a review regardless. i am thankful to the company for reaching out and at least trying to make it right with us on the day of the activity, and nature being nature you really can't control when these turtles will actually hatch. we will surely try for the activity the next time we are in town and maybe we'll schedule it with enough time in our stay in case the hatch gets delayed! they gave us a full refund promptly and i completely appreciate that.

Absolutely loved this! It was the highlight of our trip. Patricio, the marine biologist, gave a very informative talk on turtles and then we hiked to the beach to release the turtles. We lined up with bowls in which our turtle babies were placed and then released them on the beach and watched them make it to the sea. It was great to see our college kids absolutely entranced. The whole experience takes about 90 mins (outside of drive time). Highly recommend!

Everybody should do this at least once. Very Informative experience and amazing watching the baby turtles make their way to the ocean. My daughter was so excited to experience this.
Amanda_H, Nov 2025
Worth every penny, especially to upgrade to the private experience. Can't say enough positive things about this experience! Our kids absolutely loved it
Teresa_A, Nov 2025
They cancelled on us (legitimately as no turtles had hatched). Promised to reschedule for 2 days later. We never heard from them again
