The time you get to spend with the turtle you will release is very fun. I named mine Daisy after my favorite flower. The presentation is extremely interesting and informative. Everyone involved is very friendly and accommodating. I’m glad I got the chance at least one time in my life! I highly recommend this activity. It has made me love marine turtles even more.

We (4 adults) TRULY ENJOYED this experience! The staff was very educational and gave a lot of information during our excursion! Releasing the turtles was AMAZING! THANK YOU for one of the best days of my life ❤️
A unique cultural experience seeing how they help turtles hatch and make it safely to the ocean.
They explain the types of turtles that are hatching at this particular time and the process of the hatchling making it to the ocean.
This felt like a very rich experience that my daughter and I shared together. The team at Rancho Carisuva are doing heroes work to try to increase the possibility that as many baby turtles as possible can survive the dangerous journey from their nest to the ocean.
The tour provided transportation to and from my hotel, which made the whole thing very simple the only thing I wished I had brought was some bug spray for the discussion at the ranch before we went to the beach.
Really enjoyed our experience learning about and releasing the baby sea turtles ! What great conservation work they do !
It was an educational and fun experience that’s great for everyone. We learned about sea turtles and then we each got to release many of them and see them out to the ocean. Worth the trip.
This excursion was the highlight of my whole 8 day cruise. Abel was our private tour guide. While we did do part of the day with the bigger group when it came to releasing the baby turtles my husband and I had a bucket of the cutest black turtles ever and we got to release all of them and name ALL of them! Abel took fantastic photos of us and the sunset... WOW! It couldn't have been more perfect.
To say we highly recommend this excursion is an understatement. If you love sea turtles, book this!! I will definitely be going back.
They never refunded my money after cancelling our trip. Cancellation not their fault, the turtles didn’t hatch, but when I asked for them to refund since the couldn’t do it, they said they would, however never did.
It starts with a half hour “masterclass” on sea turtles. It was interesting to learn about them. Then we walked down toward the beach and checked out all the nests they had set up. These guys do so much for turtle conservation - their work is admirable and impressive. After checking that out we walked down to the beach. Sometimes you have to be patient and fight off the seagulls, which they endearingly refer to as “sea eagles.” We watched the sunset and let the turtles go shortly after. It was so fun! There were so many babies and it was such a good time to watch them crawl to the ocean and cheer them all on. Abel was our guide and he was so kind and knowledgeable. Pato was also very kind and professional. Highly recommend!

Great learning experience! Got to see a turtle shell. Also got to pet donkies and it was an amazing sunset that night.
It was a little bit of a trip to get there and because of the facilities limited budget and resources, you are not in an air conditioned environment for the educational portion. That is not a complaint, just a heads up to be fed and hydrated when you go. That said, the marine biologist (Patricio) and his partner (Abel) were great! A wonderful experience for adults and children. You could see how passionate and invested those two are in helping the turtles. It is a lot of work and dedication and I have a new respect for their chosen careers and efforts . And what a beautiful experience it was to introduce the baby sea turtles to their journey out to the ocean. I highly recommend. We did have to wait an exrta 1/2 hr to leave because of a broken down van but those things happen and are beyond anyone’s control.

Our original date was delayed because there were no hatched eggs that day. I did have to be the one to text and ask if the day the day we didn’t have other things planned but every time I did, I got a quick response. We drove ourselves, it’s a big of a haul and we did have to wait for some horses that we seriously in the road by the range (one even tried to eat the passenger side mirror). Once there, the activity is fantastic. A great lesson from a marine biologist about marine turtles, their nests, their eggs, etc. He did a staged version of finding a nest (don’t tell this kids!). And we got to each release a turtle. There is some walking through soft sand, I’d say quarter mile or so? But this experience was 100% worth it and the fee goes towards the conservation efforts. Our group was 2yo, 6yo, 15yo and two adults, everyone loved it.
Unforgettable experience.. Definitely would recommend. The staff was knowledgeable and made the experience both educational and enjoyable.
If the turtles are not hatching then they would not be able to go on an excursion. Also, the tour operator takes forever to return messages and leave you hanging.. I also need to figure out how I’m gonna get my money back. They did let me know if I wanted to do something else but I couldn’t because of health issue.

Hi sorry to hear that the weather has been a little crazy at turtle camp that’s why the baby turtles don’t born on the time that we expected!! Can you double check the refund because we did the refunds !!!

It was awesome! Cheering your baby turtle on as they entered the ocean was a good feeling. The instructor was very informative and even made rhe presentation funny and interesting.

They cancelled the trip but never refunded us! I messaged them and texted them several times to no avail. This operator should be kicked out!

Very poor communication with tour operators. Ultimately the morning of tour it was cancelled, company wanted to reschedule after our departure date.
No baby turtles hatched on the original scheduled tour day or on the second tour day, so the tour was cancelled.
The activity provider canceled the tour since no baby turtles hatched that day. We are still waiting for the refund
Pick up was flawless - initially a little confusing as we were in a brb house not hotel- but tour accommodated that and picked us up at our house! Lots of information about turtles was provided. Both children (young as 4-5 years) and adults enjoyed the release and watching turtle babies trundle into the surf. It also felt good to contribute to wildlife restoration projects.

Cancelled on us 2 times during our vacation with such short notice we missed opportunities to book other tours.
The actual release of the baby turtles was a great experience. Great watching them scramble towards the ocean. The talk prior was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only reason it's not five stars is that there's almost no communication prior to the event. I sent them a message several times via Viator regarding pickup time. They didn't respond until the morning of the event. Just FYI, you can plan a different activity the morning of the turtle release. Just be sure you're back to your pickup location in the early afternoon.
Releasing baby turtles was one of the highlights of our trip. Our marine biologist, Patricio, was highly knowledgeable and entertaining. The trip starts with a brief informational overview of sea turtles, and at sunset we went out to release the babies. It was incredibly moving to see them making their way into the ocean to start their lives. The release at sunset was also beautiful and we were able to get some great photos.
The only thing I wish I would have known ahead of time was around logistics. The tour was listed at about four hours. Viator does not indicate most of this is transport. If you are trying to plan your day it is important to note that having a 1-2 hour buffer before the tour start time is necessary to ensure you make the pickup (e.g. our tour started at 4:30, pickup was 3:10). It is also worth noting you will not know your pickup time until the morning of the activity (due to needing to confirm the birth of the babies for release). The transport is not private for each group, so if there are others at different resorts the trip there and the trip home can become extended due to multiple stops. The ranch is isolated, so I’m not sure uber or taxi would be a good alternative. In all, I think we spent more time in the car than we did on the tour itself - but, for us it was worth it to experience the sea turtle release.
There are restrooms there, and water - no food though. I recommend bringing snacks and water to ensure you have something for the van.
Wow!!! Amazing experience. We were able to release 2 turtles each and get a very informed overview of turtles with a marine biologist. Highly recommended!
Logistically, they could improve. I didn't know they were picking me up until I asked and it was 5 hours right before pick up time. The bathrooms there aren't in the best shape so be prepared.
Some things to note.
It takes a while to get started because they have to wait for sundown so the seagulls won't come and eat your turtle. There were some seagulls still trying to come eat the turtle as we released.
You start the tour with knowledge about the turtles while waiting for sundown.
That's why the total time of the tour is so long.
Be patient. Turtles are slow.
I saw some news about cancellations because the turtles didn't hatch. That's nature. You can't force it. Just like you can't force a whale to jump for you.
Patricio was funny and passionate about his work and it shows.
The main event. It's fun! It's actually quite exciting to root for your turtle to reach the ocean while the waves inches closer to grab your turtle. They are weak and slow, but seeing something so small get over the sand obstacles and trying to find their own way to the ocean was amazing. The sunset is beautiful and the glow is romantic.
