My parents and I had a great day at the Mutianyu Great Wall. Jimmy was great and collected us at the airport (showed loads of patience given customs took ages).
He’s a great driver and guide helping us get the best of the wall and was extra careful with my mom who had a sore leg.
I fully recommend him as he has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to the Great Wall. He was also extra nice and got us the tickets for the cable car hence we didn’t have to waist time in queues. Additionally he helped us find a souvenir shop where I could pay with my card which was great! At the end of the day he took us to our hotel and made sure all was ok. Overall the day was amazing with magnificent views and great stories. Many tanks Jimmy for the amazing time!

The Mutianyu Great Wall is definitely a must visit early in the morning during winter when crowds are absent! As the saying goes, he who have never been to the Great Wall is never a hero!
Breathtaking views amidst history, you’re transported in time among the stone and bricks!
My guide Jimmy was exceptionally knowledgeable in history and gave me a very good rendition of the creation and the existence of the structures through the thousands of years in time. Truly remarkable to be able to experience this with someone as informed as Jimmy is!

Jimmy showed me and my sister the Great Wall of China:) He drove us there and back safely and he was very kind and knowable. We even got to do extra things like shopping! And because we are from Canada, and do not know how to speak Chinese, he also helped us translate!
He even took photos for us and rode in the bus up and down the Great Wall and the hair lift too! I would highly recommend doing a tour with Jimmy because it is very small not like big bus where it’s very busy!!!! We feel so lucky, you will not regret it, thank you Jimmy!

Even though the private tour normally starts at 8 Jimmy picked us up at 7 in the morning at the airport as our flight arrived very early. Traffic was fine at this time of the day and Mutianyu wasnt crowded at all when we arrived around 8 on November 5 2025. Jimmy was a great guide. He got all the tickets for us and had a lot to tell about the wall and its history. He brought us up to wall and then let move around at our own pace. We took the cable car up and the slide down (both at extra cost which we knew). Since therer were no crowds yet we finished quickly and were gone before the tour groups came. Jimmy brought us back to the hotel in the city. We can recommend Jimmy and his tours to everyone. His english is very good.

Our visit to the Great Wall was perfect thanks to Jimmy who made sure we wasted no time and suggested we go there early. Jimmy’s car is very comfortable and he is driving safely. Jimmy came to pickup on time and once on site he gave us some information about the wall, helped us with tickets and made sure to guide us directly on the wall before leaving us to explore. This was a great experience and Jimmy is a great host. He speaks good English and is a genuine nice guy. Considerate driver and makes sure you are up on the wall ok before he leaves you to your own devices. Didn’t feel rushed just met him at the agreed meeting point when all was done. Walking on the wall is already very strenuous as it is very steep and uneven. It is therefore best to book the chairlift as well.

We decided to book flights wirh a long stopover in Beijing (Capital Airport) located north of city specifically to visit the Great Wall of China with our kids. Jimmy was the perfect host, easy to communicate with and you don't need to worry about the logistics at all! He is easy to find in front of cafe at exit (also has good coffee). Jimmy gets your Wall tickets in advance as well. He parked his clean minivan as close as possible to the airport exit. When we got to the Wall area he discussed all the options and costs regarding chairlifts, gondolas, walking, and found out the real closing times from the people running it (we were there late afternoon on a Chinese long weekend) so we were able to do the chairlift up and toboggan down (which was a real highlight) while maximising Wall time. Then, we went to a great restaurant at the base and had dinner with Jimmy watching the sunset before he drove us back to the airport (our flight was 1am). This experience will be a family highlight! Thank you Jimmy for this great memory!

This particular tour was the highlight of our trip to China. What made it most special was the guide/driver Jimmy Z. We couldn’t have asked for a more special person let alone a great guide. Our request for an earlier start time, via email, was returned in a matter of an hour. When the special day came, he was spot on time and the vehicle (a large type van) was spotlessly clean. After introductions were made, Jimmy and the two of us started the 1.5-hour trip to the Mutianyu portion of the Great Wall. Jimmy is an extra safe driver, which we truly appreciated, especially being the first snowfall of the season. We arrived at a special parking area where Jimmy paid for the coach tickets that is used to bring you to the entry area of the Great Wall (lined with small shops/restaurants). During the coach ride Jimmy explained to us the different options we had (Cable Cars/Ski lift/toboggan down) and genteelly guided us to what turned out to be the best path. What really surprised us was that Jimmy not only helped us purchase the needed tickets, but he actually joined us on the cable card ride up to tower 14. On top of the Great Wall he made sure we were heading in the right direction (to tower 6) and that we knew what to do when we came down the ski-lift (unfortunately the toboggan slide was not open due to the snow), take the coach back to entry area and meet him at a restaurant to the left of the Burger King.
After a few pictures he took of us on the Wall, he told us to take as much time that was needed and that he would see us when done. He then caught the cable cars back down the wall.
All we can say is that the Great Wall, although challenging at times (we are no spring chickens), was a spectacular walk! When competed we really had a sense of accomplishment and a better understanding of the sheer magnitude of this man-made marvel. And there was Jimmy playing Chinese Chess with another person when we entered the restaurant. He stood up to greet us and we told him to finish his game. This gave us time to toast our successful climb of this iconic Wall and our great tour guide/friend Jimmy with two of the coldest beers we have ever had!

OK this is a must do! we had the best time we went up in the lift and walked the wall then down on the tabogin, our guide let us go off once he got us our tickets and this was just what we wanted. Have to say this was a highlight of my whole holiday, do not miss the opportunity to do this.
