This was the ABSOLUTE best activity I have ever done anywhere. Pilu and Jordi (sorry if spelled their names wrong) were thoroughly entertaining and hospitable. They explained the history of the espadrille while they guided the small group in how to decorate them ourselves. Refreshments were provided which was also wonderful.
The shop also had beautiful hand made espadrilles and hand painted boots & sneakers. I enjoyed this activity so much, I’d love to come back again with friends.

I’ve never heard about the Espadrille shoes let alone a workshop. After today’s experience, it is a must do! Stephanie and Pilu were great host. My wife and I had a wonderful time learning about the shoes and building our own shoes. My and and I can say we are proud owners of our own Espadrille shoes. Bravo!!! Great jobs and great hosts. This activity was something I’d really looked forward to but I came away disappointed. It should not be called espadrille making when all you are really doing is decorating a simple shoe base that has already been made by adding ribbons or charms to your personal taste. Although I knew the base took a long time to set, I did expect to at least be stitching the fabric components, not merely adding ribbon decorations and ties. The types of decorations you can make in the class are also restricted to 3 options. You cannot choose to make more complicated decorative features even if you are an experienced needle worker. We started half an hour late waiting for one participant but that wasn’t an issue because the activity only lasted an hour and we still finished 30 minutes earlier than expected. We were not given much information at all about the origins or background to espadrilles and I had to ask the reason for the different decorations in different regional areas. The snacks were not great and we chose not to have the wine.

This was a super fun class. The instructors were fabulous and we ended up with really cute Espadrilles to take home as a great reminder of our trip to Barcelona. My sister and I had so much fun doing this together. It's worth the time on your trip.

A fun and interactive experience! Informative, creative, Cava included. You can choose the kind of shoe, platforms cost are additionally, but flat ones have more colours to chose from. Its a fun way to start a day in the gothic district. Totally worth it.
