Begin your Spanish culinary adventure with a guided tour of La Boqueria, one of Barcelona’s fresh food markets, where your chef selects fresh seafood and introduces you to the vibrant flavors and aromas of local produce.
Then, just a short walk away, arrive at your cooking school in the El Born district—complete with an open kitchen, workshop bar, and cozy restaurant-style seating. Kick things off by preparing your own pintxos (a variety of classic Spanish finger foods) alongside flowing sangria.
Under the guidance of your bilingual chef, prepare a traditional seafood paella, learning each step from scratch before letting it simmer to perfection. While your main dish cooks, take part in a hands-on sangria-making workshop, mixing your own fresh and fruity jugs of the classic Spanish drink to enjoy with your meal.
Once the paella is ready, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor. A non-seafood alternative is available for those with dietary restrictions, and the chef is happy to accommodate food allergies or special requirements.
To wrap up your experience, receive a set of recipes and cooking tips to take home.

We had the most fun cooking with Luca. This was hands-down the best experience that we had in Barcelona. The tapas were wonderful and so was the sangria. Luca taught us things we have never heard of before. The paella was amazing! We would have done this cooking experience twice if we were not leaving the next day. I would recommend this event to anyone!

If you like to cook or love to cook a beginner or seasoned cook, you will love this experience! Chef Andres was absolutely great explaining each step, ingredient and the importance of each. The paella, tapas and sangria were all wonderful!!
Santiago was amazing, and very communicative. We enjoyed a private dining experience with Sangria, cooking lessons and tapas. Be careful when scheduling because we were really excited about the market tour and did not realize that it was closed on Sunday so we couldn't enjoy that part of the experience.
Awesome tour! Got to see the market, and learn about the culture along with a classic dish. Guide was knowledgeable and fun, definitely recommend
We loved the interactive cooking class! The class started at the market where we saw all the ingredients purchased fresh for the paella. We then went back to the classroom and had sangria and tapas while participating in the cooking process. We ended the class with a giant plate of paella. Would recommend!
Everyone in my group really enjoyed the cooking class. The other folks in the class were super fun and the chef was engaging and informative. The Sangria's were flowing all night and the food was good
Chef Luca made the experience so special. From the meeting point, we walked a short distance to the market that was unbelievable and so special. We then headed to a private space where he already had prepared sangria, tapas and the prep area for us to join him in cooking the paella. We had a small group of eight, strangers at first then friends by the end. I highly recommend this experience to make your stay in Barcelona extraordinary.
Excellent paella. Very good mood in the group. Easy to understand class and replicable recipe. A nice experience overall.
We didn’t get what the description gave as our experience. It said we’d be learning to make tapas and sangria and cooking. We did not learn tapas or sangria. Also we walked to the market with the chef where he did the purchasing. He was knowledgeable about the history. But when we got to the kitchen, the guests were able to help prepare the ingredients but we did not cook anything. Which was the point of the class for me. We also had roaches on our table when we went back to sit down.
Also, several guests were late to the class so we started 30 minutes late, and some of those same guests wandered off at the market and we had to wait.
This was not supposed to be a restaurant experience but a learning experience.
Don’t book on a Sunday because the market will not be open. The cooking lesson and subsequent partaking of the paella was a lot of fun.
This experience was a 10/10 all around. You get to go through the Boqueria market & see all the amazing vendors. The cooking class itself was an immersive experience, and you get to meet cool people along the way. The food is authentic, and it was the best paella I had in Spain.
Chef Kako was phenomenal!! He was a true wealth of knowledge with an amazing touch of charm. I would highly recommend this experience. Best paella I’ve ever had and the secret ingredient was the icing on the cake. The trip to the market made us feel like we were in a movie 😍. 15/10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This class was so much fun. We started at the market which was very hot but I loved that we went. The chef was entertaining and informative. The group of people were amazing and we made friends which made the experience so much more meaningful. Food was good, wine was great! Would debit act!
Very good. Everything was explained in details. Hands on experience. Food was delicious. In addition to great recipes we got a small history lessons on the neighborhoods that we passed to the market and back.
I joined this cooking class with my older daughter, looking forward to a hands-on experience where we could learn how to prepare traditional tapas together. Unfortunately, the experience did not quite meet our expectations.
One of the main reasons we booked the class was to actively participate in the cooking, but much of the session involved watching rather than doing. Most participants had little or no opportunity to use cooking utensils or prepare ingredients themselves. The chef prepared the dishes quite quickly, and while it was interesting to see the finished results, there was limited explanation of the techniques, ingredients, or cooking methods, so we did not come away feeling that we had learned much about how to recreate the dishes at home.
The market visit was also less engaging than we had anticipated. Rather than receiving much information about the market, its history, or the local produce, we were largely left to explore on our own for around 20 minutes. We had hoped for more insight into Barcelona's food culture and the role the market plays in it.
In addition, it was sometimes difficult to hear the guide, and at times it was hard to see what was being demonstrated. We also felt that questions from participants were not always encouraged as warmly as we had expected.
The food we tasted was enjoyable, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running these experiences. However, I think the description should better reflect the level of participation involved. Travellers seeking a truly hands-on cooking class with detailed instruction may find that this experience differs from their expectations.
I hope this feedback is helpful both to future visitors and to the organisers, as the class has the potential to be much more engaging with a greater emphasis on participation and teaching.
Only 12 people in the class. We were able to choose how we wanted to participate - cutting veggies or prepping the mussels/shrimp. The chef took us through the steps with lots of detail and passion. We also learned how to make sangria. The result was lovely paella that will make it hard to compare to future paellas - so delicious that it makes me want to not order from other places with the fear of being disappointed. A lovely experience overall.
Delicious paella. Loved sharing this experience with my two kids. They had so much fun. It was so interactive. We enjoyed the quick trip to Boqueria to pick out the ingredients. Loved meeting new people
Luca was very personable and informative, and together our group created a delicious and beautiful paella! Great experience
If you love paella or want to learn how to make it, this is a definite must! Luca was our skilled chef and he was a very kind and generous host. His passion and love for food shows in how he describes his cooking methods. The class starts with a quick trip to the market, followed by sangria (or other non alcoholic drinks) and a great selection of tapas Luca quickly put together for us. From there, the group helps prep some items for the paella. Luca described each step and the purpose as he and the group makes the paella. The finished paella was the best meal we had in Barcelona and everyone left with more than enough to eat, good company, and new skills to try paella making at home (which I can’t wait to try). Phenomenal time, thank you Luca!
Milo was an amazing host! Super friendly, funny and knowledgeable! Would definitely do this again! 5 stars!
I booked the cooking experience to learn how to make a good paella since I learned cooking seafood paella online.
Our chef is Andres. First, we went to the Mercat and bought fresh large prawns, mussels, squid and cuttlefish (provided by the tour). Andres is very knoledgeable and very entertaning from the beginning. Told us some histories and facts about catalan, barcelona and of course the art of cooking paella. After the market, we went/walk to the cooking place. They provided us red sangria, cheese and different ham and chorizos which are delicious. Andres then now explain the steps of cooking. He gave us different tasks like one is cutting the bell peppers, cleaning the musvles and cutting the legs of the prawns. Then he proceed to cooking. I was impressed how he cooked the paella. When it was finished, we ate the paella. I was surprised that it was so delicious. It’s our 3rd time having paella in town since we visited and his paella is so far the best! Amazing and I highly recommended for first timers in Barcelona. We loved it 😍
He was knowledgeable and informed. He was engaging and witty! It was great way to see the city and learn about Barcoelona
Great experience. Chef was very professional and funny. Good bunch of people and very personal touch
I came to Barcelona with my mom on a mother-daughter trip. I really wanted to take a paella making class and came across this one. I particularly liked that part of the experience is going to the Mercat de la Boqueria! We get to walk around and experience that while Milo (one of our chefs) buys the seafood for the paella. Then he walks us through some neighborhoods on our way to where the class will be held. Manny (our class’ main chef) greeted us and was sooo kind and informative. This class is super interactive and fun! Manny goes over what ingredients and how much to add and step by step we participate in chopping vegetables, stirring the seafood and cutting the seafood. Overall this was a super fun experience that my mom and I both really enjoyed. We got to meet new people also taking the class and chit chat while we enjoyed the paella we made. 10/10 recommend for anyone coming to Barcelona!
Met up at a bar, then off to the market. Our time there was shortened due to a protest. Walked to our cooking venue and had an excellent demonstration/participation on making paella.
Loved the entire experience and our cook, Milos, was amazing and so friendly! The food was so good!!!!
Manny was an amazing chef for our paella class! He was friendly, personable, and made the experience so much fun. The paella was absolutely delicious, and we learned a lot along the way. Highly recommend!
What a lovely afternoon! So fun and interactive. Loved that there was no pressure to cook or chop but we observed and ate a lovely meal.
Highly recommend as it’s a great way to break up a trip and just stop.
What a fantastic experience! Chef Andres was hilarious, engaging, and made the entire class so much fun from start to finish. His instructions were clear and easy to follow, and he did a great job getting everyone involved. The tapas and sangria were absolutely delicious, and of course the paella we made was incredible. Whether you’re a beginner or someone who loves to cook, this class is a great way to spend an afternoon in Barcelona. Highly recommend!
I have mixed feelings about the tour. The tour started an hour late for reasons never really explained but once it did was excellent. Our chef Andres was funny and also great at teaching everything about cooking paella. The kitchen was professional and comfortable. The paella itself was better than any I have had in a restaurant. If not for the delay would have given 5 stars. As is thought about giving 3 but settled on 4.
Milo was a great instructor. Loved the small class size which allowed us to be very involved in the cooking process. Paella came out great :)
