Our tour guide Frédéric was marvelous. My husband and I surprisingly ended up with a private tour. The tour was quite enlightening and very educational. Frédéric explained a lot. Since it was just us, we had his undivided attention. Very appreciative. We missed out on getting into the colosseum because of a gladiator festival taking place all weekend, but seeing the townsman dressed up in Roman period was entertaining. The Pont-du-Gard was
an amazing sight to see. Since it was a half day tour, we were able to see everything and still have time to do our own sightseeing in Avignon.

Friendly, informative and fascinating. Great guide Tiery who really knew his history. Made it possible to see a lot in a short space of time.

Would recommend for people who don't have much time and need to hit multiple spots in one day. Pont du Gard is a bit out of the way so this is the main reason we joined this tour.

Nice trip to three major sites around Avignon. We had enough time in each place. Our driver/guide was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Unfortunately he did not go with us into the colosseum in Nîmes and the town of Uzès. He just dropped us off with instructions on where to go and then picked us up one hour later. He did go with us to the Pont du Gard, and his explanations and storytelling were great. Total duration was about 5 hours. It was an afternoon well spent.

Very bad tour for viator Only 30 minutes spent in 2 places and 45 in Nimes and spent more time waiting for the guide who was late picking us up outside at the tourist office and then a good 15 minutes in Nimes which must of cut in to the time we spent in Uzes only 30 minutes very disappointed guide was just going through the motions no interest in his job not like the amazing Natalie on my other tour

Our guide for the day, Thierry, did much more than required to make our day a special one. Moreover, he knew his local history and its larger context -- after all, the day is all about Roman history -- and he also managed to work in some medieval history, too. I particularly enjoyed the Pont-du-Gard aquaduct (be sure to see it from the top of the cliffs on each side of the structure, which requires ascending a lot of steps, but it will be worth it, particularly if the sun striked one side of the ruin more than the other), the Roman arena in Nîmes (which as far as I'm concerned is a full-fledged Roman colliseum, so massive is it -- even if much smaller than the one in Rome), and don't forget the Roman temple only a block or two away in Nîmes, which is well worth seeing because it's so well-preserved. (I had the impression that seeing the temple was "optional," though I could be wrong -- in any event, I certainly did not want to miss it, especially since it was such a short walk from the arena.) The visit to Uzes has nothing to do with Roman history, but it's a nice place to take a break between the Roman ruins in Pont-du-Gard and Nîmes, and since the Uzes visit falls around lunch time you can grab a bit to eat there. I highly recommend the ratatouille at Les Terroirs, if you want to experience this classic local fare (which was often surprisingly absent from menus elsewhere): it was perfect, and quite possibly the best dish I ate while in France.

Thank you for your review! I'll pass the message to Thierry. It's the advantage of visiting the region in low season, when you're the only participants, our driver-guide could make a "tailor made" tour for you.

The guide, “Terry,” was knowledgeable and friendly and rearranged the tour to make the most of the unusually rainy weather. Also, he went out of his way to help us catch a bus after the tour.

Pont Tour
Traveler Beware
My wife and I have never left negative feedback for any tour, but we rely heavily on reviews when making our decisions, so we are trying to hopefully help others. We are frequent visitors of France, Italy, and England. We also use Viator almost solely for tours in multiple countries and cities in the US. This tour is not as described and travelers need to know this. Take this review as you will, but it will help.
First, this tour company changed tour days and times on us with an email the night before. They changed our entire itinerary that we booked months in advance because two other travelers wanted to change. We were not asked to change. They just changed our plans for the two tours we booked and sent an email the night before that we jus happened to notice.
Second, this tour is not a tour. The driver is not a guide. Julienne offered no information about anything we passed or any place that we visited. The tour was supposed to start at 2:30, but by the time we picked everyone up, it was well past 3:30. We did not arrive in the village Nîmes (the first stop) until after 5:00. We were then given 35 minutes to view the coliseum. We had to run around it just to see it to be back in time. We did not visit nor discuss any of the other attractions listed in the “What to Expect” section. Nîmes isn’t worth visiting either. There is honestly nothing there except for the coliseum. Next, we spent over an hour driving to Uzes. This time we were given 20 minutes to look around. This was not enough time to go in stores, sit at a cafe, or leave the main square (not my words...this is what we were told). Once more, we did not talk about nor see anything in the “What to Expect” section. Again, it was another place that was not worth stopping. We then left here and went to see the Pont du Garde. The whole reason for the tour. It took about 30 minutes to get there and we were given 25 minutes to see this historical landmark. Our “guide’s” exact words were, “Run up. Snap a picture, and then please hurry back.” Our group was running to get to a point to see the bridge, and we had no time to even cross the bridge as it is about a 10 minute walk from the drop off area. We did not have time to explore the museum, or even stop to take it all in. So in total, we spent 1:20 hours of a 5 hour tour actually seeing sites. This is not acceptable for the money that you pay. Our “guide” offered no suggestions, no history, and no commentary on anything through the trip. I am planning on contacting Viator when I arrive home about this. We have never experienced anything like this before. Please look around before you consider this tour and this company.

This should be a whole day tour. Not enough time at each of the attractions. The guide Thierry was good, but rushed through the half day tour as he had another tour to work after ours.

Very good sites for the tour. We did not mind being picked up at our hotel as per brochure. Although animated at Uzes, our tourist guide was a bit lackadaisical and off-handed in telling us more about Nimes and Pont Du Gard historical sites We would have enjoyed it more if he was more descriptive about these points of interest rather than leave us at each 'entrance' of both points and say - I will see you here in 30 minutes..

Our tour guide Emmanuel is a very funny guy! Great english! Lots of anecdotes and knows his history well.
He didn't rush the tour even though some people were taking longer time. Great tour overall, great information! Both my bf and I enjoyed it very very much!
OH!!! I'm very into photography, he takes us to spots that has great angles for photos!!!!
Uzes was definitely the highlight of it all!!! Super chic modern cute french town
Alexander_H, Aug 2016
It was a wonderful tour, wish we can spend more time at each location. Recommend a full day tour on the three sites.
egrammar, Jul 2015
Our tour guide/driver, JB, provided a wealth of information about the sites we saw on this trip and was also very entertaining. The only shortfall of this tour is that each location could provide a few hours of fabulous sightseeing this was a whirlwind half day of wow moments.
