The meeting point is beside the entrance to Sky City Hotel and Casino which is in the drive-through between Victoria Street and Federal Street. The entrance to the hotel is 10 metres opposite the base of the Auckland Sky Tower a well known iconic landmark in Auckland Central Business District CBD.

Itinerary
Begin with pickup from a central location in Auckland's CBD, and then travel out of the city center to West Auckland in a climate-controlled vehicle. On the way, you’ll cruise through the scenic areas of Waimaulu, Kumeu and Huapai, the latter of which translates as “the place of excellent fruit” in Māori.
On arrival in Muriwai, roughly 26 miles (42 km) west of central Auckland, jump out of the vehicle to explore with your guide. Walk along the sparkling black sands and learn more about the area’s history. Then, continue to Otakamiro Point, whose cliffs and rocky nesting areas are home to the region’s only gannet colony.
Next, continue to Kumeu River Wines, Matua Wines or West Brook wine estate, where you’ll take part in a guided wine tasting, sampling fine local varietals such as pinot gris, pinot noir and riesling.
Your tour concludes with a drop-off back at the original departure point.

BOOK THIS TOUR or at least a tour with THIS tour guide/company!!! It was such a blast, the day really flew by. The wineries were stunning and tasteful wines - curated tasting to our palates and a little outside of our "taste bud box" as well. We visited Soljans first. Denise was delightful sharing her knowledge and family history. Hearing of 5 generations and the family ties was heartwarming and I think, came through in the beauty of their wines & port. Oh the port! Yummy! I took a whole bottle home 🤭. I like the little gift shop as well - very reasonable priced. We then visited a black sand beach and could take enough photos of the birds (gannet). Followed by visiting Westbrook winery - with stunning scenery /vineyard. It was rainning so we sat inside which was pretty and cozy as well. Not to mention the step by step tasting session. Another lovely set of 5 wines & fabulous food menu (charcuterie, pizzas, & more). They even allowed us to try some grapes off the vine on our way out.
I've saved the best for last, if you've read this far.. rhe tour guide, John, has an astounding depth of wine knowledge! I can't even begin to tell his story - that is for him to tell, so I beg you to ask him because it is truly beyond fascinating! He could go deep into the science or worldly experiences or explain why certain notes appear in a wine due to the growing process. Not to mention he can explain things in simple terms too if needed 😊
I am beyond grateful to have taken this tour and highly recommend it, if you can!

This is a great trip from Auckland. Visit two wineries and see a spectacular black beach.

We had the most incredible winery tour, and so much of that is thanks to John. He’s been doing this for decades, and it shows in the best way. His knowledge of the region, the wines, and the local culture runs deep, and we learned so much without it ever feeling scripted or rushed. Beyond the wineries, John took us to special spots we never would have found on our own, including a stunning beach where we saw amazing birds and took in views that felt completely untouched. From start to finish, we felt genuinely taken care of. It was a true VIP experience. Close, personal, relaxed, and very relational. Not just a tour, but a day spent with someone who truly loves this area and knows how to share it. Highly recommend for anyone who wants something special, not generic.

Wow, a great tour. John picked us up on time and we had a great day. He was patient and very knowledgeable, great stories. He let us visit the Gannet colony too, in between the vineyards. Would definitely recommend his tour to anyone in Auckland for half day.

This tour was really fantastic. John was the perfect guide who was so warm and friendly and genuinely wanted us to have the best time. Unlike other wine tours, we actually learned so much, thanks to John’s passion and knowledge.
The weather was a little unpredictable, but John managed to fit in scenic stops and toon some great photos. We will forever cherish our memories of Auckland and will drink the wine forever!

John, our tour guide and driver, was great.
