Not worth it

Chrissy, Jul 2026
This was not worth the money - book directly through the Acropolis. The price shown on the tickets was much higher than that on the Acropolis website, and I assume this was marked up because of the audio tour. We thought we had downloaded the correct tour ahead of time, but both my husband and I could not get the tour to work, despite downloading the app and using the code sent while we were on wifi. We then spent valuable time standing inside the Acropolis gate trying to figure it out. We gave up and just walked around and saw that they had QR codes and a free app once inside. We also felt very rushed for the 7pm entry - they started ringing the bells and clearing us before 8pm. So while it was a beautiful time to visit as the sun was setting, it was very rushed. Overall I am very disappointed and would highly recommend just booking a tour though the official website.

The audio guide was...

Michael_D, Jul 2026
The audio guide was excellently narrated, but it was somewhat difficult to follow where we should be at each step on the way. Better pictures would have helped because, unlike many museums and historic sites, there were no identifying signs marking the way. Despite the inconvenience of not always knowing where we should be, I would use Viator self-guiding tours again.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Dear Michael, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the narration of the audio guide and that it enhanced your visit to the Acropolis. At the same time, we appreciate your comments regarding the navigation between points of interest. The Acropolis is a unique archaeological site with very limited modern signage in order to preserve its historic character, and we understand that this can occasionally make it challenging to follow a self-guided route. Thank you as well for your recommendation and for choosing Key Tours. We hope to welcome you again on another memorable experience in Greece. Kind regards, The Key Tours Team

small price for not booking in advance

Jeffrey_B, Jun 2026
Obviously this is just a way to get tickets once they sell out, so I guess mixed feelings since they clearly just buy them out and then mark them up. But, the markup isn’t that high and it worked very smoothly. I didn’t try the audio tour, there are multiple free ones you can download.

Fantastic tour and Guide (Dou)

Michelle_L, Jun 2026
The tour was fantastic!! Dou is a walking encyclopedia!! So knowledgeable and kind. Enjoyed every minute of this tour.

Handy Acropolis tickets

Maya_D, Jun 2026
We could not get our Acropolis tickets for the time we wanted via the government site (Hellenic Heritage), so these came in very handy. We ended up not using the Plaka guide (possibly advertised that way to account for the markup?), but the tickets were legit to an amazing experience.

Very crowded so it was hard to enjoy each stop along the way. The audio took a bit to figure out but was ok once it got going.

Janet_D, May 2026
Arrived late due to flight delay & new passport checks which took over an hour to get out of airport. By the time our transfer got us to our hotel & we walked to the Parthenon we were 1.5 hours late so they would not honor our tickets

Not worth the money spent

Lori_M, May 2026
Could not get the app to work. No one answered my messages. This is the second tour I have taken with Victor in the last week. Neither was worth a fraction of what was paid. I will let everyone know to choose a different company for tours.

The audio commentary was...

Michael_B, May 2026
The audio commentary was informative, i liked how it started automatically when you reached the designated geo location.

Great tour. Great price. Wonderful experience.

Justin_C, Dec 2025
Great pass. Wonderful experience. The tour made it easy to skip the line and proceed directly into the experience.

Frustrating experience

Euwanda_E, Oct 2025
Getting the tickets the day of the tour was confusing and hard. The instructions werent clear and parts were contradictory for how to get tickets. We never did use the audio. I had to call Viator to help me get tickets to get inside. Frustrating.

Buy tickets in advance

Patrice_S, Oct 2025
It is best to buy your tickets ahead of time on line. The line to get in gets long quick. Our friends hired a guide once arriving at the Acropolis. We did not, toured the sight on our own.

Athens Acropolis and the Panthenon

Lori_F, Oct 2025
We did not realize that you had to download the audio. We thought there would be headphones there available for us, so we did not get the whole experience. That was a little disappointing.

Great experience

Oxana_D, Oct 2025
It was nice to have tickets to Acropolis, since there was a line to the ticket office and only later entry times available. Provided QR codes worked without any issues. I did not use audio guide

Very easy to use. Without it I would have been lost. The information was great.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get your tickets at the acropolis. You don’t need an audio tour for this

Joel_B, Oct 2025
It’s an ok audio guide. Very short and not worth the extra money. Buy your tickets at the entrance. It’s not packed at all if you get there before 10a. The narrator in English has a very thick accent so be prepared to listen closely.

Michelle_D, Oct 2025
Convenience to skip the line, amazing vistas, but crowded, despite the 8am tour. The tour narration was very informative.

Times tickets = worth it, Audio Guide = trash

David_S, Oct 2025
Worth it to make sure we could get timed tickets, and not get scammed when buying these tickets. You don’t meet up as a group - you get your tickets and go solo. The audio guide is awful.

A great self paced tour...

David_M, Oct 2025
A great self paced tour that should be a must for all to visit Athens. An amazing part of the world that is constantly undergoing maintenance for the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Seamless and Enriching Experience!

Lavalle_W, Sep 2025
Booking the Acropolis & Parthenon Admission Ticket with self-guided audio tours through Viator was an excellent choice. The process was quick and easy, and having the ticket in advance made entering the site completely hassle-free. The self-guided audio tour was a huge bonus—it allowed me to explore at my own pace while still learning the rich history and fascinating details of the Acropolis and Parthenon. The narration was clear, informative, and really brought the ancient ruins to life. Walking among these iconic landmarks with the flexibility to stop, listen, and take in the views was unforgettable. This is a must-do experience in Athens, and I highly recommend booking through Viator for convenience and peace of mind.

Athens, up close and delicious!!!😍

Lida_D, Sep 2025
Greece is such a unique country with so much to offer! The food walking tour gave us a look, a taste and a better understanding of all that Greece, especially Athens, is all about!

Adequate but not ready for prime time

Patrick_D, Sep 2025
The instructions given with the purchase are incomplete. You need to determine the entrance location with the provided map which is the same entrance everyone else is using. Join the line to be at the main entrance at your assigned time. There may be people ahead of you with later entry times so you may need to go past them. HOWEVER, if you need to use the toilet or think you might while you are on the acropolis, you need to use the OUTSIDE the main entrance on the right hand side. There could be a line for the toilets so get there early and then get in the admission line. When they call your time, you may enter. Press start on your audio tour at this time as they are a bit wordy. If you enjoy the audio, continue playing it. You can replay or jump around but I found it cumbersome and frustrating. I ended up turning off the tour and viewing the various sites on top and reading the English descriptions of what I was viewing. There were a few tour groups you could glean some information from but most of my time was spent viewing the various locations. You cannot enter any of them as they are roped off. Some have scaffolding for repairs or support. There are only a few benches on top to rest at. The climb can be strenuous if you are out of shape. I recommend 2 bottles of water at least (.5 liter). The nice thing about this ticket is that you can proceed at your own pace and not be tied to a tour group. You can find one of the few benches and sit for an hour if you like and then continue without pressure. You can also read the dialogue of the tour as opposed to listening to it or you can play it as many times as you like to enhance your understanding. I’d suggest doing your own research about the Acropolis before going to have a better idea of what you are supposed to be looking at. We spent a total of 2 hrs and 15 minutes from the time we entered until we left. Other than the cheesy dialogue, the lack of concise instructions, and a warning about lack of facilities on top, the tour accomplished what I needed it to.

Nicholas_O, Sep 2025
You’re paying the premium for the early entry/ skipping the lines. The audio tour is awful - Viator should be more transparent about what this is

Very busy - audio is pants

Lisa_f, Sep 2025
Very busy even at 8am - don’t bother with audio when so busy , as rubbish ! Either go without or get a guide !

No direction

Bryan_M, Sep 2025
No direction after booking. We were told it was an audio tour and to meet at 11:00am. We arrived at 10:25am, sent messages with no response.

Rubs145, Aug 2025
It is very simple just follow the directions in the email. Definitely made entry simple and not too mu Cu description that it bored you

poor

NATALIE_B, Aug 2025
Poor communication prior. Over crowded. Not clear instructions of where to work to next. A lot of construction on site.

Not worth the money

Peter_H, Aug 2025
It was misleading & expensive. There was no need to pre purchase tickets as there was no queues at 9am. I did not understand that I needed to download the app before I went. As I am travelling & need wifi to download I could not access the self guided tour.

Acropolis

Stan_R, Jul 2025
Amazing how much history is preserved. Beautiful piece and beautiful views. Please wear proper shoes, it is a very slippery hike up marble stairs/rocks.

Not satisfied

Robert_T, Jul 2025
The instructions are not clear at all. PDF tickets are sent to your email which we used at the main gate for entry but for the audio guide, which is the most important tool for the tour, we never got to use. Didn't know if we were supposed to download an app or if there was a link. Was not informed if a code was needed and none was provided to access the audio guide. Even if we had access to audio, how would the app know what to describe to us based on our location? Did we need to turn our 'GPS locator' on? What if we only had WiFi and no data so GPS wouldn't work for us anyway? So we basically paid the whole price for half the experience. And of course, learning about the monuments as we toured them was the whole point.
