This tour was wonderful in a number of ways, most significantly as I was able to book it the night before with the help of Viator customer support and access to the tour operator after another company had cancelled my Delphi Day Tour. Delphi was one of my primary destinations for this trip and I am really grateful to the operator of CHAT Tours for accommodating me for the comfortable 2 day bus tour and also for coordinating a last minute memorable pilgrimage and private tour opportunity with a driver to the Lion of Chaeronea.

The tour each day was about 50 people which was way too large. The guides did not use audio devices so it was hard to hear them and everyone either jostled close to the guide trying to hear, or lost interest and wandered away. The bus each day was completely full, and the seats so close together it was painful, worse than Economy Class on a cheap airline. And finally, on the Delphi trip, we were taken for lunch to the Hotel Amalia, and it was perhaps the most disgusting meal I have ever had. The hostess was a Gorgon who demanded we sit where she arbitrarily placed us without reference to our friends and traveling companions. We were placed at a table for 6, with a Japanese couple and an Italian couple, none of whom spoke English well, but all of whom wanted to practice on us. Every table around us was served first, and in some cases, were getting seconds, before we were served. Every time the Gorgon passed behind me with her tray I got her buttocks against my neck. The food was appalling. Chicken in congealed grease, eggplant swimming in oil, and roasted potatoes that were stone cold. We were never offered drinks other than water, though all other tables were. It was truly awful, and I cannot imagine why you would use this restaurant.

Trips via bus that are longer than two hours require buses with bathrooms onboard or more frequent pit spots. It wasnt fun to have the guide announce over the intercom to all other passengers that we were making an emergency bathroom stop for a single passenger. Another step in the right direction would be improvements on the wi-if service.

loved this trip. guides were excellent. views at Delphi are not to be missed.

Amazing!!! This is NOT to be missed!! Wonderful experience, easy hotel pick-up with wonderful knowledgeable tour guides.

The tour was fantastic and our guide was clearly knowledgeable about the sights and the city in general. I would've loved more time sightseeing though! The time just flew past us in Delphi and in Athens, so if anything, I'd just want the tour to be a little longer to allow us time to take in everything. :

I wish I would have saved myself some money and just booked a tour to Delphi and not include the Athens Sightseeing tour. Both trips provide a tour guide that is very knowledgeable of the history of the sites. The difference was that Acropolis and the acropolis museum get way too crowded, and it makes it hard to even listen to what your tour guide is saying. We ended up just leaving the Athens tour to wander around the area ourselves.

This was our least favorite of the tours we booked through Viator. The day in Delphi was great, but our guide in Athens was long-winded, focused on odd details, and we watched loads of other tourists walk by us to key sights while we were stuck standing there listening. We actually ended up just leaving the group and venturing out on our own to maximize time.

Excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour deeply rich in exchange

Value for money tour with knowledgeable guides and well thought of itineraries

Very informative and enjoyable! Enjoyed the tour of Athens better than Delfi. Joy was especially good as a tour guide!!

The guide wasn't as great for our Athens tour as the Delphi tour. However, both tours were enjoyable. I would recommend getting the lunch in Delphi - it was really tasty. Be prepared for a 3 hour ride to Delphi bring an iPod or something, though the guide will give you some tidbits of information along the way.

Such a great experience!! Even though it was a rainy day, it didn't sully the experience of seeing such a beautiful place. The guide did a great job of bringing it all to life.

This was amazing! our Tour guide was hilarious and very informative... We were a group of 4 and she had us amused the entire time.....

The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and have a great sense of humor. They work really hard to make the tours great for everyone. The tickets for the Acropolis also work for other tourist attractions like the Temple of Zeus and the Agora. Our Athens experience was wonderful!

Excellent tour! The tour guides were very informative and interested in us having a great time. I learned a lot ! One tip is to wear good walking shoes and a hiking stick is useful for the Delphi Day trip. There are a lot of stairs, Still the views are outstanding and well worth the exercise. Highly recommended!

very enjoyable-covered all the historic items and was well-planned with a great guide each day

The pace of the tour is just about right to see all the major sights and not feel overly rushed. The guide was well informed and personable. The bus was comfortable and the days ran smoothly for the most part. I would take the tour again with the same group!

It is always nice to get acquainted with a new city by doing a coach tour to get oriented. The guide was very informative and we felt we saw the highlights and could circle back to explore some places in more depth. Delphi was a great experience. The drive through the countryside was delightful. It gives a sense of the agricultural lifestyle. The archaeological site was fascinating. There is a bit of a hike up to the stadium, so wear comfortable shoes! The museum is terrific 9and air conditioned!.

I went to Greece with my 12 year old son. We had such a great time. The tour guides on both trips were awesome they were friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend these tours.
czerica.ramirez, Apr 2015
Very informative. The Delphi part was a bit too short though for such long travel. But the lunch was nice and it was a well organised trip.
daisyhfu, Apr 2015
It was raining, so the tour guide just pointed out temple of Athens instead of leading us there to walk around. I saw in the past review other guests were allowed to go there. Temple of Apollo was amazing

Fun fun fun! On both activities the guides were great and knew their stuff. I learned a lot both about the Acroplis in Athens and the Delphi site. Make sure you do the City tour early because the ticket you get for Acroplis is good for others sites in the city such as the Roman Agora. The tour company actually call the hotel the day before to confirm pick up time! That's great service!

Our guides answered all our questions and were very knowledgable. Views were WONDERFUL!!!
Sks1957, Oct 2014
The tour was enjoyable and the guide was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot more about the sights we visited than we would have on our own. The downside was the size of the group and the many pick up spots around Athens. We had an early pick up point and sat on the bus waiting for people who had not arrived on time or were not ready. Would have preferred to sleep in rather than driving around Athens on a bus picking up people from various locations.

This review is difficult to write as it comprises two tours, both of whic were on opposite ends of the spectrum.
The first tour, Athens, was incredible. Joy was fantastic as she kept the tour moving, was kind and courteous and really brought the history to life in her descriptions. She answered all questions and even stayed after to make sure we all had directions for where we wanted to go next. I highly recommend her and the Athens tour. Five stars!
The Delphi tour was a different story. The Delphi tour deserves 1 star. Don't get me wrong, the actual area was incredible, it was the tour guide who was awful. Her name was Lila and she droned on and on talking about silly details, but failing to point out what the large pieces of architecture was. If you asked any questions she claimed that she had already answered it and then shamed you in front of the group. During the tour she left 10 min to walk around the magnificent area which left no time to see anything on your own. On the way back, instead of letting us nap she talked loudly on the microphone telling a historically inaccurate version of the Oedipus Rex story.
Recap: do the Athens and Delphi tours, just make sure you don't have Lila. I honestly want my money back for the Delphi tour. She ruined it that bad.

This tour has the best of Athens, the tour guide was great and knew a lot about the history. Delphi was a great trip with amazing views, and full of history. This was a great opportunity to visit different landscapes in a short time.
Roy M, Nov 2013
The tour guide for the Athens sightseeing tour kept racing ahead and I was unable to keep up with the tour. Consequently I unfortunately missed much of the tour. The tour guide for the Delphi day trip appeared to be knowledgeable about Delphi and kept to a mangeable pace during the tour of the Delphi site. However, the mini van/coach for the day tour was cramp and uncomfortable with very little leg room .
