Great, until the return trip to Athens!

Donna_F, Apr 2026
From pickup in Athens to Meteora through drop off in Delphi this tour was excellent! The bus ride from Delphi to Athens was terrible! The bus ride from Delphi to Athens was 25 minutes late to pickup, and then stopped for more pickups, then soon after, the bus driver took a 20-30 minute break. On arrival to Athens he stopped a few times to drop off, then we arrived at Bus Terminal about 7:45 instead of scheduled estimated time of 6:30. All of this while we were sitting in assigned seats so close together I couldn’t move my feet and no fan or air conditioning. The bus ride on Visit Meteora bus from Athens to Kalambaka was roomy and pleasant! The tour vans were pleasant. The 2 different tour guides, Jim and Dmitry, were informative, pleasant, and helpful! The driver of the minivan that took one other couple from our hotel to Delphi was a good driver needed to drive windy mountains. I would not recommend this 3 day trip. I originally had 2 different tours, 2 days to Meteora and 1 day Delphi. I had wanted to spend less time on the road and thought this would be better, but now know it wasn’t.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your detailed feedback and for sharing your experience with us. We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the Meteora part of the tour, as well as your time with our guides Jim and Dmitry, and that the Visit Meteora bus and local transfers met your expectations. Regarding the return journey from Delphi to Athens, we would like to clarify that this final leg is operated with a public bus service, not by Visit Meteora. We understand that this part of the experience did not meet your expectations, and we truly appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We are already looking into ways to improve this segment and provide better coordination and clearer communication to our guests. Your feedback is very valuable, and it helps us improve both our services and our partnerships. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future under better conditions.

A well organized tour

Tord_S, Apr 2026
This trip was very well organized. All the personnel including, the buss drivers and the guides all had full control of who were going where and what was going to happen next. The guide we had on day one in Meteora was very knowledgeable. Delphi It was one annoying thing about Delphi. When we bought tickets to the museum and the archeological site, we were forced to visit the museum first. This is not the fault of the tour operator, the museum only.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Tord, Thank you very much for your kind and detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you found the tour well organized and that our team made you feel confident and well guided throughout the journey. It’s also great to know you enjoyed your experience in Meteora and appreciated the knowledge of your guide. Regarding Delphi, thank you for pointing that out—indeed, the museum entry sequence is set by the site authorities and not something we can control, but we appreciate your understanding. We hope to welcome you again on another trip in Greece!

Buyer Beware!!

Beverly_S, Dec 2024
This is a very hands off company! You must be comfortable with little information and the ability to catch PUBLIC transportation with your luggage and possible kids in tow. You will begin like you are on a tour, in a tour bus, you will be dropped off at your hotel - the driver will have no information on your itinerary, if you have questions you must call the travel company. You will have a lot of free time - you will be responsible for figuring out the area and transportation. The hotel we were put in was nice, however the staff was extremely rude and this is the only place in Greece on our whole trip that we had awful food- the meat served to us at dinner was burnt to a crisp and tough. The highlight: The tour of Meteora and the local guides were amazing!!! Our third day on this tour was to see Delphi. Our driver arrived, we had ALL of our luggage outside waiting- he told us to get in the car he had our bags- they were all right there together- no other parties in site- just our luggage- he left two bags outside and drive away- we didn’t know until we are being dropped off a random hotel in Delphi that will store our luggage for the day- not in a secure location and this will be about a mile to the PUBLIC bus station. Thank goodness I had asked our driver to show us the bus station before he left and a near by restaurant owner took mercy on us and let us store our luggage in his store room right near the bus station- this was with no help from the tour company . So now it is up to us to figure out how to get our luggage- it will be going to Athens and it is our responsibility to figure out how to meet the bus- we didn’t have a rental car and two kids in tow- Visit Meteora offered NO solutions- I contacted our private driver from a few days ago and he met the bus driver and got our luggage. Visit Meteora told me they would reimburse me 30€ for his time- that didn’t happen. If you are wanting a well planned experience from a tour company that communicates and pampers you, this is NOT it. Their excuse that they have so many tour options, which is why the drivers and hotel staff aren’t able to help you , is unacceptable to me. I travel a lot and enjoy booking tours, this tour will make me really look at the reviews and make sure it’s an actual tour from beginning to end. This was during the off-season, I can only imagine how much more stressful it would have been at full capacity. Maybe, this company will at least give me the meager 30€ they said and maybe Viator will really look at this experience.

Dear Beverly, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and clarify the situation. Pre-Tour Communication: The detailed itinerary, including meeting points and transportation arrangements, was sent via email multiple times prior to your tour. These emails contained clear instructions and a Google Maps link to help you navigate effortlessly. Despite this, it seems the information was not reviewed beforehand. To assist, we promptly re-sent the itinerary when contacted. Driver Responsibilities: Our drivers are professionals tasked with ensuring safe and timely transfers. However, as outlined in our tour details, they are not responsible for providing verbal explanations of multi-day itineraries. These are thoroughly communicated in writing before the tour begins to ensure clarity and prevent misunderstandings. Luggage Incident: On the final day, our driver personally loaded several pieces of luggage from the hotel lobby into the vehicle. Later, we were informed by the hotel that two smaller backpacks had been left outside. While such items are typically kept with clients in the vehicle, we immediately took responsibility for resolving the issue. Although this was not solely our driver’s fault, we apologized and ensured the backpacks were delivered to Athens the same evening at no extra cost to you. Additionally, we refunded an amount equivalent to the cost of retrieving the items via Uber, so you can reach the meeting point or deliver the items at your door with UBER paid by us! Tour Expectations: This tour is designed as a semi-private experience, combining structured activities with ample free time for personal exploration. While we provide extensive guidance, this format encourages independent exploration, which some clients may find different from fully guided tours. Misleading Claims: We are disappointed to see false claims in your review. Contrary to your statement, we did offer a refund of €30.00 to cover the Uber cost for retrieving your backpacks. Additionally, your assertion that we stopped at a “random hotel” in Delphi, one mile from the bus station, is untrue. The hotel where your luggage was stored was pre-arranged by us to ensure its safety and is located just 340 meters from the bus station—not one mile as claimed. Positive Feedback: On a brighter note, we are delighted that you found our tour guides amazing! Our team takes immense pride in delivering exceptional guided experiences, and it’s gratifying to know this aspect of the tour met your expectations. Lastly, we must address your request for a $750 refund. This demand far exceeds what would be reasonable compensation for the incidents described and reflects behavior that we believe does not align with the situation. Despite this, we have gone above and beyond to address your concerns promptly and fairly. We regret any inconvenience you experienced and hope this clarifies our efforts to assist you throughout the tour. Your feedback is valuable and will help us refine our services for all our clients. Kind regards, George

A Great Trip

Robert_A, Sep 2024
This was a terrific trip/tour. Very well organized and managed. For this destination the 3-day trip is a must. I highly recommend it, because It cannot/should not be done as a single day trip. The Hotel Kaikis where we were put was excellent and very comfortable. With the 3-day trip there is ample time to rest, eat, shop and enjoy the town of Kalabaka.

Meteora bus tour great but better to book as standalone. Misleading "package deal"

Daniel_M, Jun 2024
The tour guides in Meteora itself were excellent and would highly recommend those bus tours as a standalone item. But the overall package deal was very disappointing value. The booking implies they will handle everything end to end, but actually they are totally hands off with the bus elements to and from Athens and Delphi. I was late for the bus by a few minutes and for the price I paid for a "package deal" would expect for them to wait for all guests to arrive. But when I called to tell them I would be a few minutes late I was told they didn't even have the direct contact of the driver, the bus left without me and I had to pay for train on my own to meet up with group in Meteora. They did not offer any reimbursement. Similarly for the return leg to Delphi they just drop you off and you have to deal with public bus back to Athens on your own. Also, the "3 star hotel" accommodation is more like 1 star... Overall I would definitely book the Meteora bus tour on its own. But if I dealt with my own transport and hotel bookings separately I could have had exactly the same experience for a much cheaper price. For something at this price point and something positioned as an all-in package deal it did not feel like an integrated hands-on service experience.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Dear Daniel, Thhank you for your feedback regarding the Meteora & Delphi 3 Days Semi Private Tour. We sincerely appreciate your comments and are glad to hear that you enjoyed the Meteora bus tour itself. We would like to address your concerns about the overall package deal. The bus schedules are strict to ensure that all guests have the best possible experience. Waiting for delayed clients would unfortunately be unfair to those who arrive on time and would disrupt the schedule for the entire group. Our team strives to maintain a balance between accommodating individual needs and adhering to the set itinerary. Regarding your situation, our staff made efforts to provide an alternative solution, ensuring you didn't miss out on the Meteora experience. While we understand this was an inconvenience, we hope you can appreciate that our primary goal is to keep the tour running smoothly for everyone. We are sorry to hear that the accommodation did not meet your expectations and will look into this matter to ensure our standards are maintained. We appreciate your recommendation of the Meteora bus tour and hope to provide a more satisfactory experience should you choose to travel with us again. Best regards, George

Confusing start

Kathleen_K, Jun 2023
We had no info about itinerary once we arrived at train station. We found our names and were told to get on this bus but suddenly our names were called to get off the bus to go to our hotels where we were dropped off. No one could provide any information? We booked the tour separately and figured we would be at the same hotel but were not. Took a while to find someone to check me in and he finally provided some into but was still in the dark about the full 3 day tour. Would have been nice to receive some info on how all this was going to work time wise. The guides and tour were good...

Response from Host, Jun 2023

Thank you for your positive feedback regarding the tour and our tour guides. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us. Regarding the tour description, we would like to clarify that it is well-written and provided during the online tour presentation. We strive to ensure that all the necessary details about the itinerary, activities, and timeframes are clearly presented to our clients. Additionally, as part of our automated process, we send the tour description via email along with the vouchers and tickets.
