Overview

I have been to chocolate workshops in Mexico and Costa Rica, but this class in Arequipa, Peru was by far the most interesting and fun. Andres is an outstanding instructor. He is super knowledgeable, an engaging presenter, and made sure we were enjoying the workshop. Our whole family loves chocolate and we learned all about what makes chocolate “real or fake” and each member of our family was able to craft their own custom chocolates with high quality ingredients. This was the perfect activity for our family.
Andreas was very knowledgeable about the process of making chocolate from start to finish. His presentation was engaging, fun, and full of enthusiasm! You walk away with useful information about chocolate and a bag of self-made chocolate.
A perfect mix of theory and practice! Andres knows his stuff and is a great teacher, blending interesting facts with hands-on activities.
Excellent chocolate workshop: a small group and friendly host in a fun atmosphere, lots of interesting info and chocolate to taste, a hands-on experience and a yummy souvenir to take home 😋🍫 Highly recommended!
Tip: don't book anything else right after the class, as it might run a bit longer (and you definitely don't want to leave early when there's chocolate involved!) and you'll be so full of chocolate that you might need a wee nap 😅😴
A really interesting, and delicious, event. We learnt the difference between real and fake chocolate, sampled a drink from the Inca times, and got hands on making chocolates that you get to take home.
Such a fun informational experience the teacher was very enthusiastic. It was just a one on one class and he still made it fun for me. The chocolate was delicious and I learned A lot about Peruvian, chocolate sourcing

On our last day in Arequipa, we had the pleasure of joining the Chaqchao Chocolate Making Workshop. We grinded chocolate beans, tasted the ceremonial chocolate té the Inka drank, participated in the making of chocolate and ended up making our own chocolates to take home.
Our teacher (sorry, forgot the name) was super entertaining and really lifted the whole thing to another level. We had so much fun!
We went with our teenage daughter who also had a blast.
We did this workshop as a family and it was so much fun!! Our instructor Andreas was very informative and fun, and his English is superb! We learned the entire chocolate making process from grinding the beans, and even got to temper and make our own chocolates to take home. Andreas has a wonderful sense of humor and made this experience come alive!!
I knew it would be fun, but was surprised to find it so informative. Andres was excellent. With his energy, his patience, and his teachings.
We not only learnt about the real and fake chocolates, learnt to identify them by taste testing healthy, friendly competition, but also learnt to make a real good one from bean to consumption.
We left with a bag of chocolates we made ourselves, full bellies and a happy heart.

This was such an amazing experience. We were super lucky and it was only the two of us so we had our very own workshop. Andrés was great, so knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. I forget the guides name, but he was our bartender for dinner at the restaurant. It was really fun. The guide takes you through each process of chocolate making. Starting from seeing and holding a real chocolate pod, then handling chocolate beans and prepping them to be roasted and then mashing it in a mortar to make it a creamy chocolate and eventually you’ll go back downstairs to make your own chocolate with toppings and then trying different chocolates to see if they’re real or fake and how much cocoa is in each. It was really fun and I highly recommend it.
