My partner and I highly recommend this fantastic experience. Our tour guide Alex was highly organized, knowledgeable, professional and caring. The two days were packed with activity aside from the strenuous hike through the breathtaking Colca canyon. The overnight accommodation was very comfortable and the hosts were welcoming. This was not just a hike but a two day experience.

    Hard on the knees

    Juliette_S, Dec 2025
Great experience, but the first day is almost all going down hill (for approx 6hours) so if you have bad knees you should come prepared.

Great guide and activity but the company can do some small organizational improvements

Great things: - The guide was phenomenal, best guide we had in 40 days in Peru. We had Carlos and we loved him! Even our guide on our Puno transfer was fabulous. - The food on the hike itself was super delicious - The views are stunning and definitely worth it Areas of improvement: - This hiking tour never includes drinking water. Not even at camp or restaurants. I have never done a hiking tour where the camp didn't at least boil water for you to drink. It felt like a money grab. ( You had to buy it everywhere). - We arrived to camp at 4:00pm, dinner was at 7:00pm and then debrief for the next day at 8:00pm. For the hike start the next day I had to wake up at 3:40am. Why is dinner so late if the hiking starts so early? Especially after a 3:00am pick up from Arequipa the day before? - The transfer to Puno was good but a bit pricey. - There is one lunch everyone does that's not included. They should just make the price more and then include it. It was an expensive lunch.

    Very difficult hike-

    Clemence_C, Oct 2025
Let me start by saying that I consider myself a fit person, I had 2-3 days acclimating in Arequipa before the hike. But this wasn’t enough. The trek is really difficult, the 2D/1N is a high speed trek which almost no time to rest during the first day hike outside of the lunch break. The speed was way too fast, the guide did not care about people left behind. Which I find it hard for safety, as if you ll be suffering of altitude sickness you would not be able to reach him as it would be way far over. We were left at the back of the group, not able to take any breaks, and the tour guide did not help or came to check on us. At the end, we had about 30min-45min more of hike before reach the place to stay (oasis) and he left with the first part of the group to set up the night stay without caring for the rest of people left behind in the canyon. Oasis, let me tell you. The worse night ever, be prepared to have a bare minimum. No light in the “bathroom” even in private or communal one so bring your flash light. Cleaning wasn’t done on the bed; spiders were crawling off the bedsheets. Leak and cleaning wasn’t done on the bathroom. For the way up, on the second day it is 3h hike up hill, but if you need you can rent a mule. Altitude sickness is real even for fit people and speed is very high, therefore be careful when choosing this 2 day hike.

    Hiking Colca Canyon

Great tour with Oasis travels. Communication was good, guides were knowledgeable and fun, food was tasty. The hike is beautiful and easy. You only need some good endurance to hike out the next morning

Do not book with a guide, go on your own!

    Shelbi_K, Oct 2025
Go on your own! Do not book with a guide! BRING LOTS OF SNACKS. The bus broke down on the way to the canyon and we waited an hour with the bus door open, temperature was 8 degrees Celsius. The guide refused to tell anyone what was going on until the other bus arrived. We got to the canyon and went our own speed to the bottom. The guide did not check in, nor give us recommendations on speed, how many km ahead, incline and descent. You have to have experience hiking to complete this trek!!! We waited for the other hikers for 45 minutes as we could not pass without restaurant tickets. We waited an additional 2hrs for remaining hikers at the restaurant. The lunch food was very good, we ended up joining another group for the remainder of day 1. We stayed at the Oasis Parmesa, the food was not great, water for the pool and shower was cold. The bed sheets had blood stains on them. The guides did not inform us that we would have no food or breakfast before the hike on day 2, so we had no snacks. The oasis did not have any on-the go snacks to purchase. We woke up at 4am and hiked for 3 hrs on an empty stomach up 45 degree incline for a continuous 6km. The guides did not stop nor check in on anyone with altitude sickness or low blood sugar. I ended up hyperventilating from altitude sickness and 3 guides walked passed me. The other hikers were kind enough to check in and give me snacks. The breakfast restaurant food was cold, dry and very minimal compared to previous treks we’ve been on in Peru. The hot springs were very nice, and the all you can eat buffet on day two for lunch was great, both at an additional cost. We paid a total of $600 solos each for the two days one night, including additional costs for entrance to canyon, lunch and hot springs. Definitely not worth the total we paid!!! We recommended booking transportation and tickets on your own and you can do the whole hike in one day, but the upward hike to cabanaconde was very challenging. Staying in a nicer hostel at the bottom and then hiking the next day, would be our choice next time around.

    Definitely Recommend!

Had a great time on this one nighter. It was really interesting to get to meet some of the local families who live in the canyon and our guide Carlos was very knowledgeable about the plants and animals in the area. The hike on the second day does start before sunrise, so recommend bringing a headlamp if you have one even though it isn't explicitly included on the packing list.

    Very nice experience,...

Very nice experience, Rafael the guide was super fun and told us a lot of interesting and funny things.

    Great 2 days trekking 👌🏻

    Terence_T, Mar 2025
Great trek ! Have to have a relative amount of fitness though. Carlos was very professional guide 👍🏻

    Amazing!!!

    Ruth_K, Feb 2025
Amazing!!! This was such a worth while experience - Alex was our tour guide who went above and beyond. Accommodation was really comfortable, food provided was very tasty, really recommend the hot springs after. Thank you for a great experience!

Super fun team and energetic guide

    Lan_Y, Jan 2025
Our guide Rafael is super energetic, funny, knowledgeable, eager to share. The landscape is full of beauty and life, though can be a bit non-changing dull for those without sharp eyes. The girl team was very fit and fun. The non-stop laughing at snap game was unforgettable. The added snow mountain view and hot spring was nice. Walking slowly due to bird watching is less tolerated than that due to physical weakness🙃. I was rushed by a team member to finish hot spring and run back to the car, himself behind me chilling in a chair, "nice leadership". I hope we could have more flexibility and tailored service. However, overall experience was great.

    Super Difficult Hike

    Jessica_L, Jan 2025
Super Difficult Hike! The climb down the mountains were relatively uneventful. Our guide left us for half of it but our small group handled the trek down with relative ease. The accomodations were alright. The toilet in our room leaked from somewhere but the beds were comfortable and we slept well. On the way up the mountain the next day, our guide once again didn't walk with us for most of the hike. This led to a panic attack, since I didn't know how I could get to the top without knowing approximately how much further. The views were beautiful, but I would've rather had a different guide.

Nice tour but book through other platforms

    Saule_J, Dec 2024
Overall the tour was nice. We were lucky to have Carlos as our tour guide (and a nice group) who shared cool information about the region and some anecdotes. I guess this experience highly depends on your guide and the people you trek with. On the other hand, I would recommend the tour operator to improve breakfast quality and quantities. We had to “fight” for bread and coffee (e.g., one dehydrated coffee bag for 8 people) cause it was not enough for everyone at the table. Also, we were quite surprised that everyone paid different amount for this tour. We personally booked via Viator, and paid 30-50% more than the other people. Which is insane! So I recommend to book this directly through the operator.

Great tour with an incredible guide!

    Suraj_K, Dec 2024
Amazing trek! The guide Rafael made sure we got the full Colca canyon experience. It wasn't just the views, but his explanations of the culture, pointing out the various fruits and plants, and making sure we get around to see the different sites (including some animals and a volcano). Highly recommend!

    5/5

    Caroline_L, Oct 2024
Amazing experience! Hans, our guide, was great and provided good information. The food was also really good. Definitely recommend and really glad I chose the trek on a 2day trip.

    Amazing hike, very tough

    Richard_L, Oct 2024
The scenery is amazing, was a great hike down and up. Rafel was really informative, you can tell he cared a lot about the canyon & culture. Hot springs where a nice touch at the end. The accomodation was very basic, and overpriced water at the bottom

    Fantastic trekking experience

    Helena_K, Sep 2024
Amazing trek of Colca Canyon! A special thanks to Frank who was a fantastic leader and helped us so much (which was especially helpful as it was my first proper hike using hiking poles).

Great trek in the Cañon del Colca

    LouisPierre_T, Sep 2024
This was an amazing experience! Our guide Rafael was truly amazing, great energy and he gave lots of information during the trek. The two days trek is a little bit tough but really worth it! The sights we saw were beautiful, the food we ate was delicious and the people we met were great. I truly recommend this trek, it’s worth it!

    Worth every bead of sweat

    CLAREANN_J, Aug 2024
Without doubt this isn’t an easy hike, particularly in full sun and hot temperatures, but I was lucky enough to have Rafael as our guide. He is so supportive and caring and his love of the canyon made the hike so interesting that you forget how tired you are. His knowledge of the valley, it’s people, flora and fauna was fascinating. I was also impressed by the food and accommodation which far exceeded my expectations.

    Great trip

    Robert_H, Jun 2024
Rafael was a terrific leader and incredibly passionate about teaching us about Peru. Everything went super smooth. I could not recommend this tour more. Keep in mind day 2 morning hike is a grind, but it’s fulfilling.

incredible views and friendly guide rafel. Book it guys you won't regret it!

    Rea_B, Jun 2024
This was an incredible trip and for such great value. Rafel was an amazing guide . He told us some amazing stories about Peruvian culture and had an immense knowledge about all the nature and plants we saw on our journey. He was always friendly and full of energy. The canyon was absolutely stunning and pictures do not do it justice! It is a challenging hike on the 2nd day but not to be missed! On the second day we not only completed the hike but we also visited many wonderful sites such as the hot springs and saw so many alpacas and mountains. It was such an incredible trip. Thank you rafel .

    Overall great experience. I recommend!

    William_P, May 2024
Our guide Peter was awesome. Really knowledgeable about the plants in the canyon and their importance. Overall awesome experience. Only downside was our room in the hotel. There was a missing window so lots of insects.

    Colca Canyon with Alex

    Michael_M, May 2024
Alex was our group's guide and was exceptional. The trek is tiring but very doable. Alex was completely accommodating to anyone's questions, concerns, and personal pace. It was very well organized, and I enjoyed the local feel quite a lot. The first meals are a bit skimpy, though I considered this a possible benefit to having a settled stomach for the long treks. The final lunch was a buffet with many options - mostly local - and was immensely satisfying. I felt the buffet to be an event of the tour itself. The vans were comfortable, and the guides and locals both very entertaining and interesting. The hostel for the 1 night stay is beautiful, and again I thought was very well organized. A wonderful tour.

    Amazing hike - highly recommended.

    Lauren_S, May 2024
This was one of the most physically challenging climbs I have done but well worth it. Views were breathtaking. The following day the hotsprings were amazing along with the stops at the volcano and seeing the wild alpacas. I would absolutely recommend this trip, however, you want to be in decent shape to do it.

Be in good shape if you're signing up

    Gary_W, May 2024
This hike is no joke. Im shocked to see that it's labeled as moderate but almost half of our group needed to take a donkey up on day two. The day overall is long, there are stops to see the canyon before hand, like 3 times. It was very hot the day going down on day one. It's a 1000m descend so it's hard on your knees and toes. Day two is all uphill, 1000m incline. I don't love hiking so this was miserable for me but other hikers thought it was challenging and fun. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was great. The last day buffet (not included) was the best

    Wonderful Experience

    Mary_L, Apr 2024
The tour was wonderful! Our guide Alex was kind, informed, organized, and supportive! It is a challenging hike, with the first day being almost entirely downhill and the second day being entirely uphill. However, the views make it worth it! Made friends and great memories! The hot springs after the hike on the second day are a treat.

Amazing tour of the Colca Canyon!

    Aisling_T, Feb 2024
Amazing tour of the Colca Canyon! Our guide, Cesar, was really friendly, motivating, and informative about the area - he was awesome! The accommodation in Sangalle was nice and comfortable, and the pool was much needed after the hiking on day 1. The hike up the canyon on day 2 is tough but so rewarding. The tour company has a great social responsibility policy, with the meals throughout the tour prepared by local families in order to give back to the community.

Great 2 day hike in the Colca Canyon

    Jack_F, Jan 2024
Great 2 day tour of the Colca Canyon. Carlos was a fantastic guide, he looked after the group well and was very informative and knowledgeable about the area. It was also great to learn about the local plants and their medicinal purposes. Accomodation was lovely and set in beautiful surroundings and the food throughout the tour was nice and good sized portions. Excellent value for money.

    Colca Canyon 2 day/1 night

    Dayna_O, Jan 2024
Amazing experience! We were very happy with everything - our guide Eric was fabulous, the food was good and plentiful, the accommodation was comfortable and had a great pool. The trek itself had fantastic views, it was tough at times but so worth it! The last hour of the second day is definitely a grind, but take it slow and it's doable. Would definitely recommend this tour!

    Challenging but rewarding

    Nicole_E, Jan 2024
So beautiful! The hike was very challenging, but I took it slow and was able to get up and down the canyon okay. My guide's name was Rafa, and I liked him a lot; he was very knowledgable about different plants and the history of the canyon and Perú. Not for the faint of heart, but if you like a challenge I'd recommend it!
