My husband and I had a great time on this tour with Alonso! We loved the visit to the mercado and the introduction to many (delicious) Peruvian fruits we had never tried. We also loved the restaurants, and the chance to try a traditional preparation of guinea pig. Alonso also took the time to find a vendor selling Arequipa flags, something my husband had been unable to find. We learned a lot from Alonso about recent Peruvian history and got great recommendations for the rest of our stay. We both highly recommend this tour!

The worst tour ever. The guide, Alonso, was racist, rude, uncommunicative and unprofessional. From the meeting point we had to walk half an hour to a market. He srode ahead the whole time, not talking to us. When we arrived at the market I complained about thwctour so far and he threw a tantrum and cancelled the tour. Neither the local company nor Viator was willing to give a refund. A complete waste of money. I have never used Viator since.

Turned up on time like everyone else, only to be told the tour was cancelled - this was 5 minutes after the tour should have started and only after I messaged them on Viator. It seems like they are accepting bookings to hold your money, then cancelling last minute. Dont book the tour and waste your afternoon. However, there is a great restaurant next door to the start point called zigzag where you can do your own mini tasting if you insist on booking this.

Our tour was cancelled due to a “personal inconvenience” of the guide that morning. Tough to know if a personal inconvenience was a family emergency (which is completely understandable) or if he just woke up and didn’t feel like it. However, the frustrating part is that we were not informed that the tour wasn’t happening. We waited a half hour and had to figure out how to contact the host. We should have been told in advance so we could have planned our day accordingly as the decision was apparently made that morning.

Such a great way to learn about a city, so much more fun than a regular walking tour. You get to learn all About the city as well as so many different types of foods you never would have tried without doing a food tour. Trying different fruits at a local market was so good. Then visiting local authentic restaurants to try the most delicious foods was such a highlight. Doing all this with a really friendly guide makes this such a great experience.

I waited for 30 minutes at the plaza entrance from 1 to 1:30 and there was a no show from the guide. I returned to my accommodations where I had wifi and tried to reach the tour operator by the number provided and Viator with no luck. I saw they had processed a refund at 1:15, but I wasted a total of an hour my afternoon getting to the spot and then waiting. I was on time (said 1pm meeting at plaza) It would have been great to have notice of cancellation so I could have reorganized my afternoon.

It was a tour tour in every sense. Alonso was a formidable guide with a great knowledge of history, architecture and the Peruvian culture. The food was well selected and very tasty. We were very happy to go with this tour overall other tours in Arequipa and will remember it as one of if not the greatest sightseeing tour we experienced in Peru. Thank you.
