Unfortunately, this tour was a major disappointment. The scenery at the condor viewpoint was incredible, but nearly every other aspect of the experience fell far below what was advertised.
1. Lack of Communication & Poor Tour Management
Communication before and during the tour was extremely poor. The company specifically instructed us to remain in our hotel lobby for pickup, yet after our scheduled pickup time passed, I messaged them through the app. They didn't respond for over 20 minutes, only to ask why we weren't waiting in the main square instead. Their own instructions directly contradicted what actually happened.
Once we found the one of the many tour buses in the main square, the driver spoke no English and the tour guide wasn't even on the bus yet. We then made multiple personal stops while the guide picked up his own snacks and drinks before the tour even really began.
Although this was advertised as a bilingual (Spanish and English) guided tour, the guide spoke almost exclusively in Spanish and rarely addressed the English-speaking guests. Even worse, there was very little actual guiding. At nearly every stop, the guide disappeared with the van instead of staying with the group to explain the sites or answer questions.
The guide also insisted on using a broken speaker system inside the van. Multiple passengers asked him to stop because it made him impossible to understand, but he continued using it anyway.
Organization throughout the day was poor. At more than one stop, the guide attempted to leave without everyone, and passengers had to point out that people were still missing before we went back to pick them up.
Finally, the tour advertised that pickup and drop-off would be at the same location. Instead, everyone was dropped several blocks from the main plaza at the bottom of a steep hill. While this wasn't a major issue for us, it was clearly difficult for several older members of the group.
2. Transportation
The transportation was far from comfortable despite being advertised as such.
Anyone over about 5'7" should be aware that legroom is extremely limited. My husband and I both finished the day with bruised knees, shins and ankles from being pressed against the seats in front of us.
The van did have air conditioning, but despite repeated requests from most of the group, the guide refused to turn it on even though the vehicle became very hot throughout the day.
3. The Stops & Attractions
The highlight of the trip was definitely the condor viewpoint. The valley was beautiful, and we were fortunate enough to see several condors.
Unfortunately, nearly every other stop felt like a tourist trap designed to encourage shopping rather than sightseeing.
The hot springs were especially disappointing. They looked nothing like the photos used to advertise the tour. The water was an unappealing algae-green color, and we chose not to go in. Several people who did try them returned after less than 10 minutes commenting on how dirty and unpleasant they were.
Because so much time was spent at shopping stops, the tour completely skipped the wetlands and reserve as sightseeing destinations. We only stopped there briefly to use the restroom before moving on.
4. The Food
Breakfast and lunch were served at the same restaurant.
The dining area had no heating or air conditioning, with the doors left open throughout the meals. During breakfast, the temperature was around 35°F (2°C), so be prepared with warm clothing if you're traveling during colder months.
Breakfast was very basic: a bread roll, a small slice of avocado, cold eggs, and hot water for tea or instant coffee.
Lunch was considerably better, offering a decent variety of food. However, beverages were not included and had to be purchased separately.
Overall
The condor viewpoint was the only part of the day that met our expectations. Unfortunately, poor communication, disorganization, uncomfortable transportation, misleading descriptions, and multiple unnecessary shopping stops made this one of the most disappointing tours we've taken. I would recommend looking for a different company if you want to experience the Colca Canyon area.
Trip tip:
Bring some toilet paper, as most places ran out.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations.
On the day of your tour, we experienced an unexpected situation: the guide originally assigned to your group had a last-minute personal emergency, and we had to replace them to avoid canceling the excursion. We understand that this may have affected some aspects of the organization and communication, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We were surprised by some of your comments, as the guide who led the tour is experienced and speaks English well. Additionally, the vehicle used for your tour was a recently acquired Mercedes Sprinter, added to our fleet to provide a more comfortable experience for our guests. Nevertheless, we take all feedback seriously, as every guest's perspective helps us identify opportunities to improve.
Regarding breakfast, we provide a continental breakfast that includes bread, eggs, avocado, and hot beverages. Lunch is served as a buffet, as described in our tour information.
As for the hot springs and some of the attractions visited during the tour, their condition depends on external factors beyond our control, such as maintenance by the local operators and natural conditions. However, we understand your disappointment and will review our promotional materials to ensure they accurately reflect the experience.
We sincerely appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving our service. We regret that your experience did not reflect the standard we strive to provide, and we wish you all the best on your future travels.

The Colca Canyon day trip delivers on its main promise — and those highlights are genuinely spectacular. Watching Andean condors soar above one of the world's deepest canyons at Cruz del Cóndor is a moment that stays with you. The views of the ancient pre-Inca agricultural terraces were equally impressive, and the panoramic lunch stop with a volcano backdrop was a lovely surprise — a clean, well-run restaurant that felt like a real highlight of the day.
Our guide Erik was knowledgeable and kept the day moving well across a packed itinerary. The early 3am start is worth it — you arrive at the right time.
A few honest notes for future travelers: the day does feel slightly overloaded with stops, and at times it edges toward a sales-tour atmosphere. The Aguas Termales hot springs were a disappointment — overcrowded and not particularly inviting, so we skipped going in. The breakfast in Chivay was very basic. Less might genuinely be more here — trimming a couple of stops in favor of more time at the canyon itself would make this a five-star experience.
Overall, a worthwhile and memorable day — just go in with realistic expectations and focus on the condors and the canyon. Those alone make the early alarm worth setting.

Our experience was average. The activities itself such as seeing the condor, hot springs and the canyon view was lovely however, you could easily find other tour companies that would do the same. What we didn’t enjoy was the poor communication from their end. I had to email them about our pick up location as there was no reminder or contact beforehand, nor were we informed about how cold it would be. Albeit this is partly our responsibility however, we’ve had this with other tours we’ve been on in Peru. Also, they do not drop you off at your hotel and you could purchase this activity in person as opposed to online. Lastly, the van was really cramped and there’s barely any room to put your bags etc. Don’t get me wrong, the landscape views were unmatched and something you need to see

Very good tour, I liked that we weren’t rushed from points of interest, ample of time to take pictures and walk around and admire the beautiful scenery. Comfortable vehicle, in our case large van.

Raul the guide and Juan the driver made the trip great. Only saw 1 Condor fly (it was beginning of nesting season) so was grateful we saw one. Great value for the cost. Long day starting at 0245 but worth it. Be prepared to get dropped off near the Plaza and walk back to your hotel after a long day. Mine was about 8 blocks uphill.

Hello! 🌞
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are so happy to know that Raúl and Juan made your trip so enjoyable. We will pass on your condor congratulations.
We regret that we only saw one condor during our visit; indeed, during nesting season, sightings may be less frequent, but we are glad that you were able to see at least one in flight.
We also appreciate your comment about the end of the tour; we will take note to continue improving the comfort of our travelers after such a busy day.
Thank you again for choosing us and for rating the experience. We hope to welcome you back soon to continue discovering the beauty of the Colca Canyon together. 🏞️

It's a long day and I was disappointed that we spent less than an hour at the Condor lookout; especially when the entrance fee was $70s.
The 1 hr at the Hot Springs was a waste of time for most people on the tour. And shopping in Maca and all the viewpoints would have been better spent with the condors.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Hello! 🌞
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. We are very sorry that your time at the Mirador del Cóndor felt too short; we understand how special it is to observe the flight of the Andean condor.
Our full-day itinerary seeks to maximize time by visiting different locations: viewpoints, towns, and hot springs so that travelers can enjoy the cultural, scenic, and relaxing aspects of the Colca Valley.
However, we greatly appreciate your feedback; it helps us review and improve our itineraries.
We hope you still have fond memories of the Colca Canyon and that we have the opportunity to welcome you back for an even better experience. 💛

Beautiful places and strong emotions watching the Condors soar.
Points of concern:
Vehicle unsuitable for people over 190 cm
it was not possible to fit the legs in the space between the seats
the only possible place: the last row, seat between the two rows,
The excursion included pickup and drop-off
at the hotel, the pickup was fine,
the drop-off ended on a street near the center
but more than a kilometer away from the hotel
and when I pointed out that the drop-off at the hotel was included,
the guide firmly responded "NO",
so there was nothing left to do but to head to the hotel on foot with backpacks, not knowing the way, arriving at least 15 minutes later.
in conclusion:
the places definitely deserve 5 stars for beauty and emotions,
the tour deserves 0 stars for the means of transport and behavior:
so 2 stars are already a high rating.

Gentile viaggiatore,
Cordiali saluti,
