I was unable to find the hop on and hop off during the two days we were in Rome. The stop was not near our hotel and the day we left the colosseum we did not see it arrive while waiting 45 minutes. Later we found out they don't stop at the collesium! It was a waste of money! We never used it.
For the most part this is a good way to get around the area to see the sites. Problem is timing between buses, the wait is so long waste to much of day waiting around for the bus, in heat and no shade. Due to traffic, to few buses, whatever the excuse lessens the experience. To few stops so miss a lot of sites for those with walking impairments and can't walk a great distance between all the sites at a single stop due to distance between the site stops. Getting harder each trip to utilize the hop-on-off bus activity.
The drop off for the coliseum was very far from the building, we ended up walking over a mile to see it and get back to the stop. This defeated the purpose of the drop off bus. We ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel. We could have walked to the coliseum from our hotel easier. The sights we did drive by were very nice and the information informative although the vocal was not perfectly linked to the location so some of the sights were missed.
A fabulous way to get around the city and view the main attractions.

We bought in advance whilst still in the uk. Rome is undergoing many exciting new building and renovation projects but this means that the audio commentary was out of date and will be for years! Volume hard to control. Musical interludes dreadful and unnecessary. Headphone cable not long enough for aisle seat. But the main thing is that Rome is best seen on foot, so on a bus you’re lucky if you see the back of a building. The best view will be on foot from the other side! Bus staff were lovely though.
Good general overview of city but no depth site seeing. Highlight was approaching collesium and Victory of Emmanuel monument. Good price if you only choose 1 loop. Good information via tour but headphones and system scratchy.
We've done Hop On tours in many cities. THIS WAS THE WORST ever. Got tickets from Viator. Wanted to look up where to start tour. Two maps on City Signtseeing's on map don't match (pdf vs interactive). Made our way to stop shown on their interactive map. Waited 35 minutes. Stood very visibly and half-empty bus thundered right past us. Then were told we would have to make our way half way across Rome to start tour (about 1 hour walk or 40 Euro taxi fare). Pathetic! The whole idea of a Hop on bus is that you do NOT HAVE TO WALK. We just went home and now booking with a different provider. Avoid this provider at all cost.

This trip advised could get on at any point but it didn't stop anywhere. Could only get on at roma termini. Nice seeing everything lit up. Only lasted 1 hrs not 1.5 hrs.

After getting off the B line we had to wait in the blazing sun, no shade if you wanted to keep your place in line. Too hot. We decided to skip it

It was difficult to find the first stop to get on. The tickets were easy to book on line. The bus was very hot and the speakers didn’t always work.
Unable to find any of the stops. Looks like maybe 3 stop in the entire city of Rome if you can find them.

Collosuem pickup point is quite a distance from the Colloseum. In this heat it was just too far to walk...disappointing

Can be fairly hot at times on the bus. You should take a water bottle with you as refilling options are plentiful. Not always clear if a stop is changed or where the stops are exactly.
There is no stopping or even passing for photos. Customer service e.g explaining commentary process is non existent.
The actual drive around the city however is very pleasant

There was not enough buses to support the amount of people on the routes. We had to wait 30 minutes for a bus. Other companies had multiple buses available for their passengers and averaging about 5 minutes.
The recording doesn't match up with what you're actually seeing. The driver needs to drive more slowly.
Was easy and convenient. We did have another double decker bus rear end us which left a dampner on the experience

If you sit on the left side of the bus you won’t see anything. Also, driver pulled cover to halfway on top so those in the back did not have hardly any view.

We always enjoy a city bus tour.
Unlike many of these bus tours, the bus isn't able to get close to many of the sites, so be aware that you will need to be able to walk to get to things.

The red top bus is amazing for getting to know Rome - service was frequent and the staff were very helpful.

Be prepare to experience a fast driving and don’t count to make the most beautiful pictures because the bus is moving fast
