Meet a guide at a central location near the Vatican at the pre-arranged time, then skip the line to get into the Vatican Museums to see the highlights of the vast collection. Exploring the museums with a small group, you are able to maneuver the crowded galleries at a comfortable pace, with plenty of time to ask questions. Or, upgrade to a private tour for a more personalized experience.
Pass through a series of gardens and terraces, where you find early Renaissance architecture and an exquisite modern art piece, then see the collection of Roman and Greek artifacts in the Octagonal Courtyard.
Visit the Muses Room, the Round Room, and the Greek Cross Room, then take in the maps and tapestries in the galleries on your way to the Julius II apartments and the Raphael Rooms, part of the papal apartments.
Enter the Sistine Chapel through a tiny door, with time to take in the brilliant frescoes on the ceiling and walls. From the Sistine Chapel, continue to St. Peter’s Basilica through an interior passageway—this allows you to skip the exterior line—and finish the tour in the enormous Catholic shrine, which contains masterpieces of design, sculpture, and artwork.

- *St. Peter’s Basilica is an active church and can be closed unexpectedly for liturgical ceremonies. If closed, your guide will provide a revised itinerary including more of the Vatican Museums. No compensation is granted in these circumstances.
- *Saint Peter’s Basilica is closed on most Wednesdays mornings due to the weekly Papal Audience. If you book this tour for a Wednesday the time inside the Vatican Museums will be extended.
- Places of worship have strict dress code requirements for entry. All participants are required to have shoulders and knees covered (no tank tops or short dresses) to enter.
- There is no photography allowed inside the Sistine Chapel.
- Please be aware that the Sistine Chapel is a Holy Place and talking during your visit inside is strictly forbidden, therefore your guide will give you an explanation of the Sistine Chapel beforehand during your tour, in order to give you a comprehensive explanation before entering the chapel.
- Guests with wheelchair accessibility needs will find difficulty with this small group tour. In order to ensure a barrier-free tour with alternative routes, please book the private version of this tour.

Our tour guide was extremely informative and knowledgeable on all things around the Vatican. We did a small group tour so it felt more private and we were able to do and see more things up close!
This is such a well-run tour, so easy to do the meet up and a very professional tour with a real can-do approach. Book well in advance to ensure you get to do it when you want to and allow time to find the meeting location and be ready to really enjoy the experience!

The crowds are a force to deal with, know your meeting point ahead of time, and this was a 3hr. endurance test. If prepared very rewarding. Our guide was pleasant and just a master of facts, Vita was a student of history and a delight.
Ilaria, our guide was very knowledgeable and personable! She walked us through the Vatican and Sistine Chapel with ease among the crowds!
Definitely need to have the radios w earphones throughout the tour. The guides voice was not loud enough to hear the information. We did have the radios in the Basilica. It was so much better.

For the Vatican Museums, the audio equipment is managed by the Vatican, and we are required to use the headsets provided by the venue. Based on ongoing guest feedback about their quality, we have chosen not to use them throughout the Museums for our small groups, as being close together allows guests to hear the guide more naturally.

This tour is 3 hours to see something that could take weeks. Our guide did an excellent job of sharing information on key areas of the Vatican. There were 6 of us on the tour and he made sure we all were taken care of.
Absolutely great. The tour guide was exceptional. It was like having a fun history class only you are walking in the history. I learned a great deal.
It was well worth the money to have an expert walk us through the Vatican complex. Had I attempted on my own to visit there I would have missed out on so much information. Alessandro was very engaging and knowledgeable about the Vatican and the art work it contains.
We had a wonderful day! Raffy from Liv Tours was our guide. She was wonderful in every way! We were running late! Beware, it is a FULL 2 hour $200 taxi ride from the port in Civitaveccia, so be prepared for this! There were no taxis waiting at 7am, so we were fortunate to ride with 3 Australians who had lined up a car to pick them up. They had paid $238 for the van. We texted Viator and heard back from Liv Tours. They kept in touch with me every bit of the way until we arrived. We had a personal tour for 2 at 9am. We arrived about 9:15 and Raffy assured us she would make it all work. You only have 30 minutes to get inside the Vatican, so that indeed worked out. Raffy was full of information about everything we saw, showed us some short cuts around the big crowds, and got us where we needed to be. She had a wonderful book (which we later bought) that provided great pictures to illustrate what we would see inside. It was helpful to see it in the book before we saw it in person. Every room in the museums are grand! The Sistine Chapel is magnificent. We ended up needing food and drink due to the heat and close conditions. Raffy brought us to the cafeteria. This used valuable time but was necessary. She explained how we could see so much more, even after she had to leave us. She left after 3 hours, but had prepared us for what to see and how to do it to maximize our time. We climbed to the top of the dome. If you are up to it, I think you will love it. It is by far the best view of St Peter's Square. The lines and walk up and down took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Then we went into St Peter's Basilica, like Raffy told us how to do. She directed us to the Pieta, which you don't want to miss. The church is absolutely grand. I was shocked to see that we had spent nearly 8 hours here! Raffy even told us where to eat afterwards and to use Uber for the best cab rates back to the ship. She was full of helpful hints and knowledge. We strongly recommend Raffy, the Sistine Chapel, St Peter's Basilica, St Peter's square, and the dome climb.
We had a wonderful Vatican tour today with Giuseppe, and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and engaging, and he shared the history and stories of the Vatican in such an interesting and memorable way. His passion for Rome, art, and history truly came through throughout the tour.

Tickets were grest. But the person who guided out the tickets was rude and totally unhelpful shoved tickets on our gandy snd wzvex us on. So bad mannered.
We were very lucky in our guide Francesca who was so friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about all things Vatican. Every question was answered, the small group was perfect for us and I fully recommend the tour and if you get Francesca then you are in for a brilliant tour !!
Everything about this tour was outstanding. A tour guide (Claudia)) was over the top good. The meeting place was easy to find and the tour was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour and Claudia to anyone who wants to see and learn about the Vatican.

Our private tour was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and really took time to get us all of the details we needed about the history of the Vatican. It was a little loud in certain places, so I may have missed her name, I believe Galia. She was really awesome!!!
