5 star tour with Marco. He was well prepared (knew all the kids names beforehand!). Keep the kids interested and engaged with his stories, anecdotes (and sound effects!)…great time by all - the kids (ages 10-17) ranked this the best tour of their trip.

This was a very well organised tour and pitched just at the right level for families with kids.
Romans are an exciting subject, but can also be quite a dark one. Rosella pitched it just right. Enough information to keep the kids engaged without straying to the dark side. She actively encouraged the kids to participate and kept their attention throughout.

Marco was phenomenal. My 7 and 8 year old loved it despite the extreme heat in June, as did the grandparents and parents with us. He really brought the Colisseum to life.

Seriously so good! We had kids ranging from 6-17 and the guide did so well explaining all of the history so that everyone could understand and have fun! One of the best tours we have done.

Such a great tour for kids! Our guide, Sara, is an archaeologist and had a wealth of information to share while keeping it interesting and exciting for our kids (ages 7, 12, and 14). It was raining during our tour, but she did a fabulous job of keeping us as dry as possible while still seeing as much as possible. Highly recommend!

A nice tour with enough information for the adults and also games and activities for the kids mixed in.

Roberta was great. Easy access. Great tour for kids. Everybody had fun and learned a lot............

Visiting the Colosseum with Alessandra was one of the highlights of our time in Rome. She was absolutely amazing with my kids (all under 12). From the very start, she kept them engaged with fun games, interactive storytelling, and creative ways to visualize what life in the arena and the Forum was like. She had pictures and props that made the history come alive, and she encouraged the kids to be active participants in the conversation rather than just listeners.
It was a decent amount of walking, but Alessandra made it easy and enjoyable for the whole family. The kids were entertained the entire time, something I didn’t think possible after doing so many other tours. Out of all the guides we had in Rome, Alessandra was hands down the best. She struck the perfect balance of fun and learning, making the Colosseum experience unforgettable for all of us.
Highly recommended for families with children, you won’t regret it!

Roberta was an energetic informative and fun guide who made sure to keep us all interested and well shaded in the August heat. She pitted the parents against the kids in a quiz battle throughout the tour and by the end, well, the rightful group won the victory.
All of us won on this tour. Not too long, and well done even for those who might not have started out very interested in all these old stones and stories about history.
Great way to get kids interested in history without suffering through loooooong lines. Our tour group lines were very short compared to going it alone.

The family had a truly wonderful experience touring the Colosseum and Roman Forum with Julia. Julia was an exceptional guide, seamlessly engaging the children while also keeping the adults captivated by the history she shared. It was a very hot day, but Julia proactively managed the conditions, ensuring shady spots, ample water, and necessary rest breaks. Her knowledge of the ancient sites was encyclopedic, and she was brilliant at maneuvering through the busy crowds. This tour is highly recommended!

It was enjoyable and our guide brought everything to life for the children - games, stories about the venues and more.

Claudia was an excellent guide and made for a great tour. Mixed historical context for the adults and entertainment for the kids. Note, I did have issues with Viator calendar not being updated like others. Thought I had booked a private tour with arena floor so while I did receive a partial refund, it was disappointing to not have the floor component.

History lesson with questions to kids and adults rather than interesting story telling. Very slow which wasn’t ideal in 35* heat. Kids were hot, bored and not interested. Such an amazing place. Wasn’t for us
Akiko_S, Jul 2025
Great tour for the usually bored/tired young kid. Our guide was so sweet, informative, and patient. We had a great time! Would highly recommend for families.

Despite an oppressively hot Rome morning the tour was great. Our guide Roberta was so engaging and informative during the tour. Our shy 9 year old daughter was happily participating in the quizzes and games almost immediately. She really did a wonderful job making all the kids in our group feel included and engaged. Roberta even came to the rescue with a water spray bottle when I found myself a little overheated and light headed.
Ottimo lavoro Roberta!! Grazie per il fantastico tour!

Donato was our tour guide and he was amazing in keeping the kids engaged!! Despite the heat and crowded space, we all had a wonderful time listening to the history and participating some quizzes Donato prepared. Highly recommend to family with children!!

Wonderful experience. Sara was so kind and knew so much about the history of Roma. We went with our kiddos who are 9 and 11- they were very intrigued, never bored and learned so much. Highly recommend!
Kristen_D, Jun 2025
Roberts was excellent at keeping our kids engaged! They learned a lot and had fun answering her trivia questions.
Sylvia_D, Jun 2025
Juliana was super friendly and kept the kids engaged throughout the tour in the hot heat of Rome. she was engaging and explained the Colosseum in a way that was family friendly. The tour was with a small group and manageable. this is a fantastic way to learn about the Colosseum if you have children., Otherwise it would be very intimidating and overwhelming.
Andrew_l, Jun 2025
Awesome experience and the guide could not have made our visit more enjoyable! She was able to keep the attention of my 10 year old on a hot afternoon. Thanks
Rachel_B, Jun 2025
Wow!!! Rosella knew her information and the kids were engaged for over 2 hours. She brought history to life!
Crystal_S, Jun 2025
Very engaging and relavant for the age range. Kids learned alot but in a fun and insightful way. Very remarkable!!! Highly recommend!!!!

Our family of 5 first visit to the Colosseo & Roman Forum and it was amazing experience made even better by our personal tour guide Maria. She was easygoing and always made sure we were going at comfortable pace for us. We never felt rushed and she did a great job keeping us interested and also she did her best to keep my daughter (7) engaged and involved. Unfortunately, my daughter wasn’t feeling well or maybe jet lagged or maybe she is 7 and doesn’t understand and appreciate what it is she is getting to see. Which is fine. I’m pretty confident it’s the latter. LOL. Whatever the case Maria checked on her frequently. We all learned a lot from this experience am 100% satisfied with the tour. I highly recommend this tour for families with small children or if just want a more personable experience by not having to follow a big tour group.
Paula_C, Jun 2025
We had the sweetest guide, she kept the kids entertained, played games with them, walked at their pace. Best experience we have had with the kids.
Carrie_R, Jun 2025
It is worth it to book a small group tour. You get a deeper understanding of the history and can go at your own pace.
Katie_M, May 2025
The tour and guide was very good. Roberta made it very interesting and enjoyable for the children. They really enjoyed it, especially the forum.
I was very disappointed with the organisation of the tour. I booked online but only after receiving confirmation did they say the tour I had booked was full. This was annoying, especially when planning other things around it. It was also a chaotic meeting point and our tour only started about 30mins after scheduled time. The tour was a group of people who had booked with different operators. Overall, I would recommend a tour but this would not be my recommended operator.

Donato was our guide and he was brilliant! We were a small group of three families, with three boys of varying ages. He engaged them all, played games, asked them to find things and guess their meaning. They were completely engaged for the whole tour and loved it all. He found the best spots for us to stop, had lots of accompanying books to show the children how it would have been and took time to answer their questions, as well as ours. A really great experience!
Danyel_J, May 2025
We had the absolute best time with Francesco. He was amazing with our kids and family. He kept them all intrigued with his knowledge the entire time. They spent the day chatting about all the facts they learned, and what a great time they had. We highly recommend this tour to all families! Well worth it.
Lauren_S, May 2025
Martina was incredible! English speaking with archaeological background. Has 2 kids of her own so was very good at capturing the heart of our 4 year old daughter.
Hillary_M, Apr 2025
This tour was a highlight of our entire trip to Rome! Our guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the Colosseum and Roman history, but also went above and beyond to make the experience engaging for my 7-year-old son.
From the moment we met, she made Jack feel included—asking him questions, telling vivid stories that captured his imagination, and even pointing out little details just for him that made the history come alive. He was completely captivated the entire time (which says a lot for a 7-year-old on a walking tour!).
She had the perfect balance of depth for the adults and magic for the kids. It felt personal, thoughtful, and truly special. We both walked away inspired and still haven’t stopped talking about it. Highly, highly recommend—especially for families traveling with curious kids.
