More than just a clear recommendation

Jared offered us one of the best tours we have ever experienced on a trip - and we travel a lot. He is not only very well-read, but also has, which we appreciate, a very reflective and nuanced view of history as well as current political developments and systems. We learned much more on this tour than just the essentials about George Washington and Mount Vernon. The estate itself is definitely worth a visit - especially since it is beautifully situated on the Potomac and the trip there and back also offers beautiful views. In addition, they really make a great effort on-site to bring history to life. The fact that we were driven back to our hotel in the evening was just the icing on the cake of a very successful excursion.

Great way to explore!

As a first time visitor, the tour was a nice way to get a taste of the 3 Smithsonians. We went to the museums of air and space, natural history and American history, in that order. I would highly recommend booking earlier in the day. The tour lasts about 3 hours with bathroom breaks and a little bit of self exploration. I booked a 2 pm slot and the tour concluded at 5 pm, leaving 30 minutes to explore a favorite (museums close at 5:30 pm). I would’ve liked to go back to the air and space museum but my feet felt otherwise. The tour was a last minute addition to my trip so I didn’t have many options. If you start the tour earlier, you might have enough time to circle back to a previously visited museum and do a more in-depth tour. Our guide was Skye and she was wonderful! Her energy and enthusiasm kept the group engaged. She gave us plenty of reminders regarding where we would enter, when and where we’d reconvene, directions during street crossings or turns, and security checkpoints. She was attentive to our questions and sprinkle fun bits of trivial throughout the tour. The tour comprised of selected exhibits and more on temporary ones so if you visit next time, you could visit the permanent displays. Be prepared to walk 2+ miles. The headquarters where we started offered cold bottled water and they did point out water fountains along the way which were much appreciated and needed.

Tiring but absolutely worth it!

Great tour! Our guide Ford was extremely knowledgeable and made the time very enjoyable. We’ve been to DC several times but learned some new info from the tour. Lots of walking, some stairs but elevators are available, TSA security for the Supreme Court, so don’t bring bottled water. Several restroom opportunities so don’t sweat bathroom breaks.

Comprehensive highlight tour

True highlights of all major downtown landmarks. If that is your desire, this is an excellent option. George is indeed as delightful as his stellar reviews. He does have an accent that could be challenging for some. I agreed with a UK passenger that it didn't take long to adjust to, and enjoy it. George went out of his way to drop us at our hotel afterwards.

A great place to see, but still had to go through the ticket line.

Wow, what an amazing place to see. We still had to go through the ticket line, happy it wasnt very long. I thought buying the tour in advance kept us out of the ticket line, but it did not. Once inside we had to go to the Information booth to receive our map and details about the mansion tour. Even with all that, we all ( grandparents, adult children and young adult grandsons) loved it.

Fun evening

Evening bike ride was so much fun to get up close to the monuments. Even though we were blocked by activities happening on the mall, the leader made sure everyone was safe and together. We even had an extra bonus of some flyovers! Just taking a regular bike was fine and there was no need for an e-bike unless that is your thing. There was plenty of time at each of the stops and I never felt rushed.

Excellent way to spend a few hours!!

This tour was very informative and gave key highlights to the area without needing to spend hours and hours reading plaques in different buildings on our own. It was a comfortable pace for all individuals in the group. Our guide, Debra, was not only knowledgeable about the area and different buildings but attentive to the people she led. We especially appreciated the tickets to the Senate and the House galleries and felt this was the perfect ending to a great day.

Great tour!

We loved it! We had Davey Crockett and he was so realistic! It was more of a history tour than a ghost tour - so definitely family friendly. We have lived in DC our whole lives and learned many new things. It’s also nice to walk around the Capitol grounds at night! A unique experience. Davey is very knowledgeable of the history and it was easy to retain everything he said because of the fun storylines he framed! Definitely recommend this tour and the price is a steal! There are a few more that cost a bit more and I don’t think that’s worth it.
