Good Introduction to the Jewish Ghetto of Venice
Thoroughly covers the old Jewish ghetto: its history, notable people and buildings, the old synagogues, and the relationship of the ghetto to the development and history of Venice.

Great tour!
We loved our private tour with Lucia. She was very informative and managed to keep our teenagers’ attention the entire time. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Tour!
Lucia’s tour of the Jewish ghettos in Venice were the highlight of my trip to Italy. She was extremely knowledgeable and the 2 hours flew by! It was a great mixture of history, stories, and discussion-if you come to Venice, this tour is an absolute must.

Jewish Quarter Gems
This was an excellent presentation of the history of the Jewish Ghetto Quarter. It was also a food tour and the food was quite good and a lot. We did 5 food stops. I was the only client and got excellent one on one about the history and Jewish culture.

A Flavorful Journey!
Our Jewish Ghetto food, wine and gelato tour with Vanessa was an absolute delight, blending rich history with unforgettable flavors. From the kosher bakery’s cookies to the small plate samples and seafood ragu…and a unique Venetian Select spritz, every stop was a treat. Vanessa’s warmth and knowledge made the evening seamless, even when we nearly missed the start. A perfect 5-star experience that you will not walk away from hungry!

Going back in time.
Our guide Vanessa transformed our experience with not only local tastes and smells, but took us back in time and painted a better understanding of how life was experienced by Venecians, but most importantly, how the Jewish community lived. Her love and passion for history is transformed into a colourful painting and creates a mindful reality of the past. I would suggest an empty stomach on arrival, as we consume various dishes right up to the end of the tour. The only mistake made, was doing the tour on the first day, as I now see Venice in a very different way. Venice, you are a true beauty who has stood the test of time.

Very good tour
This was a group tour but there were only 4 of us that evening. Our guide, Vanessa, was Italian, young and bubbly, and had very good English skills. We started with Yum Yum restaurant and the appetizer spread of hummus, falafel, and many other salads was very good. This is a kosher establishment so there was also kosher wine. We wandered through the ghetto and saw the exterior of the two operating synagogues. It would have been nice to see the interior but I did not know if that was not allowed because of security. Some of the other synagogues are in the process of being restored as a museum but unfortunately were not open for viewing yet. The main square held monuments and memorials but by the time we got there it was dark and we had to use our cellphone flashlights to see these sights. It would have better if the guide had a good light or the tour operator had scheduled the tour a little earlier in the day. We then visited Cannaregio. On this portion of the tour we were served wine and snacks at one locale which were ok, very good pasta and wine at another restaurant (you had two choices of pasta), and we ended with yummy gelato at our last stop. I thought that it was an interesting tour and I enjoyed getting out of the hubbub of St. Mark’s square and visiting other parts of Venice. I would recommend this tour and Vanessa as a guide.

Great evening tour
Our guide was wonderful! Gave historical info without feeling overwhelmed. She showed us many hidden gems including a large neighborhood park that was a refreshing break from the hustle of the city.

Lucia was an excellent guide who provided a wealth of historical knowledge. She showed us a completely new perspective of Venice. This was the most interesting part of our trip and that was thanks to Lucia!

Informative
We have traveled and visited many "ghetto's" and this was definitely a learning experience. Our tour guide was fabulous. I would definitely recommend this tour. Just when you think you know all there is too know up and comes a surprise like the Venetian Jewish Ghetto.

The Jewish ghetto is a must for those interested in Jewish culture and history.
With its narrow streets and quiet square, the ghetto is one of Venice’s most pleasant historic walking areas—and a lovely spot to snap photographs.
Jewish ghetto tours are on foot, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
This area is also known for its excellent traditional kosher restaurants, so it’s a good place to stop for lunch or dinner.
