We had soooo much fun! El Yunque is not to be missed. The beauty of the rain forest was indescribable. Definitely pay attention on how to prepare for the trip. Our tour guides were excellent. One recommendation ... if opting out of the water slides and cliff jump, allow cell phones. We missed some great picture opportunities. The kayak excursion was a blast! Would definitely do it again. Our family of 6 are still talking and reliving the experience.

Our entire excursions was canceled 5 mins after they were supposed to pick us up due to vehicle issuses. We did get a full refund but very disappointed.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hola Maggie! Thank you for your feedback, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this caused. We understand how frustrating it is to have plans changed at the last minute, especially during your vacation. Unfortunately, the cancellation was due to an unexpected vehicle issue that arose right at pickup time. While situations like this are rare, safety is always our top priority, and we cannot operate if there is any concern with our transportation. We’re glad we were able to process a full refund promptly, but we sincerely regret that we couldn’t provide the experience you were looking forward to. Thank you for your understanding.

Great all-day activity. Informative, challenging, fun and exhilarating. My family (wife, 17yo and 12 yo daughters) had a blast.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hola Mike! We take pride in providing an outstanding experience to our guests. We're so glad you enjoyed so much. We're overjoyed to receive your compliments and appreciation. Hope to hear back from you when you're back in Puerto Rico!

Great guides but scary ride on the way back!

Alisa_Y, Apr 2026
Cons: They tell you to bring snacks and water but the first stop is a bad fruit smoothie place with drinks made from concentrate. Pros: Guide Amauri and Jami were the great for the size of the group and the very busy and crowded areas like the jumps etc. bio bay: you don’t see much and they don’t give you time to use the one bathroom before leaving. The driver on the way back “Mr Easy” was going 85+mph on the way back wearing sunglasses at night: was frightful but we got back 30 min earlier.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hola Alisa! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that Amauri and Jami took great care of your group, especially in busy areas — they’ll appreciate your kind words. We’d like to clarify that the stop at the fruit stand is simply an optional quick stop along the way, and guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and water as recommended. We appreciate your input on that experience and will take it into consideration. Regarding the Bio Bay portion, conditions such as moonlight, weather, and water activity can affect visibility, and we always try to set expectations around that. We also appreciate your note about the timing and facilities, which we will share with our partner team. We are especially concerned to hear your comments about the driving experience. Guest safety is our top priority, and this is not the standard we expect. We will be addressing this matter internally. Thank you again for your honest feedback — it helps us continue improving.

Misleading Advertising

Brad_B, Mar 2026
Could have been a really cool kyaking trip, but you’re treated like cattle once you’re out there. I paid to see bioluminescence and enjoy the experience, but they rushed us out to the lagoon and before the sun was fully down, they rushed us out and back to the shop. We didn’t get to see hardly any bioluminescence activity. It was frustrating to see other tours staying out there longer and other groups going out in the dark. Their advertising is misleading on how the experience works and what you’ll see.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Hola Brad! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the Bio Bay portion of your experience did not meet your expectations. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon and visibility can vary greatly depending on factors such as moonlight, weather conditions, water movement, and seasonality. Timing on the water is also coordinated by our partner company and local regulations, which can sometimes result in groups entering or exiting at different times. That said, we understand how frustrating it can feel when the experience doesn’t match expectations, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will be sharing your feedback with our partner team to continue improving communication and overall guest experience. Thank you again for your honest review.

All Day Fun

Matthew_R, Mar 2026
It was an awesome experience, well worth it our bus driver Amauri was awesome and so were the guides for the hike and kayaking trip. The kayaking was fun but a lot of our group seemed to be struggling with going in a straight line lol. The hike wasn’t too difficult but I definitely would not call it easy. Expect for every part of you to get soaked and bring extra clothes. I wish that they had given us a little more time to change after the kayaking but otherwise an amazing experience. They have a great snack of fresh fruit after the hike and a nice place for dinner as well.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Hola! We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to leave us this review. We all love what we do. So your constructive feedback gives us all tremendous happiness and encouragement to continue working hard because it tells us that we are doing something right. Our tour is definitely an adventure to never forget, we're so happy you embraced it and enjoyed it to the fullest. Thank you for your kind words.

Fabulous and peaceful day!

Colleen_W, Mar 2026
Fabulous day! The hike was shorter than we thought it would be but we spent a lot of time at the water hole going down a rock slide, jumping off of a high cliff, swinging off the rope swing. Amore and Jean were our houses and they were fabulous!! Fin and informative. You get thoroughly wet, shoes and all, so be prepared. Def requires a level of adventurism. You also travel wet to the kayaking location. There we had an amazing trip through the mangroves and saw the beautiful bioluminescence. The trip was so peaceful. Daniel, Miguel, Analiese, and Francesco were fabulous!! Def worth the experience.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Hola Colleen! Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a fabulous day enjoying the rock slide, cliff jump, and rope swing — it’s definitely an adventure-filled experience. Amauri and Jean will be so happy to know they helped make the day fun and informative. And yes, it’s definitely a “get completely wet” kind of tour! We’re glad you also enjoyed the magical kayaking through the mangroves and the bioluminescence. Thank you for joining us!

Fabulous rain forest and bioluminescent tour

Pamela_Y, Jan 2026
This tour was accurately described as a moderate activity tour. The hike was through tricky trails and the jumping off rocks was super fun. The guides were knowledgeable and ensured people were safe. The kayak portion required 1.5-2 hours of kayaking through fortunately calm water. It was a full moon so the bioluminescent activity was not the best but paddling through mangroves were great. Laurie provided super information about the bay.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Hola Pamela! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed the adventure and found the tour accurately described. It’s great to hear you had fun with the hike, rock jumps, and kayaking through the mangroves. While the full moon can affect bioluminescence, we’re happy the calm waters and scenery still made it a memorable experience. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to the team. We hope to welcome you back again!

Good experience, not exactly what we expected

David_K, Dec 2025
The staff was great, the waterfall part was good, but it was crazy busy even though they said it was a less busy day. They suggested not wearing water shoes to hike up, so we got our regular shoes wet, but it could probably be done in water shoes. The climb to the waterfall was also hard, but that was the only really difficult part. You could even stay at the bottom and not do the hardest part. The bioluminescent bay was probably not worth it; there wasn't much to see since the moon was out and it was winter. They said it's better when it's further from a full moon and when it's warmer, like summer, but I don't know if that part was really worth it. It was a long day, lots of driving (if you get car sick, I'd take some Dramamine), but overall it was fun.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Hola David! Thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful and honest feedback. We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed the waterfall portion and that our staff made a positive impression — that truly means a lot to us. El Yunque is a very popular destination, especially this time of the year, and even on days that are typically considered “less busy,” conditions can change due to weather, park access, and seasonal travel. We appreciate your understanding and will continue working on setting clear expectations around crowd levels. We also value your note about footwear — while we often recommend sturdy shoes with good grip, we understand that water shoes can work well for some guests, and we’ll do a better job clarifying that options depend on personal comfort and preference. You’re absolutely right that the climb to the waterfall is the most challenging section, and we’re glad you highlighted that guests can choose to stay at the lower area if they prefer. Our goal is always to make the experience flexible and enjoyable for different ability levels. Regarding the bioluminescent bay, we appreciate you mentioning the seasonal and moon-related factors. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon and visibility does vary based on conditions like moon phase, cloud cover, and water temperature. While it can be truly magical under the right conditions, we understand that it may not meet everyone’s expectations every time. Thank you again for your balanced review and helpful insights. We’re happy to hear that overall you had fun, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future.

Amazing experience

Harold_B, Dec 2025
Experience was amazing. Rene and Danny were great tour guides even teaching us about rainforest plants. Everything about day was perfect.

Ashley_A, Nov 2025
This is a wonderful combo your. When they say it’s a long day, they are not kidding, so be prepared for that. We loved the combo your and the rainforest is unbelievable! Kayaking was also great

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Hola Ashley! Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so happy to hear you loved the combo tour and enjoyed both the rainforest and kayaking. It is a full, adventure-packed day, and we appreciate you highlighting that for future guests. We’re glad it was unforgettable for you and hope to welcome you back for more Puerto Rico adventures soon! 🌿

Great day in PR

Shawn_S, Nov 2025
A moderate hike, with a couple of difficult scrambles, but the guides were very helpful as far as where to put your feet in certain crevices. They were very encouraging to do the slides and the jumps, it was a lot of fun. The kayaking was fun too, but you need to be comfortable kayaking in the dark, especially under the canopy of mangroves at night. The visibility of the bioluminescence will depend on the cloud cover and a few other factors. The night that we went, we saw them, but they weren’t extremely bright underwater.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Hola Shawn! Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed the adventure and that our guides were able to help you through the trickier sections — they love making guests feel confident and supported. The slides, jumps, and kayaking definitely make for a full day of fun! Bioluminescence can vary with weather and conditions, so we appreciate you mentioning that as well. Thanks again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon! 🌿

Jade_H, Sep 2025
Brilliant day, well planned and lovely tour guides. The rainforest is amazing, the tour guides gave us lots of great info and made the day so fun, sliding down the rock slides and jumping into the water and the rope swing were great. Dinner was at a beautiful marina, the food was delicious and they had great vegan options. The kayaking was good fun, the lagoon is stunning. Sadly the bioluminescent plankton are low in numbers currently so we couldn’t see much of a glow but it was still good fun. Overall it was such a fantastic day out.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Hola Jade! Thank you so much for your detailed review! We’re thrilled you had such a fantastic day enjoying the rainforest, the activities, and the beautiful dinner by the marina. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the guides’ knowledge and the vegan options as well. While the glow of the bioluminescence can vary, we’re glad you still found the kayaking fun and memorable. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon!

Do it, you won’t regret it!

Jahmairi_S, Aug 2025
What an amazing tour! Heavy hiking onto rocks and slippery wet areas, super fun but you need to bring the right shoes like sneakers or hiking boots that can get soaked. We had the time of our lives today 10/10 recommend. Bradley and Amaury were so great!

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hola! Thank you for the awesome review! We're so glad you had a great time and really appreciate the tip about proper footwear—it makes a big difference! Bradley and Amauri will be happy to know they made your experience unforgettable. 🌿 Hope to hear back from you when you're back in Puerto Rico!

El Yunque part was...

George_Z, Jul 2025
El Yunque part was decently strenuous, definitely not a light stroll through the forest. Bio-Bay was a nice kayaking experience, but the bioluminescence was disappointing. Guides for both were great (Amauri + Jean and Daniel + Laurie + other guide), overall was an enjoyable experience and worth doing.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hola George! Thanks for sharing your honest feedback! We're glad you enjoyed both experiences overall and that the guides made it worthwhile. El Yunque can definitely be a bit of a workout, and while the bioluminescence can vary, we're happy you still found the kayaking enjoyable. We appreciate you joining us!

Fantastic Tour!

marc_c, Jul 2025
This was a wonderful experience and I'm glad my husband, kids, and I got to experience it. The rainforest is beautiful and we had a lot of fund in the river. The tour guides were fantastic and the tour was run very well.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hola Marc! Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled your whole family had such a great time exploring the rainforest and enjoying the river. It means a lot to hear the tour was fun and well-run — and that our guides helped make it special for you. We hope to see you all again someday! 🌿💧😊

Jami and Rene were...

Nancy_D, Jul 2025
Jami and Rene were amazing tour guides. This is a rigorous tour but they were so patient and not only did we have a great time, we learned a lot about the rainforest. Be prepared to walk and climb but at the end is an amazing river. You will have to walk back as well.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Hola Nancy! Thank you so much! We're glad you had a great time and enjoyed learning about the rainforest with Jami and Rene—they’ll really appreciate your kind words. It’s definitely an active adventure, but we’re so happy you found it worth it! Hope to see you again for another journey into nature.

Amazing experience I want to do again

Isaiah_S, Jun 2025
I picked this one because my wife wanted to do the bioluminescence tour and a waterfall sounded fun. We had an absolute blast with this. Firstly the hiking through the rainforest was amazing and they really care about your safety. I read a couple of reviews and people were like “they wouldn’t let me do this” but it’s just because you’ll drown if you make a mistake. This isn’t a Disney park ride. You could die and they really just want everyone to remain alive. So they take their safety seriously. Once we got to the pool area, we got to do a waterfall, high jump and rope swing into it. They let us go again but for some reason I was the only one who did and then we had to leave. They took us to a restaurant for a couple hours and then we went to a different team to the bioluminescence bay. Miguel was so knowledgeable and I wish we had kept up so we could learn more about the bay. Recently the bioluminescence has been low so it was more like a couple sparkles but it was still really neat to see. I will say that the way back is a tough and long trek but as long as you keep your cool, and stay on course, you’ll make it. Well worth your time and money and it’s an all day excursion

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Hola Isaiah! Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear you and your wife had an absolute blast—from the rainforest hike to the refreshing water activities and the bioluminescent bay. Safety is always our top priority, and we really appreciate you recognizing that—it means a lot to our team. We’re also glad you enjoyed the all-day adventure and made the most of each moment (we love that you went for the second jump!). Thanks again for joining us—and for the great reminder that this is a true nature experience, not a theme park ride!

Excellent adventure to experience the wild side of PR

Debbie_P, Feb 2025
Amaury and Bradley were very friendly and fun to be around. We were picked up right on time and they were very helpful in assisting me with the trek through El Yunque. I cant swim and Amaury saved my life when I slid down the waterfall by helping me get safely to shore. I will always remember this experience as one of the most challenging and exciting events in my life.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Hola Debbie! We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to leave us this review. We all love what we do. So your feedback gives us all tremendous happiness and encouragement to continue working hard because it tells us that we are doing something right. Amaury is definitely a superhero! We look forward to serving you again.

Five stars - a great experience!

Suz_D, Jan 2025
It was a great day - John and Amauri from Island Journeys were very professional and fun. The pickup timely and easy. They provided clear information and instructions, all the safety gear needed, and refreshments when the hike was complete. Kayaking was equally as fun with Lori, Brian, Francisco and Miguel. Again, clear guidance was given no matter your level of experience. Would highly recommend this 2-in-1 trip. It was a long day, but a great experience. A couple of stops for food/ refreshments between hiking and kayaking was a nice break. Five stars!!!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Hola! Thank you so much for your review! Sounds like you had a great time and that is what we always look to achieve. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and feedback with us. Hope to hear back from you when you visit Puerto Rico again!

Unprofessional tour operator

Srinivas_K, Dec 2024
The tour operator cancelled our reservation at the last minute and neither the tour operator nor viator informed us. Infact viator was still under the impression that the tour was on.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Hola Srinivas! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us, we are very happy to have had the opportunity to connect with you over the phone and go over your experience. As expressed during our conversation, the cancellation of the tour was requested by the primary contact on your booking, because there was a sick person in your party that was no longer able to participate. We honored your request and sold the spaces as they were opened. We also processed the full refund for the reservation and advised you to cancel the reservation with Viator too so the refund of your payment could be processed. Let us know if you have any questions or need further clarification. Regards!

Definitely fun!!

Tulia_R, Dec 2024
An amazing adventure!! Amari and Bradly were the best guides ever. We were picked up at location early and the trip to the hiking trail was really smooth. We stopped at a fruit shop and their smoothies were delicious. On the trail at El Yunque they showed us all the different plants species and we had lots of fun at the falls and the river. We were not so lucky at the bioluminescent lake due to the moonlight and the cold water, but the kayaking trip was wonderful.

Response from Host, Dec 2024

Hola Tulia! Thank you for your review! We're so glad you had an amazing adventure with Amari and Bradly, and enjoyed the hike, smoothies, and kayaking. We're sorry the bioluminescent experience wasn't as expected, but hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable moments in Puerto Rico. We look forward to your next adventure with us!
