Great tour

The tour took about 9 hours and was well organized. We had a group of about 10 people in this tour. After picking up everyone at their hotels in a van, we first stopped to get food and cash, then stopped to get coca tea to help with the altitude before going to the visitor center. After the visitor center we went to the parking lot (~4500m altitude) below the Cotopaxi volcano base camp. The trip by van to the parking lot took about 3 hours, including the 3 stops (around 20 min for each stop). From the parking lot, we walked up a winding path to get to the volcano base camp at an altitude of 4864m. I normally live near sea level and was only in Quito for less than a day, so the altitude was noticeable and had to walk slowly, but was doable in under an hour. I didn't take any additional medication for the altitude, just the coca tea. It was also noticeably colder than Quito, maybe 5-10C in Oct 2026, but jeans and 3 layers of shirts was sufficient to keep warm. It was a little cloudy and there were brief moments where the summit could be seen between clouds, and we got some decent photos during those times. Then we went down a steeper, but more direct path back to the parking lot. It was really sandy and a little tricky to walk without slipping, but it was much faster than going up. Then we got back on the van and stopped at a lagoon for about 15min, then went to Rondador Cotopaxi to eat lunch, which luckily had a vegan option. Then we went back to Quito. During the bus ride to Cotopaxi, our guide explained a lot about the geography and history of the area in both Spanish and English and was very knowledgeable about the area. Overall, it was a great tour and would recommend it to others.

Amazing Tour with Ruben

Our tour with Ruben was AMAZING! From the moment he picked us up, the experience was great. We started our day with a breakfast stop before heading out to explore the historic Old Town of Quito. Ruben was incredibly knowledgeable about Quito’s history and shared fascinating information about each church we had the opportunity to tour. While exploring Old Town, we also got to enjoy a chocolate-tasting experience, which was such a great addition to the tour! Afterward, we headed to the Middle of the World Museum to continue exploring and learning about Ecuador’s history and culture. Ruben made the entire experience enjoyable, informative, and memorable. His knowledge and hospitality truly made a difference, and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. I would HIGHLY recommend booking with Ruben to anyone visiting Quito!

Our tour guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgeable and very respectful of us (we’re in our 70’s). **(Know Before You Go)This last part was important because when we reached the higher altitude, it’s much more challenging for us. Plus, Ricardo gave us a choice of which “middle of the earth” experience we wanted.

We loved our private tour of Mindo. Ximena was very knowledgable about the flora and fauna of the cloud forest. We greatly appreciated her flexibility in taking us to see Catequilla - the ancient indigenous astronomical site located on the true equator. After the cloud forest hike we had a wonderful lunch at a small restaurant that was perched in the cloud forest, trees and birds all around us. We took a brief tour around the town (by then it was pouring) and she showed us the other activities that you can do in mindo. On the drive back to Quito, we learned about the areas and indigenous cultures of Quito. We highly recommend Ximena!

Wonderful tour and our guide Fernando was fantastic. Loved the little stops on the way to Quilatoa Lagoon, which included a quick stop for breakfast. We hiked only part of the way down and then walked along the outer ridge which provided a great opportunity for more viewpoints and photos.

Great way to get to know Quito

It combined hearing about the history of Ecuador and background on Quitos most important buildings and churches along with some food sampling. The chocolate sampling alone was worth the tour. Awesome Tour!!

I had an absolutely amazing experience touring Quito with Pato! Since Pato was born and raised in Quito, he knows the city inside and out, and that really made the experience feel authentic and special. He explained everything in great detail and shared so much about the history, culture, and everyday life of the city. We stopped at a local market where we got to try some unique fruits, then rode the Teleférico up the mountain and did a short hike with incredible views overlooking Quito. The swing in the clouds was awesome, and Pato even doubled as my personal photographer, making sure I had plenty of great pictures to remember the experience. We visited the Basilica, which was amazing, and then walked through the beautiful Old Town before having an awesome lunch in the square. We ended the day at Mitad del Mundo, which was the perfect way to finish the tour. We were lucky enough to arrive when there weren't many people around, so I was able to get some fantastic pictures without the crowds. This was an especially wonderful tour as a solo traveler. Pato made the entire day comfortable, fun, informative, and memorable. He truly went above and beyond to make sure I had an incredible experience. Pato is the absolute best! If you're visiting Quito, I highly recommend booking a tour with him. You won't be disappointed!

Wonderful Quito Tour

My sister and I had such a wonderful day exploring Quito! The tour was very flexible, which we really appreciated, and we got to enjoy such a great mix of sightseeing and local experiences. We visited the beautiful historic churches, the Teleférico, the swing with its amazing views, and the Middle of the World. The food and chocolate tasting were also such a fun addition and made the experience even more special. Our tour guide (Jessy) was honestly amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, warm, and incredibly accommodating from beginning to end. One thing we especially appreciated was how well she handled the fact that the two of us have very different personalities (one of us is quite outgoing and the other is much quieter) and somehow, she made both of us feel completely comfortable. She has such a warm and down-to-earth personality that it never felt like we were spending the day with a stranger; it genuinely felt like we were exploring Quito with family. We also genuinely felt safe and comfortable with her throughout the entire day. That made such a difference, especially when you're exploring a new country. We never felt uncomfortable or out of place, and she was always attentive to what we needed. Whenever we needed a little break, she was very understanding and would give us helpful tips on how to manage the conditions and keep going. She was also great at keeping us on track with the itinerary. There was so much to see, and she somehow managed to make sure we got to experience everything without making us feel rushed. She deserves a special mention for her photography skills! She was always happy to take pictures of us, suggested poses and the best spots, and somehow managed to make us look like we knew what we were doing. She was incredibly patient and enthusiastic about it, and we came away with so many wonderful photos and memories. For my sister, having the opportunity to speak with someone who was fluent in both English and Spanish was a wonderful part of the experience. Although our guide was fluent in English, she was also happy to speak with my sister in Spanish throughout the day and was incredibly patient and encouraging. Since neither of us is a native Spanish speaker or particularly confident speaking Spanish, having someone guide us through the conversations made the experience even more enjoyable. It was such a special opportunity for my sister to practice Spanish with someone who was so kind and supportive. Our driver was also excellent. We felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire day and travelling between all the different locations was smooth and stress-free. Having transportation between all the different locations was also incredibly convenient. We didn't have to worry about figuring out how to get from one place to another, waiting around for transportation, or losing time between stops. Everything flowed smoothly, which gave us more time to enjoy the experience. Overall, this was our first real tour-guide experience in Ecuador, and we honestly could not have asked for a better one. The combination of the beautiful places we visited, the flexibility, the local experiences, and especially the warmth and personality of our guide and driver made it one of the highlights of our time in Ecuador. We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Quito. Thank you for making our day so special and for giving us so many great memories to take home!

One of My Favorite Days in Ecuador! 🇪🇨🐎🏔️

This was such an amazing experience from start to finish! The horseback riding and Cotopaxi hike were definitely some of the highlights of my trip to Ecuador. Alva was wonderful! Very friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and made the experience feel comfortable and enjoyable. She was genuinely involved throughout the tour and made sure I was doing okay, especially during the hike. You could really tell that she cared about making sure I had a great experience, not just checking off the activities on the itinerary. I also really appreciated how involved and attentive Jorge was. Communication was great, everything was well organized, and they were there to make sure everything went smoothly. That level of personal attention really made a difference and made me feel well taken care of throughout the day. The horseback riding was so much fun, and seeing Cotopaxi up close was absolutely breathtaking. It was one of those experiences that I know I’ll remember for a long time. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you want more than just a typical sightseeing experience. The people genuinely care about their guests, and that really shows. A great four day tour

We recently took the 4 day Tour of “Quito to Cuenca 4 or 5-Day Tour with Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Baños and Chimborazo”. We chose the median range hotels. That was our first tour in Ecuador. It was a success. We were fortunate to have a great guide, Luis. He was knowledgeable about a lot of things: history, geography, plants and birds. The schedule was flexible to meet our interests: hiking, photography and local food. He was on time and kept the schedule well. We were not rushed at any time to allow us to enjoy the activities although the drive was long from the second day on. We liked all four areas in the four days. The hotels were pretty good, all were located in convenient places in a city for us to have dinners by ourselves and walked around. We liked the lunch places he chose for us too. It was a memorable trip!

Wow! Amazing Tour of Beautiful Volcanoes!

One of the BEST tours I've ever taken. My daughter and I travel the world visiting Volcanoes and we are so happy we chose this tour guide for Cotopaxi and Quilatoa! Andres and Jimmy were super friendly, accommodating, punctual, and knew the complete history of the area. The sights were spectacular, unforgettable, and easy to access. We left completely satisfied. The overall experience was nothing short of amazing! We started with a horseback ride in the skirts of Cotopaxi. The views and the vast mountains surrounding us made the ride magical. The horses were exceptionally well trained and even my son who was riding for the first time ever, found it easy and enjoyable. On to the hike, there are a few things to consider: 1. Make sure you have acclimatised (a great prep hike is the Teleferiqo one in Quito or the Laguna Cuicocha loop) 2. Make sure you have at least one day rest between any previous hike and this one 3. Keep in mind what season you are in - in the dry season there is an exceptional amount of dust and the wind can be quite overwhelming 4. Bring the appropriate gear - a buff is a must during dry season and I’d go with cheap sunglasses as they may get scratched (one pair of designer ones later, I have reached this conclusion). The hike is challenging. We are a family of four and work out very regularly but the altitude combined with the wind we’re trying even for us. Our guide Pato, who by the way has encyclopaedic knowledge of the region, it’s flora and fauna, was essential to us making it to the top. I was ready to give up but he encouraged me bit by bit and break by break to the top. The hike took us 1.5hrs, it’s 1.5km long. On the way back he gave my daughter his walking poles so she could stabilise. She is a tiny person and the wind was literally blowing her to the ground. Having said all that, the views are gorgeous, and the sense of achievement is strong. At the top, there is a cafe, where you can get a hot drink and the way down is much faster. The lunch afterwards was delicious and felt well earned. We went to feed the animals, which was a highlight for my daughter and felt incredibly special. Pato was excellent through and through and made our experience incredibly memorable. I would recommend 100% but would probably avoid June-August to ensure the wind and dust are kept to a minimum.
