Ivan was a wonderful guide. We liked the flexibility of choosing what activities we did to tailor the trip to our wants. Two of our group were able to ride the cable car both ways while the other two were able to do the hike to the waterfall and ride the cable car back which was very nice. Ivan was informative and easy to understand. And we had the best driver, Angel, who drove expertly on the narrow, bumpy road to the cable car.

The Windo Cloud Forests is widely advertised a one of top attractions in Ecuador. So, we took this private one day tour due to our limited time. But we felt this tour is overrated. We only observed two to three types of birds; only one waterfall for us to go, which was not very impressive; the chocolate factory experience was good; but the butterfly garden is small per our experience with other similar settings; On the other hand, our tour guide was worm and very friendly and took many photos for us. He talked a lot but not always focused on the subjective of the culture, background, and history of the area we toured on. We highly expected the guide to give as much as info he could presented to us for where we were visiting, for which we were a bit disappointed.

Miriam was an excellent tour guide. Very personable; very knowledgeable; great communicator.
This is a long day’s trip, but well worthwhile. Mindo is a fascinating town; and the hike to the waterfalls wasa great way to appreciate the biodiversity of the area. The hike back up to the cable car was a bit of an altitude challenge. Hummingbirds were spectacular, and the stop at the chocolate factory was educational and fun.

The experience was great. Mindo Forrest Cable Car was very busy however due to the weekend. Made our Waterfall experience slightly less. Recommend walking sticks during the hike. Loved the hummingbird stop. Freddy our Guide/Driver was excellent. Very knowledgeable and friendly and easy to understand in English.

This was one of our favorite days. Our driver was a wonderful man and a safe driver which I really appreciated. He was very patient and loving with my daughter. We had so much fun. He never rushed us. We spent time feeding the hummingbirds- we learned so much. Tiny toucans even showed up right next to us. We did a fun hike through the rain forest and my daughter loved the cable car. So much so she decided to go ziplining after. These memories we will have forever of beautiful Ecuador. The food at the restaurant was fresh and lovely.

Hugo collected us from our hotel and took us on a wonderful tour to see some hummingbirds and the mindo cloud forest. He was very knowledgable about the city and Ecuador and was able to keep us entertained with lots of interesting facts and stories on the drive. We had a little time left over after the cloud forest so Hugo gave us some options of what we could do with the time. We chose to go to a butterfly farm and had an excellent time.
Hugo was a brilliant guide - we felt like we were in safe, knowledgable hands.

The trail to the falls can be steep in areas. The tour is wonderful. The hummingbird experience was absolutely worth the ride! It’s so much more than just hummingbirds. The flora and the tanagers are beautiful and the hosts were so friendly. Xiemma was the best guide. She was very knowledgeable and very easy to work with, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our experiences.

Xermina was a fantastic guide with continuous dialogue on the 2 hour bus ride to the cloud forest. The forest was an incredible hike through the woods which climaxed at the waterfall. The Cable car ride back was a blast.

We had an EXCELLENT guide to Mindo Cloudforest, hummingbirds, butterflies, and chocolate factory. The chocolate factory was worth the $10 entry fee ... which is rarely the case.

This was a lovely day out with a superb guide Luis! We visited a little bird place, fed the hummingbirds and saw lots of different birds. Luis then took us to Mindo, a very interesting town which we had the opportunity to walk through/shop. Then onto the cloud forest where we took the full hike to see all the waterfalls, we swam in one! The walk probably took a couple of hours and is not easy but fun. Our guide told us so much about the flora. The cable car was an experience! After this, we visited a chocolate experience in Mindo which was very interesting and lots of chocolate to taste (an additional cost). I would 100% recommend this tour, especially with Luis.

I purchased a private tour for this mainly for birds and wildlife. Although we had a a great guide and good experience, I suggest staying more than one day.
We had sunshine the first 30 min and then clouds and rain rolled in and it was too dark to get good photos the rest of the day. Esp of fast moving hummingbirds. Also I believe there would be more birds in the morning and we arrived around 10am and didn't see much at all. I will return and give a second review but this was a very big disappointment for me personally and I left feeling very frustrated because I know the potential of this place. All the review pics posted are amazing and I was really hoping to leave with some good pics.
I am an avid birder and I spend a lot of money chasing birds but lost this gamble. I heard of this place by many people, saw Their pictures and had high expectations and was really excited to show my son all the birds but unfortunately we only had 1 day and didn't see much besides the hummingbirds and it felt rushed. I tried to stay optimistic as the day went on but it just got worse.
We did an hour hike and saw nothing moving in the beautiful cloud forest. Heard nothing. It was completely void of birds, wildlife, insects.
The cable car was the highlight for us. We also did some zip lining just to make up for the lack of wildlife. I am sure it was just an off day or we were in the wrong place at the wrong time but I felt deflated by the end with very few pics on my camera and it felt like a pretty big loss of $300 that could have been spent on something much better.
If you are flying in to see mindo, I highly suggest staying in the area for more than 1 day.
I really want to return but will be very apprehensive next time about losing another chunk of money. Never a good feeling.

Our visit to the Mindo Cloud Forest was one of the highlights of our trip to Ecuador. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with lush green forests, beautiful waterfalls, and an incredible variety of birds and wildlife. It felt like stepping into another world.
Everything was well organized, and there were so many amazing experiences—from walking through the cloud forest to enjoying the peaceful surroundings and spotting colorful hummingbirds. The natural beauty and biodiversity are truly unforgettable.
If you’re visiting Ecuador, the Mindo Cloud Forest is a must-see destination. It’s the perfect place to relax, connect with nature, and experience one of the country’s most spectacular landscapes. We can’t recommend it highly enough!

I had the most day with Ximena as my very knowledgeable guide! She was right on time and we immediately drove to the cloud forest and took a small hike as she pointed out the different plants and pointed out things I would have never seen. We went to see hummingbirds, toucans snd other beautiful small birds. After that we went to a beautiful butterfly sanctuary and then into the town of Mindo where we had a wonderful lunch at a local place in town and after had an awesome chocolate tour showing how chocolate is made. I highly recommend this wonderful tour and Ximena does such an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable. It was a perfect day!

Our guide Fredy was excellent! He drove us safely to the cloud forest led us on many excursions, and made the whole experience enjoyable and stress-free. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we had a great time. Fredy is excellent at spotting birds. I had a foot injury so he did a great job at creating the perfect itinerary. Highly recommended!

The tour was amazing! The hummingbird experience was incredible, there was also a nice hike for about an hour (that can be extended), and the butterfly place was great! What is nice about it is you can choose different things to do when you’re in Mindo. Luis was an exceptional guide who did well contextualising the environment with current events and its past.

Luis was a fabulous guide. Our day was absolutely the test. We visited the Mindo Cloud Forest and saw the hummingbirds as well as other birds (San Tadeo Birding), visited Mariposas de Mindo for the butterflies. We had a delicious lunch in Mindo. Was a great day!

The trip to Mindo was fantastic. We were able to choose from several activities presented by our guide to fill in our day. We chose; a walk to a waterfall, viewing hummingbirds, riding a zip line bicycle, taking a gondola ride and having a chocolate tasting activities. Note that most activities have a small fee associated with them outside of booking the guide. From $5 -&10 dollars. Our favorites were the bird watching where we were surrounded by incredibly diverse and beautiful hummingbirds and chocolate tasting where we were walked through all of the steps required to make chocolate from cocao beans then we tasted various flavors of chocolate as well as other chocolate products. Ximena, our guide led us through all activities and provided tons of insight on the culture and history of the place.

Absolutely awesome experience. I would really recommend that you go to the second hummingbird place ($10 entry), it is hidden away but it is SO worth it.
Our guide Miriam was informative, friendly, funny and relaxed. The pacing and the activities were perfect, enjoyed every moment.
