The long slog up the scree field and the heavy breathing are currently the most vivid memories. However, like any challenge the difficult parts will fade and the beauty of the experience will come ro the front. It was just what I was looking for. The guide was great and it was made very clear that we could stop at any time. I would definitely recommend.

Fun tour with a great guide, Joel -- very funny and fun. I was glad the hike was a good workout (I couldn't tell from the description whether it would be). I was a little disappointed that we didn't got to 5000m or the glaciers, like the description said. Apparently that was "a different tour." It was fun that people from different tours were combined on the bus so we could meet people with overlapping itineraries. So people know, the biking can be a little scary! It's a fairly steep gravel road with lots of curves and shared with cars, thankfully you can go as slow as you want or skip it entirely, just thought people should know, even though I enjoyed it.
Personally, I could've skipped the breakfast stop in favor of having more time at the mountain earlier in the day (even a quick sit-down breakfast takes time!)
Our group saw a fox, a condor, and some other birds at the lake. We had really clear weather too.

Prompt pickup from meeting point. Stopped for breakfast. Order was sent in from bus to expedite. Cotopaxi & surrounding mountains were gorgeous. Hike was VERY windy. Wear SUNGLASSES to protect eyes. Warm top, hat that wont blow off, gloves & wind jacket. (I did not see this mentioned on info). Trail was on volcanic gravel so a little slippery but not technically difficult other than from wind & altitude. (I'm 60 yeaes old with bilateral knee replacements & went to 5000m) At altitude so drink coca tea or suck on candy that you can buy at breakfast stop. Beautiful views from top. Biking was disappointing. Maybe 20 minutes downhill on total washboard with very loose gravel on top. Skidded several times. Wind really pushes bike. (I just biked 4000 across US so not a novice biker). Walking at lake was pretty. Lunch was typical Equadorian. Views TOTALLY worth the cost/ time.

Simply an amazing trip, with amazing people and perfect weather! This trip is a must when you are in Quito!

Victor and the team were great guides and we had a truly memorable experience. The hike is challenging at altitude but the team was ready to take you as far as you could go. We got lucky weather wise and took the switchbacks up and made it to base camp. Riding the bikes down was a thrill and had a great time!

We loved this trip out of Quito. The guide was wonderful. We stopped at a family restaurant in our way in for breakfast (not expected), and were happy to drink chocolate and coca to help prevent any altitude sickness. The hike was enjoyable and easy if you take your time. The bike ride was the scariest part of the whole trip- not because the road is bad, but the bikes have probably not been checked over in ten years. The bikes are ancient with v-brakes, chains falling off, shocks with no absorption, and broken brake levers. Still, it’s a fun ride down, even if it feels like an accident in the making.

This was one of the most physically demanding and yet fun adventures in which I have ever participated. Our guide, Stui, was fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and just a lot of fun to spend the day with during such a fantastic excursion.

Thoroughly recommend this tour. Great guides, views were amazing. Hike is a definitely a little tough but nothing the average person can’t handle. Gracias a Stui !

This was the highlight of my trip to Ecuador! The hike is absolutely amazing! It's a bit challenging with the high altitude, but absolutely doable. The views you get from the hike are amazing and the mountain biking on the way down is so much fun!! Can highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves outdoor activities. We even saw wild horses!!

First of all, the group (from all around the world) was amazing! The tour guide is very fluent in English which is really nice. He made the bus ride fun by telling stories, letting us bond as a group. The (optional) breakfast and (complementary) lunch is in the same place, very nutritious! Like the guide (Stui) told us: the weather is unpredictable. Our day started off windy, cloudy and cold. However later that day we also got some sun and the clouds cleared a bit. We took the steep path up the Cotopaxi, which was exhausting but doable. The cycling was very fun! Just don’t overestimate yourself and keep your speed low and your eyes open for some potholes on the way down. If you do that you’ll really enjoy your day!

I was a really beautiful trip! The guides were really nice. But I didn’t like it that we were in a rush because one of the group members had to be on time for here flight. Because of this we really rushed everything. And i couldnt enjoy the biking at all because of that.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
Thank you for your opinion and a thousand apologies, this person from the flight told us the night before that she should arrive earlier at the airport, but we managed the times very well and we made the whole trip, maybe we were ahead with only 20 minutes more.

Awesome tour and awesome activities. Probably one of the best tours I’ve been on. Bring snacks because it is a late lunch.

Great trip, incredible views. Take care with any altitude sickness, and the guide will also assist you readily !

Amazing! Our guides were incredible and the climb/bike was exciting but totally doable. I totally recommend this trip to anyone looking for a way to experience cotopaxi. We had all ages in the group from 20-70 so everyone is welcome!

This is definitely for more experienced hikers and bikers not any average person. I didn't make it to the refuge site and saw 2 people fell off their bike on this excursion. Wear proper shoes and clothing for it. Also drink the coca tea like the tour guide advised. I made a mistake of not drinking it and suffer the altitude sickness while there which was unpleasant.

if you want a good walk/hike on the Cotopaxi volcano along with a bike ride mostly downhill -– but with some challenging uphill sections—then this is exactly for you. The pick up was seamless and the guide made the 1 hour or so ride out to Cotopaxi incredibly informative and enjoyable.

Both Alex (the driver) and Alex (the guide) were incredible. I was delighted that the time and pickup location were confirmed beforehand and that they arrived at the pickup point on time. It was a long drive, but Alex made it seem shorter by providing commentary along the route. I thought that including lunch was a nice touch and it was much more food than I expected. If you are in reasonable physical condition I would highly recommend this tour.
