Wonderful experience - Andres was a great guide - very knowledgeable. Santiago was a great driver for this long excursion. The volcanoes were spectacular - we were very lucky with the weather. Lunch was terrific local food - muy bueno! My only caution would be to be prepared for very winding twisty roads up to the second volcano. Quillatona. Worth the long drive full of switchbacks at 14,000 feet altitude - spectacular views. Just be prepared if you get carsick.

Jackie_F, Jul 2026
Great experience! I had Andres as my guide and Jimmy as my driver. Both were very kind, prompt, informative. Jimmy was an excellent driver, so glad I did the tour so I didnt have to drive those windy roads myself. Andres provided ample knowledge during the drive and will at each of the stops. Would highly recommend this tour Note: I am an active hiker, the elevation really got to me. Was surprised by it but Andres was so kind and helpful along the way.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

It's wonderful to know that Andrés' knowledge and support, along with Jimmy's careful driving, helped make your journey both enjoyable and comfortable. We're also glad that Andrés was there to assist you with the effects of the altitude. Even experienced hikers can be surprised by the elevation, and we're happy to know he made sure you felt supported throughout the day. Thank you again for your kind words. We hope to welcome you back to Ecuador soon so you can continue exploring everything our beautiful country has to offer.

100% Helpful at every turn

Amy_N, Jun 2026
Our guide was excellent. We had one get altitude sickness (we are from sea level) and they were great and stopped when we needed and helped get us what we needed. We didn’t get to do all the hiking that we wanted to but that was because of us, not the tour. Couldn’t have asked for more from the agency.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you so much for your kind review, dear Amy! We’re really glad to hear that you felt supported and well taken care of during your trip. We’re especially happy that your guide was able to assist you when needed and adjust the pace of the tour to make sure you were comfortable and safe. Your well-being is always our top priority. Remarkable Ecuadorian Day

Ellen_S, May 2026
My partner and I spent a memorable day visiting the awesome Cotopaxi Volcano National Park and the spectacular Laguna Quilotoa. What made the all-day trip so worthwhile was our engaging and personable guide Andres, who was extremely informative throughout the tour. Adding to the awesome view of the volcano was seeing condors, wild horses, and deer and feeding alpacas. The two-hour drive from Cotopaxi to Quilotoa takes a winding mountain road, but the scenery was amazing, and our driver Jimmy did a masterful job.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your partner had such a memorable day exploring Cotopaxi National Park and the breathtaking Quilotoa Lagoon. Seeing condors, wild horses, deer, and even feeding alpacas certainly makes for a very special adventure! We’re especially happy to know that Andres helped make the journey so enjoyable with his knowledge and friendly personality. We’ll also be sure to pass along your kind words to Jimmy navigating the mountain roads safely and comfortably is no small task, and he will be delighted to know his efforts were appreciated. Thank you for traveling with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Ecuador for more unforgettable experiences in the future!!! Best, Real Dreams Team

Ruth_C, Mar 2026
We had limited time in Quito, and while this is a long excursion, it was well worth it! Our guide, Rasu, was fabulous! Personable, knowledgeable, and a great ambassador for the region and the country. Cotapaxi was hidden by clouds when we first visited the park, but revealed her beauty later in the day. Quilatoa was an amazing spot. The walk down toward the lake was relatively easy, but the return uphill was quite strenuous, due to the altitude.

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 We're so glad to hear the excursion was worthwhile and that you learned so much from Rasu. It's wonderful that Cotopaxi revealed its beauty later that day. That moment is always magical! And yes, the climb to Quilotoa can be quite a challenge, but it's all part of the adventure! Thanks again for sharing your experience. We hope to welcome you back to Ecuador for another adventure in the future! :)

We greatly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Ecuador someday.

We had a wonderful day with Pedro!

Jessica_H, Feb 2026
After nearly two weeks of nonstop travel and activities we were exhausted, but Cotopaxi and Quilotoa were at the top of our list of things we wanted to do and so we continued on with our planned activity. We really appreciated Pedro's flexibility with us cutting some things short and mainly hitting the highlights. The included Ecuadorian lunch was great. We enjoyed the background information that was provided about the indigenous community around Quilotoa and wished we'd had the energy to interact more meaningfully with them, explore the Saturday market, and fully experience the cultural aspects of the tour. Overall, we loved the tour and Pedro and the long drives provided us some much needed time to rest while experiencing parts of Ecuador we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It was a great endcap to our travel, although we'd recommend others schedule it earlier while you still have the stamina to take full advantage of what this day tour offers.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

We’re truly happy to hear that Cotopaxi and Quilotoa were at the top of your list and that you loved the experience. It means a lot to know that Pedro’s flexibility, the highlights of the tour, and the traditional Ecuadorian lunch made your day special. We’re also glad you enjoyed learning about the indigenous community around Quilotoa and that the journey itself allowed you to relax while discovering beautiful parts of Ecuador you might not have seen otherwise. It was an honor to be part of the final chapter of your trip. We’d love to welcome you back anytime for more unforgettable adventures!

An Amazing Day in Ecuador

Barbarabenke, Feb 2026
Ayrton (sp?) and Santiago were the perfect pair for our trip to Cotopaxi and the Lagoon. Ayrton was amazing with his dialogue, and answered any of our questions. Santiago was very helpful to me, since I was recovering from a hip replacement, slower than anticipated when we booked this tour. Our lunch at the indigenous town was exceptional. The day could not have been better, and I thank Ayrton and Santiago very much.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Hi Barbara Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that Ayrton and Santiago made your visit to Cotopaxi and the beautiful Laguna Quilotoa such a memorable experience. It means a lot to know that Ayrton’s explanations and Santiago’s attentive support especially during your recovery helped make the day comfortable and enjoyable. We’re also thrilled you loved the lunch in the indigenous community! We truly appreciate your trust in us and hope to welcome you back to Ecuador for another unforgettable adventure.

A worthwhile excursion if you’re short on time

Lora_K, Dec 2025
This excursion has a lot of driving time so it’s recommended to schedule it when you need a day of relaxation. Our guide, Pedro was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. We were lucky with weather and got to see the glaciers at Cotopaxi. The walk around the lake at the bottom was interesting. Pedro was mindful of the time and made sure we arrived at Quiotola before the cloud coverage. The drive between the two is long but the views are beautiful and interesting. Lunch was authentic and delicious. There were plenty of opportunities to use the bathroom.

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re really happy to hear that you enjoyed the excursion and that Pedro took such great care of you throughout the day. How lucky that the weather cooperated and you were able to see the Cotopaxi glaciers, it's not always that clear! We’re also glad to know you enjoyed the walk around the lake, the beautiful views along the drive, and the traditional lunch. Thank you for appreciating the timing and planning; we always do our best to make each experience comfortable and special. We’d be delighted to welcome you back to Ecuador in the future. Thank you for trusting us!

Too much bus

Jane_A, Nov 2025
The planned activities are too ambitious and too far apart from each other. The proposed hikes were ill described and there wasn’t enough time to do the Quilotoa hike as we didn’t arrive until 1:30 and we still had to have lunch. Therefore, we didn’t get to the hike part until three o’clock. With a very long time in bus ahead to get back to hotel. The only very positive experience was both our guide, Ayrton and our driver, Guillermo were amazing. In addition, allowing a sick person to join the group has resulted in one of our party to become ill. I would suggest a refund option for those who condition compromises the health of others.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Hi Jane Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased to know that both Ayrton and Guillermo provided excellent service during the tour. Regarding the itinerary, our guide reported that the group arrived at Quilotoa Lagoon at 1:30 p.m. and was taken directly to the main viewpoint. At that moment, he asked whether you preferred to do the hike first or have lunch, and the group chose to have lunch. After lunch, the hike was indeed carried out. One of the participants mentioned that they could not descend all the way to the lagoon shore due to recent surgeries on both knees, which we fully respected. During the descent, your group consulted with the other couple to confirm if they were comfortable not hiking all the way down, and they agreed without any issue. Therefore, the group decided not to descend completely, but the hike both down and back up was completed within the physical limits communicated. Regarding the health concern, the passenger mentioned informed the group that they had a stomach discomfort, not a contagious illness such as the flu. In accordance with our policies, refunds are not applicable for non-contagious personal conditions. The tour was conducted as a Small Group experience with a total of 6 passengers: your group of 4 and an additional couple, traveling in a tourist vehicle with a capacity for 18 passengers, ensuring ample comfort throughout the journey. It is also important to mention that, at the end of the tour, Ayrton checked once again how everyone was feeling, and you confirmed that everything was fine. Later, the guide returned to your hotel to deliver an item your group had forgotten in the vehicle, demonstrating once again our team’s commitment and attention to detail. Regarding the Quito airport transfer requested one day before the tour through our office, we understand it may have caused some inconvenience that this service carries an additional cost. However, this transfer requires an extra one hour drive outside the city, and the corresponding fee is clearly indicated on Viator’s platform at the time of booking. Even so, our team offered a special discount, although you ultimately chose to return to your hotel instead, which we also arranged without any issue. We truly regret that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. Nevertheless, we are confident that our team acted professionally, transparently, and in accordance with all service policies. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue improving. Sincerely, Management Lilian Meza Real Dreams Tour

An incredible day of exploring the Andes.

What an incredible day touring Cotopaxi and Quilotoa. Andres was a terrific guide. He is so passionate and knowledgeable about the mountains and the indigenous people of the Equadorian Andes. He is also very personable and made a long day enjoyable. The driver, Jimmy was so cautious and alert. We felt very safe in his hands. He also has a great personality. Great day Highland exploring!

Chris_E, Jul 2025
Had a fantastic day on a private tour with Pedro! He picked us up on time and we spent a wonderdful day exploring beautiful scenary. Pedro was very knowledgeable and passionate. He took us first to Cotopaxi and showed us the beautiful national park and mountain. Then we visited the quilotoa lagoon which was gorgeous and we had a great lunch after! The drives are long from Quito but absolutely beautiful the entire way. We also rested on the way back and it went by fast. Great day!

We saw a lot of Equador...

Nicole_T, Jun 2025
We saw a lot of Ecuador and Pedro was a FANTASTIC tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about Ecuador and about the natural areas of Ecuador. Great driver and we felt safe the entire time. He also provided water. Pedro was flexible and stopped when we wanted to take a picture or check something out. The trip is long, you spend a lot of time in the car driving to the caldera and back, but all in all it is what we wanted, to see the landscape of Ecuador and how the rural people live. The lunch was a bit confusing. We paid $50 each extra for lunch included and had a choice of soup and chicken and rice or an omelet. If you didn't want those items, you paid extra. ??? The meal price listed on the menu is $4-$6. Not sure what we paid $50 each for, so my advice is don't pay extra for a meal, just buy it for yourself at the restaurant.

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Thank you so much for your review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the Cotopaxi and Quilotoa tour, and that Pedro helped make your experience unforgettable. Regarding the lunch, we’d like to clarify that the restaurant sets the prices, and the vegetarian dish you selected had an additional cost as it was an à la carte option, not part of the standard tour menu. We understand this may have caused some confusion, and we appreciate your feedback, which will help us Thanks again for travelling with us, and we look forward to many more adventures together! Regards, Real Dreams Team

Cloudy rainy day on Cotopaxi and Quiloto

Mary_T, Apr 2025
Pedro met us at our hotel on time and we harassed off to Cotopaxi. It was a beautiful drive unfortunately because of low clouds our visibility was restricted. We stopped and fed alpacas and met a family raising guinea pigs. We could barely make out the base camp but it was fun to see. We drove to Quiloto lagoon and looked down on the lagoon but it was very foggy. We had a delicious Ecuadorian lunch. After lunch we attempted to walk the path down to the lagoon but the path was muddy and slippery so turned around. We headed back to Quito. Pedro was knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend him

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Great day trip from Quito!

Catherine_K, Apr 2025
What a great day! We were nervous that, being the rainy season, we wouldn’t be able to see much of Cotopaxi, but the clouds parted just as we arrived! What a gorgeous sight, and a nice walk around the lagoon. Then we had a nice drive to Quilotoa, which might be the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Pedro was a wonderful guide, so knowledgeable about the plant and animal life and answered our many questions about Quito and Ecuador. He made pit stops when we needed, took lots of pictures for us, and gave us plenty of time to explore so we didn’t feel rushed. 10/10 recommend!

My guide Pedro was so knowledgeable and helpful. I had a wonderful day seeing some really exciting scenery. The Cotopaxi volcano was magnificent and we saw condors flying around the summit. I would highly recommend this tour so that you can be immersed in the beautiful countryside of Ecuador. And special thanks to Pedro for all his interesting facts - I learned so much!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

A great day of scenery and culture with Diego.

Peter_C, Mar 2025
The tour covered Cotopaxi and Quilatoa, which was long day, but we had a great time. The weather wasn't great, so we only say the lower snow-covered part of Cotopaxi, but it was the rainy season, so not surprising. Diego was excellent, very knowledgably, friendly and made it a great day despite the weather. He was patient and flexible, allowing us to visit a few smaller locations on the day, despite those detours meant that he got back home very late after an early start. The car was very comfortable and the views on the road between Cotopaxi and Quilatoa were beautiful. I'd definitely recommend Diego as a fabulous guide and the trip for the scenery and cultural experience.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you!! 😀Your comment is important for us to continue working! We're glad to know you enjoyed the tour with Diego despite the weather. Diego is an excellent guide! We hope you return to Ecuador soon. 🌼We'll be delighted to welcome you. Best regards, Real Dreams Team 🐢

Day tour to Cotopaxi and two Lagoons

Maria_L, Mar 2025
We had a private tour with our guide Diego. He was on time picking us up and his car was clean and comfortable. Our first stop was a viewpoint of Quito. I believe he said Quito is about 87 km long. We then hot the road and stopped at a gas station to pick up coffee and snacks and use the restroom. Of you have a hard time adjusting to the high altitude, eat something sweet. We then headed to Cotopaxi which was about 1.5 hr drive. We stopped at the entry point to pay the entry fee which is covered on the tour cost. We then drove through the park to see Cotopaxi. It was a bit foggy so most of the top of the volcano was covered. We then reached Laguna de Limpiopungo and walked around the lagoon. The landscape and wildlife was beautiful. It started to rain as we were leaving so our chances of see the top of the volcano before leaving was gone. Off we went to Los Andenes de Zumbahua, an indigenous village. The landscape on this drive which I think was between 1.5 - 2 hrs was quite nice. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperative, it was raining. So when Laguna Quilotoa was not at all visible. The rain and fog completely covered it. Of course mother nature will do it's thing and we can't do anything about it. More reason for us to return during the dry season. We had lunch in the village and really enjoyed it. We then decided to head back as the rain started to get heavier. As part of the tour there are 3 other stops .. one to an art gallery and the other two I can't remember. We decided we didn't want to do that so we headed back to Quito which is a 3 hour drive. Again, Diego was great, he explained a lot history to us, he was very nice and professional, always ensured that we were comfortable. He also took great photos for us. Highly recommend him!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re delighted to hear that you had a great experience with Diego, despite the unpredictable weather. It’s wonderful that you enjoyed the landscapes, wildlife, and cultural stops along the way. Diego always strives to provide insightful and comfortable tours, and we’re glad he made your trip memorable. We appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back during the dry season for clearer views of Quilotoa and Cotopaxi!

This was a fulfilling and enriching experience that surpassed all expectations. Diego P was our guide who made us comfortable and at ease immediately. His conversational English is excellent, and he spent time at the beginning of the trip getting to know us and what we hoped to get from our adventure. He tailored the tour to our expressed interests in nature, indigenous culture and art and incorporated stops and information that will forever remain highlights of our time in Ecuador. Diego is an exceptional human and a positive example of Ecuadorian kindness and pride. Oh, and Cotopaxi and Quilotoa are totally amazing as well.

Too much travel time !!

BrianK, Oct 2024
Coltopaxi was magnificent and Quilotoa was amazing. Our guide, Ricky was knowledgeable friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately the 2 destinations are very far apart. On this 10 hour tour we spent 7 hours in the car and 3 hours sightseeing and enjoying a great lunch. Pick one destination or the other. Too much transit time. Would not hesitate to book a different trip with same tour operator.

Hi Brian Thank you for your review and honest feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the beauty of Cotopaxi and Quilotoa, as well as Ricky’s company. We know that combining these two destinations in a single day involves considerable travel time, but we designed this tour specifically for travelers who are short on time and want to experience both places in one intense, memorable day. For those seeking a more relaxed pace, we also offer a two-day option, allowing more time to fully enjoy each destination. We appreciate your recommendation.
