What are people saying about Kyoto

Fun for kids
Wonderful experience with kids. Cute and fun and not too long of a commitment if you’re trying to fit a bunch in. Kids had a great time and I got some really fun photos to remember. Guided tour was animated and engaging. Little packed in… so if you’re claustrophobic, make other plans.

Must do for a wholesome experience ❤️
It was such a wonderful workshop. Beautiful experience. The activity, the vibe of the place was just amazing. It felt truly wholesome. Haru was a delight and was super patient. The best souvenir you can take back is something you have made yourself the Japanese way… Kintsugi!

The chopsticks making...
The chopsticks making experience is a fun activity that does not require a huge time commitment. Franz was very friendly and provided clear, easy instructions. Engraving costs extra but we have a unique and useful keepsake to bring home from our trip. Allow extra time to find the workshop - it’s a bit hidden in an alley that runs parallel to a main street.

Beautiful experience
I absolutely loved this. The gentleman (and his son) taking the workshop really knew his stuff and under his patient guidance we made a beautiful piece to make a light shade. It felt very relaxing and medatitive. Learned a lot about washi paper. Great to see the short film to see how the raw material is prepared. A great use of time whilst our pieces were drying. I felt like I had been dipped in the essence of Japan culture
Totally recommend

Experience a new art form
We got to experience a beautiful art form in a way that we could try the technique and also appreciate the years of practice and repetition takes to truly become a craftsman as skilled as our teachers. I will definitely be taking this class again and I highly recommend it to anyone of any skill, you will not be disappointed!

Cool Photography With Knife Making
Very cool introduction to knife making. The staff gave very detailed instructions on what to do and how to do it.
Cool visual effects from the experience, be ready for great photo opportunities.
This is a must do when in Kyoto.
Be prepared for figuring out transportation. The system is great, but you may need an hour if using the local transport lines.

Authentic Japanese experience
Aya gave us a truly special experience. The class took place in her home, which made it deeply meaningful for our family. Being welcomed into a traditional Japanese home added an authenticity we will never forget.
She is a skilled and passionate teacher — clear in her instruction and encouraging throughout. What meant the most to us was how she recognized our son Max’s artistic ability and encouraged him. That moment alone made the experience priceless.
Her English is excellent, which made communication easy and comfortable. We felt honored to learn from her and grateful for the opportunity to experience Japanese calligraphy in such an intimate and authentic setting.
A memorable experience we will always cherish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A truly unforgettable Kyoto experience!
We absolutely loved this onigawara (traditional ridge-end tile) workshop in Kyoto, it was amazing for all ages and skill levels!
From start to finish, the experience was warm, fun, and creatively inspiring. Our teacher/artisan was incredibly kind, patient, and encouraging, taking us through the process step by step so even complete beginners felt confident and excited. The hands-on instruction made every moment enjoyable and accessible.
What sets this workshop apart is the unique souvenir you take home your very own piece of art that’s deeply connected to Japanese culture and history. Instead of just buying something generic, you walk away with a personal piece woven into Kyoto’s architectural tradition.
Another uncommon and fantastic bonus is that your fired tile is shipped to you after the experience, something you don’t often get with pottery classes!
This was one of the most memorable cultural experiences we had in Kyoto, and we highly recommend it to all visitors — families, couples, solo travelers, and art lovers alike.

A fun afternoon.
This was a really fun activity to do, you get to chose your plate that you want to do kintsugi on, that is an extra cost, anything for 500yen to 4000yen. The staff will then guide you on how to do the craft. It's a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere with fellow travellers.

This is my 1st time...
This is my 1st time playing and learning some very important information on Taiko Drums. I really enjoyed playing with the Taiko Drums. It also brought back memories on reading music notes for me. And in general I love Drums myself. I want to thank Michiko, Richie, and Aoi for the wonderful and educational session with the Taiko Drums. Arigato Guzaimasu for everything and the history of the Taiko Drums...what those Drums were mainly used for

I had a wonderful time...
I had a wonderful time shaping my own pewter sake cup at this workshop. Kanako is a professional in her craft and made the experience easy for beginners and provided clear instructions to help. In the end, I was able to keep an engraved custom souvenir to take home with me!

An amazingly fun...
An amazingly fun experience, definitely a must try. My only critique would be that the directions were a bit vague and nebulous sometimes. My friends and I weren't sure if we were doing the right thing a third of the time haha. But I'd still highly recommend as it was a fun experience
