I booked this excursion as a last-minute fill-in between two other excursions I had already planned, so I was honestly skeptical about how much I would enjoy it. Let me tell you—it was absolutely worth it!
It was a great experience, very informative, and I especially enjoyed learning about the different types and grades of chopsticks. If you’re looking for a unique Japanese experience that’s a little different from the typical tourist activities, this is definitely a must-do!
Great short activity for Kyoto and a really meaningful souvenir. We had so much fun and our guide Dani was perfect and helpful!

We loved our experience. Happy with the process and our guide Sai was very helpful. My partner paid extra to get a different type of wood to create his chopsticks, we decided not to get any engraving (also additional fee). Happy with the way they came out, pack and sealed like a gift & can’t wait to use them once back in our home country.

Minh was a great teacher! She speaks English very well and was very nice to my family. We had no plans in Kyoto and played the day by ear. This was a great activity and we have a super unique souvenir! I would recommend this activity to anyone traveling to Kyoto. We also arrived early and they were able to seat us earlier than our booking time. 10/10!

Honestly a pretty great activity up until the end. Fun activity if you have an hour to spend inside a great district of Kyoto. Only unfortunate part was Shirin our guide for the experience didn’t inform us of additional costs until the very end and we ended up paying twice the regular amount which seemed very unprofessional.

Fun class. Easy to follow the instructions and not too difficult. Many uncharge options available too (special wood, engraving). Loved this experience and now have a memorable souvenir too!
This was a great activity with our kids aged 10 and 15. We signed up for the 9:30 am class and it was a bit busy, but it didn't interfere with our experience. It seemed less busy when we left at 10:30. Each group is assigned their own instructor who walks you through the chop stock making process from start to end. Our guide JIGNA was fantastic; she was so patient and thoughtful. It was slightly tougher than I thought, but she kept reminding us that our sticks were perfectly imperfect. When you book online, you pay for the basic wood chopsticks, which I would recommend because the more expensive wood is also harder to chisel/sand down if you are a rookie. We also opted to do the engraving afterwards, which added on an additional $50, for 4 people's chopsticks. All in all, the activity cost us about $100 USD and was really fun. We got some cool souvenirs, pictures and memories to take with us.

We had a great time making chopsticks together as a family! It was fun, easy to do, and everyone got to make their own unique pair. The instructors were really friendly and made the whole experience enjoyable. It was a great way to start the day in Kyoto, and we loved taking home something we made ourselves. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun family activity!

This was a great activity to really engage with the culture and history intimately and walk away with a usable souvenir that will remind you of the trip every time you use the chopsticks. The included wood options were nice but it’s probably rare for someone to just go with what’s included in the base price. That said, it’s not all that much more for the upgrades (and willpower is near zero on vacation). Our helper was super nice, helpful, engaging and knowledgeable. My son is asking to do it again he had such a great time!
Loved the experience! Very easy to follow instructions, but still requires a little bit of effort to do. Great craft workshop, would recommend!
