Weather forecast was for...
Weather forecast was for rain and it didn’t look promising but the reality was that despite a little rain it was an amazing experience. Guide was great and didn’t feel crowded or rushed with adequate time on the glacier for a beginners tour. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you

Great guide and hike
We had a great hike with Ola on the glacier! Amazing views, and facts about the glacier! It was a must see!

Great experience! 3h is perfect for elderly like my parents! We saw several blue caves and the hiking was very easy. Our tour guide has a beard braid, he is very knowledgeable and funny

Ice Cave Tour - Very unique!
Signed up for a 9:30am tour. Got an email 2 days before asking if we could change to 11:15am or offering a refund. We made it work. Meeting parking area was easy to find —it took a little bit to figure out which exact van to go to. 13 in our group. They provided crampons and helmet. The 25min ride out was bumpy but the local guide driver was skilled. It was a short windy walk over the glacier to the caves. We visited 6 caves of varying size, shape and depth of color. Beautiful and unique.

  • Dress in layers, bring waterproof boots, and be prepared for the weather to change.

  • Pack plenty of snacks and water; while there are plenty of restaurants along the perimeter of the park, their hours are limited, and if you’re venturing deep into the park they won’t do you any good.

  • You don’t need Vatnajokull National Park tickets to hike in the park; however, you’ll have to pay what’s called a regional fee (from approximately US$7) if you enter the park by car at Skaftafell or Jokulsarlon.

  • Hiking trails are marked according to level of difficulty and indicate which are appropriate for wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility.

  • Day tours vary in length by season; in the summer there are up to 21 hours of sunlight whereas the winter sees as few as four hours of sunlight.
