The perfect pesto experience — a happy accident!
We actually ended up booking this pesto class at the last minute after the vineyard pesto class we had originally planned was unexpectedly cancelled, and I’m so glad we did because this turned out to be one of our favorite experiences! The class was such a nice pace — relaxed, fun, and informative without ever feeling rushed. Our instructor was wonderful and, being local to the region where pesto originated, made the experience feel especially authentic. The pesto we made was genuinely some of the best we had during our entire trip, and getting to sit down afterward and enjoy it right there with some lovely wine pairings made it even better. As an added bonus, our instructor’s name was Luca, which we thought was so fun considering we were in the Ligurian towns that inspired the setting of Luca. It was such a cute little coincidence that made the experience even more memorable. Our train was delayed, so we arrived a little later than planned, but our instructor was incredibly understanding and welcoming, and it didn’t negatively impact our experience at all. The location is also extremely easy to get to from the train station, which makes this a great activity if you’re visiting the area by train. What started as a last-minute backup plan ended up being an amazing experience that we would absolutely recommend. Great pesto, great wine, a wonderful instructor, and such a fun way to experience a piece of Ligurian culture!

A good way to get to see the area in one day. Our driver provided facts about the area during the drive and was available throughout the day for questions or recommendations. It’s nice having someone to take care of the train and ferry tickets so you can enjoy exploring the villages. Pick and drop was nice and smooth. Air conditioned van was nice given the heat.

The tour itself was a great way to see all 5 cities from the water, a perspective you can't get from visiting each city on foot! After initially leaving the dock, we had to return to pick up some last minute passengers. I would have rather been delayed than to leave the dock and then have to return. There's also a 10 Euro gas fee (?) per person that has to be paid upfront in cash, this was in the reminder email for the tour but I would have preferred to just have that cost added to the tour price. I did this tour at the end of my trip and was running low on Euros. They do give you unlimited drinks/water and a sandwich and cookie, which hit the spot after stopping to swim.

A great intro to Cinque Terre!
This day trip is a great way to see this area in a short amount of time. Had lunch at a wonderful restaurant, took in the magnificent scenery. Wished we could stay longer. This trip gives you a great taste of what the cinque terre area is like. Highly recommend it!

The five picturesque fishing villages on Italy’s northwest coast, known as the Cinque Terre, offer travelers everything they love about Italy: great food, wine, and jaw-dropping views. On Cinque Terre tours, you can fully embrace la dolce vita by taking a sunset cruise, kayaking from the Stella Marina baths in Monterosso to hidden coves, or simply savoring an aperitif on the water as you soak in the breathtaking vistas. Off the water, you’ll find plenty of food-centric excursions, from small group cooking classes to intimate dining experiences, where you can learn the secrets of crafting authentic pesto and pasta.
