About 100 kilometers from Bucharest and 44 kilometers from Ploiesti, the Slanic salt mine is a recognized destination for balneal and touristic activities since 1853, when it was declared a tourist destination of national interest in Romania. Among the superlatives of the salt mine (especially the Union Mine), the most important tourist and health objective in the resort, there is a huge volume of excavated salt, about 2.9 million cubic meters, which led to the creation of cavities with gigantic volumes, respectively 14 trapezoidal rooms totaling about 80,000 square meters. The 14 underground rooms have an opening of 10 meters to the ceiling, 32 meters wide at the bottom, and the height is 54 meters. The depth of the salt mine is 208 meters. The impressive dimensions granted it the title of the largest salt mine in Europe.

The drive was as advertised but felt long. The highlight of the drive was getting to know our guide who was a charming young mother of two (10 and 5) who told us about Romanian history and the change from communist days to present. She also told us a little of her daily life when she wasn't guiding tours. We had a lovely lunch at the Casino on the edge of the Black Sea and visited an interesting Constanta museum.

We really enjoyed learning about the history of communism in Romania on this walking tour with Elena. The pacing and itinerary was excellent and she spoke loudly and clearly so that everyone in the group could understand. Highly recommend this tour if you're in Bucharest.

A good day trip from Bucharest to Brasov and the two Castles. Otilia is a great host, friendly, and knowledgeable. Narcis is a good driver navigating the twisty roads. Coach is comfortable which is just as well for the 14 hour day trip. Late lunch in the main square of Brasov old town was good. For non-castle ticket holders, you can wonder around the Peles Castle grounds for a while. Very limited access to Bran Castle grounds without a ticket. The viewpoint from across the road by the Bran Cross was closed. Good pre-pick up information.

A Perfect Day in Transylvania with Alex

We had a wonderful day touring Bran Castle, Brașov, and the Liberty Bear Refuge. Our guide, Alex, was excellent—knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive throughout the day. We had plenty of time at each location and never felt rushed, which made the experience very enjoyable. A special thank-you to Alex for going the extra mile and taking us to Peleș Castle as well, even though it wasn’t included in the tour. That was a fantastic unexpected addition and really made the day even more memorable. Highly recommend this tour, especially with Alex as your guide!

Romania already has enough creepy history and spooky legends to keep you looking over your shoulder, but this tour brought all of it to life. 👻🇷🇴 Katy was an AMAZING storyteller — smart, knowledgeable, hilarious, and somehow made every story feel like we were actually there when it happened. You can tell she genuinely knows her stuff and knows exactly how to keep a group entertained. And whoever arranged the rain, perfectly timed flickering streetlights, and overall haunted Bucharest atmosphere deserves a raise. 😂 Clearly paid actors. 10/10 production value. If you’re visiting Bucharest and want something different from the typical sightseeing tour, DO THIS ONE. You’ll learn a ton about Romania’s darker, weirder history, laugh along the way, and possibly spend the rest of the night questioning every shadow you see. Absolutely worth it. 👻🖤 Would 100% recommend — especially if Katy is your guide!

A safe, reliable, easy option for getting to and from the airport in Bucharest.

I booked cars from and to the airport at either end of my trip to Bucharest. The drivers were early both times, and got me safely to and from my hotel. It was such a comfort to not have to worry about finding a train or arranging an Uber, especially for my early morning flight out of Romania. I highly recommend this service!

Great intro to Bucharest

Had a 4 hour city tour with Toni interspersed between walking & being driven. Toni was an excellent guide & we ticked off all the key sights we wanted to visit. Especially enjoyed Revolution Square & understanding the detail around the overthrow of the communist government. Highly recommend this tour.
