Walking tour from Patriarchal Cathedral to Revolution square tracked communism from the start to revolution in Bucharest. Tour guide, Silvia, was very passionate about sharing this information. She had historical photos and lots of information to help us understand the historical and lingering impacts of communism.

Fun and interesting tour to learn more about Romania in the time of communism and how the revolution unfolded.

An absolutely fantastic walking tour during which we learned a great deal about the history of communism, and the re-emergence from communism, in Romania. Our guide, Andreea, was not only knowledgeable and well- spoken, but she clearly has a passion for the subject. She imparted knowledge while also imbuing her audience with her enthusiasm for learning about this particular time period in Romania. Highly recommend this tour, which met at the front entrance to the Patriarchal Cathedral itself, which is contained in a large estate at the end of an uphill walk along a road on the grounds of the estate.

Very, very interesting. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly and very well prepared. I highly recommend this tour. It brings to light, the experiences of the Romanian people under Communism and it leaves you with a heartfelt appreciation for the people who lived through the challenging Communist era.

This was an interesting and very well informed walking tour through the experience of Bucharest citizens through the communist era. Despite having visited the city before we learned much and enjoyed the guide, Mihai’s style.

This was a wonderful experience and Andrea was very knowledgable of the history of Bucharest, the buildings, and the effect that communism had on the population of Bucharest.
We felt we knew a lot more of the history of Bucharest and the struggles they experienced than we did before we did this tour.

Another excellent and informative walking tour around Bucharest. Our guide Octavian took us round the city and pointed out the parts that demonstrated what life had been like under Communism, mainly under Ceasescu. It was hugely informative and built on my understanding of Bucharest from doing the walking tour of the Old Town a couple of days before. Octavian was able to convey memories of his childhood growing up under communism and relate the history to us from a Romanian perspective. It was an interesting and passionate tour and definitely worth it.

Had a great experience and tour with Andreea . very in-depth and even gave examples of personal experiences . Weather was terrible but cannot be controlled however Andreea made it worth being out in the rain . She was great and would do the tour again and to gain more insight from Andreeas history and experiences of Communism .

Highly recommend. Andreea is a terrific guide. She is very knowledgeable and also very upbeat and friendly. We especially appreciated the stories she shared about her family’s experiences under communism. Our weather was not the best- cold and rainy- but we enjoyed the tour so much we didn’t mind, and Andreea did a great job getting us out of the rain when she could.

We had a great 3+ hour tour with our guide, Oktavian. Even though it was freezing cold and rainy, we enjoyed every minute as everything was so interesting. Oktavian shared real stories and insights into Romanian politics and history, which are recent enough that we actually remember hearing about much of it growing up.
My husband loves history, and Oktavian filled in several knowledge gaps with lesser-known facts and details that came from Oktavian's thorough research. As a result, my husband said that the true stories aren't always found in the books.
Oktavian also shared personal memories from the tougher years of communist Romania, including rationing, which made the experience resonate even more.
We stopped halfway at a coffee shop to get warm, and re-energize, which was a very welcome break!
Oktavian is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, and always made sure we were comfortable and following along. All in all, we learned a lot and truly enjoyed the tour!

Thank you Octavian for an extremely informative tour. There is a lot of history and information but Octavian did a really great job to summarise it and encouraged asking questions.

This is a great tour. Super well organized. Daniela was our hide. She explained the history very well, with the right level of detail as well as the big picture points, connecting the past with relevant current events whenever needed. The description of life under communism was very well balanced. There is a snack and coffee and restroom break half way through. Highly recommend!
Elinor_W, Dec 2025

Incredible detail showing the impact of communism on everything from food to architecture. Detailed storytelling on how it came to be and what happened in the aftermath of the revolution. Worth every penny!

Brilliant tour! Daniela was incredibly informative and passionate about sharing the stories of the people of Romania — a place where so much is still to be discovered and revealed. The architecture, food, and everyday lives of people, the power structures and their effects — all were presented through fascinating and gripping storytelling with some photos. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bucharest. I now see the city with entirely new meaning.
The gorgeous weather was very helpful too, so we can all enjoy the walks and the sunrays on us while learning from Daniela.
