Great tour, Arrate was amazing guide

We had the best time. Super well organized, our guide Arrate was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly and lovely, going above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable on the day. The tour covers three great winery stops, each with something different to offer. We were so happy we extended our stay to be able to do this tour. Arrate told us so much about wines and the region, we are already using that information to purchase Rioja bottles now!

Beautiful but not for inactive travelers.

Travelers need to know how physically demanding this experience is. It’s much more than the 421 steps up and down the hill of the dragonstone. There is a very demanding 3 mile walk to and from the steps, the way back is a very steep trail. Must be physically fit for this.

Our driver and guide Olaia was lively, knowledgeable and interesting and drove us to the Rioja Lavesa wine region ( from Bilbao). We visited 3 wineries. The first included a tour of the 15th century hand hewn cellars below the building. The wines of all 3 bodegas visited was of the highest quality and on the way back Olaia took us to the walled town of LaGuardia for some pinxtos. It was a long day starting at 8:30am and she dropped us back at our hotel 8 hours later. Overall a great experience

An incredible and unforgettable experience!

The best food tour we’ve ever been on! As we visited in early March during the off-season, we were lucky enough to end up on an unplanned private pintxos tour. Kara was an incredible guide - so knowledgeable not only about the food and drinks we were trying, but also about the Basque Country, its rich history, culture, and language. She thoughtfully took our dietary preferences into account when ordering the pintxos, choosing dishes that suited both of us perfectly while still encouraging us to try exciting new things. Every stop felt carefully chosen, and the experience felt incredibly personal. We learned so much throughout the tour, from the traditions behind pintxos to the stories of the old town and the Basque culture. It truly was such a special and personalised experience. It was a pleasure to meet Kara, and we’re so grateful for such a wonderful evening that we’ll never forget. This tour genuinely made our holiday!

Exceptional!

We really enjoyed our time with Gonzalo for this tour! He is very conscious of the service he’s providing and wants to deliver a great experience. He speaks English fluently, asked about any allergies/food preference, and is very knowledgeable having lived in or near Bilbao all of his life. He is extremely qualified with a masters degree in gastronomic tourism, so that, paired with his great taste, results in a tour of pintxos and drinks from the best bars in town that feels conversationally educating. We were only in Bilbao for the day so this was a great way to experience the gastronomic side of the city with a limited amount of time. As a plus, he was kind enough to send a list of recommendations for where we were staying (San Sebastian) so we could continue to experience amazing restaurants we wouldn’t had otherwise known about. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic and pleasant experience. Just a reminder to wear comfy shoes as it is a walking tour with intermittent stops throughout. Asier is amazing!

We walked around Casco Viejo and saw all the great sights. But the best part was learning about Basque history and culture. I read a lot on Basque and Spanish history in advance, so was able to bring all my questions to Asier. He shared so much context and perspective. It made the rest of my time in the Basque Country that much better. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic tour and great guide

A really fantastic tour. It was so much more than I expected. The guide was real, very authentic, honest and enthusiastic. I felt the sights he took us to were not just the ones on the checklist but ones that provided insight into San Sebastián. Even the restaurant he took us to for lunch was less of a tourist trap, more of a local destination. He also went above and beyond to take us to a must see sight in Bilbao on the way back. Well worth the money.

Great Rioja wine experience

Excellent experience, highly reccommend. Our guide Edwardo was very informative and the tours and tastings at the two wineries were very in depth. Depending upon the wineries visited there may be steep and uneven steps down into a very old cave. Late lunch was welcome and a delicious sampling of regional dishes.

Best Cruise Excursion Ever!

Mikel was absolutely amazing. He was super personable and interesting in his explanation of the food preparation and ingredients with useful tips. The final products of all the courses were award winning quality food. This experience was one of our best cruise ship excursions we've ever had and we can't recommend it enough!

My friend also enjoyed...

My friend also enjoyed the tour, however we were disappointed that the meeting spot was not per the information we received. There was a couple on our same tour who received the same info about the meeting spot. The guide was told a different spot, so we lost 15 minutes or so of our tour trying to find each other; this was disappointing. The guide, Pilar was excellent and apologized for the mixup which was clearly the company's fault, not the guide's. I rated the tour 5 stars because of Pilar, and didn't want to punish her for the company's error. In the future, we hope the information of meeting spot will be clearer for the guide and the guests.
