Love at first sight!
We LOVED Meteora and can’t wait to return! Both of our drivers were experts and our tour guide was fun, knowledgeable and shared so much great history. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes because it is a challenging environment but all worth it. The rest areas had good food options and restrooms were clean.

Meteora is definitely...
Meteora is definitely worth the visit. The bus ride was comfortable. I gave it four stars because the “brunch” on the way to meteora was subpar. They bring you back to the same restaurant for dinner. The lunch was not that great either.
Best driver and informative guide. We learned lot of history and enjoyed the experience.

Great experience.
It was a great experience to learn about the Meteora monasteries, how they were built, the sceneries and the whole experience.

Magical sceneries
Meteora is a stunning site. You should consider allocating two days for the visit. You can do it in one if you are willing to get up early, return late and spend 8 hrs in a bus.

A day in Meteora with Thanos
We had a beautiful morning seeing the Meteora area and monasteries with our guide Thanos. He explained all of the history and significance of each monastery. We had stops for photos throughout the area, and he navigated the crowds and traffic with ease. I am so glad we booked this tour as we only had a short time in Kalambaka and felt we didn’t miss anything. Thanos gave us excellent recommendations for lunch and halva after the tour.

Meteora tour
The tour was a long one but worth every min of it. The breakfast and dinner restaurant was very good. Meteora is defintely one of a kind and it is better to visit in person. High recommended the tour.

Great trip to Meteora....
Great trip to Meteora. Riki was an amazing tour guide and provided the history of the town and how the Monasteries were built. You'll also get an audio guide while the bus takes you to the next site. It's a four an half trip with a break each way. I recommend grabbing a snack since you'll have lunch as soon as you arrive. You so at the same rest stop for dinner.

Worth it!
Even though the bus ride to and from were long, this turned out to be an outstanding trip. We had pleasant weather and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the impressive rock formations and visiting 3 of the monasteries built among the rocks . Our guide at Meteora, Maria was so informed and we loved her dry sense of humor. Breaks every 2 hours to get a bite of food, use the restroom and stretch our legs was appreciated. We would definitely recommend this tour to others despite the long bus ride.

Great Experience!
The experience to Meteora was nothing short of spectacular. Elena was our tour guide and she was spectacular. She was also incredibly knowledgeable about everything from Thessaloniki and Meteora to the stops in-between. She had answers about everything! I would definitely recommend this scenic and thrilling excursion.

Coolest experience ever!
10/10 experience. The your guide and driver were so knowledgeable and took us to the most perfect monasteries and viewpoints of meteora. Very safe and comfortable, once in a lifetime opportunity!

Overall good tour
Overall this is a well organized tour. However, the tour specified 5 hour comprehensive tour in Meteora and we only had 4 . The tour also said a free panoramic map was included however I had to ask for the map and did not see the tour guide give everyone a map. Also I don’t like the fact that for 5 hours from Athens to Meteora , we only go with a driver and no tour guide and on the way back the same. We did have a tour guide once we arrived to Meteora and Clement was really good.

When to visit

Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and water, and prepare to walk---all but one of the monasteries is reached by steep steps.
Visitors to the monasteries must have their shoulders and knees covered, and wraps are provided at the entrance.
The best options for restaurants and cafés are in Kalampaka, so bring a packed lunch if you plan to spend the day.
Be sure to check the opening days and times of the monasteries in advance, as they vary.
Plan to visit two or three monasteries on a day tour---to visit all six, you will need a 2-day tour.
St. Stephen's Monastery (Agios Stephanos) is the only wheelchair-accessible monastery.
