Love at first sight!
We LOVED Meteora and can’t wait to return! Both of our drivers were experts and our tour guide was fun, knowledgeable and shared so much great history. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes because it is a challenging environment but all worth it. The rest areas had good food options and restrooms were clean.

Meteora is definitely...
Meteora is definitely worth the visit. The bus ride was comfortable. I gave it four stars because the “brunch” on the way to meteora was subpar. They bring you back to the same restaurant for dinner. The lunch was not that great either. Best driver and informative guide. We learned lot of history and enjoyed the experience.

Great experience.
It was a great experience to learn about the Meteora monasteries, how they were built, the sceneries and the whole experience.

Magical sceneries
Meteora is a stunning site. You should consider allocating two days for the visit. You can do it in one if you are willing to get up early, return late and spend 8 hrs in a bus.

Meteora byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks, Greece
  • Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and water, and prepare to walk---all but one of the monasteries is reached by steep steps.

  • Visitors to the monasteries must have their shoulders and knees covered, and wraps are provided at the entrance.

  • The best options for restaurants and cafés are in Kalampaka, so bring a packed lunch if you plan to spend the day.

  • Be sure to check the opening days and times of the monasteries in advance, as they vary.

  • Plan to visit two or three monasteries on a day tour---to visit all six, you will need a 2-day tour.

  • St. Stephen's Monastery (Agios Stephanos) is the only wheelchair-accessible monastery.
