Our tour from our ship to the monasteries of meteora was excellent. Costis our driver and our guide was at the ship before we disembarked. He took us to three monasteries and would have added more if we wanted to but we had seen enough. They are wonderful and amazing; highly recommend. He made sure we were able to efficiently see all we wanted. He added a few ‘secret’ sites. It is well worth the extra cost of a private tour. Highly recommend this tour and guide.

Demetrius picked us up at the port….he was on time but we were confused…he was patient and we all made connections. Two of us (old and not eager to climb) asked to be dropped off at the village square to drink coffee and admire the view.). Two of us climbed and enjoyed Meteora. My son said “ the photos are spectacular, but they do NOT do the site justice! “. It was amazing and we were all glad to have seen and done what we could. The private tour let us control how much we needed to do and was well worth the extra expense. Thank you, Demetrius!

Private tour gives access to many more photo ops and unique locations that the big bus tours do not get to. Our guide Costas was well informed of the area and kept us entertained for the journey to and from Meteora from our cruise ship. He was on time, polite and happy to answer all of our endless questions. Ask him to take you to the bakery outside of Volos. The treats are out of this world.

Great experience for the family and it was fully customizable for our reduced timeline. The monasteries were amazing to see, and we felt like we were able to do so much in such a short period. The recommended location for lunch was fantastic!

Nikos took us to several of the monasteries, explaining which ones will give us what kind of experiences. He was very knowledgeable about the different monasteries of Meteora and the best photo opportunities in the surrounding area, providing excellent guidance throughout the day. He also carefully chose our route so as to miss the worst heat of the day. We had so much fun comparing Greece with the US. Many funny customs on both sides. On top of that, Nikos gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants to try and places to visit during the remainder of our stay in Volos.
I highly recommend this tour, and Nikos as your guide!!

We had an excellent private tour, which was customizable to accommodate our large party including children and seniors. We had a great time seeing two stunning monasteries, stopped for a wonderful local lunch and learned a lot about the history and the region. Highly recommend!

We had a great private tour from Volos to Meteora, well worth the 2-hour drive each way. Even our teenage girls loved it. Our group of 5 rode in a comfortable Mercedes van, and our driver was friendly and informative.
We visited 3 monasteries and saw all 6 from different viewpoints, plus an abandoned monastery and some hermit caves. He also took us to a nice taverna for lunch, away from the tourist crowds.
Note: the driver doesn’t go inside the monasteries with you, but gives context ahead of time. Highly recommend this tour if you’re arriving in Volos by cruise ship.

It was more than 2 hours drive to Meteora and Avery boring drive at that. Our “guide” was strictly a driver and although there was plenty of time for commentary he shared very little about the history of the area geologically or the history of the monasteries. He also just dropped us off at the monasteries (2) but there wasn’t guidance or insight into what we were experiencing. Folks I the back seat couldn’t hear him at all. Our friends said he commented we were taking too long but he didn’t give us any timeframes.

Regarding the travel time to Meteora: our tour description clearly notes that the drive from Volos is approximately 100 minutes. Our records show that the vehicle departed just a few minutes before other groups and arrived slightly earlier. All groups were between 95 and 110 minutes. A travel time exceeding two hours would not align with the actual distance or the pace maintained by our experienced driver, who fully complies with road safety regulations.
As for the role of the driver: our listings and tour descriptions clearly state that a licensed guide is not included in the tour, and this is also noted under "exclusions." Our driver is a fluent English speaker, with a university degree and a strong reputation in our local community for professionalism and politeness. While he is always happy to share insights about the area, his primary responsibility is to provide a safe and comfortable journey.
We understand from your message that there was an unexpected change in your group size, reducing it from six to four people. You requested a partial refund, and we were more than willing to accommodate that request.
Our driver was waiting for your group at the port, clearly identified with a sign bearing your name. He offered refreshments and assisted you as you entered the vehicle. Despite sensing some tension, possibly related to your group’s earlier incident (which we were only informed about briefly), he remained polite and attentive. After several attempts to engage in conversation were met with little response, he chose to respect what he interpreted as a need for quiet and space. (During that time he provided some useful information regarding Meteora)
During the visit to Meteora, he provided assistance, made several scenic stops, and even climbed the monastery steps to help when your group encountered some confusion. This level of care is not common in non-guided tours, and we were glad to see some positive interactions, including a warm thank-you and even a hug offered by a member of your group. He even took you to a "hidden area" never visited by big buses or groups. By the end of the tour he also offered you pastries , made and exported outside of Greece by his family, but you declined.
Finally, regarding your schedule: you arrived back in Volos earlier than some other guests, despite stopping for lunch. We did not impose a strict timetable, as cruise schedules typically allow ample time for return, and there was no indication of any delay on your part.
We do regret that the unfortunate situation with one of your group members may have affected the overall experience. We strive to provide every guest with a smooth, enjoyable journey, and we’re sorry this tour didn't meet your expectations. However, we also wish to clarify that our team acted with professionalism, care, and in line with all advertised details.
We feel like you never read our tour description. But you were seen to give a big hug to the driver, smile, and thank him several times during the tour.

This was an amazing tour!Our guides were so knowlegable and willing to adjust the itinerary to our wishes. We could pick which monasteries to visit and for how long. This was so perfect for us. Additionally, because we were a small group we could visit a monastery that the tour buses cannot access. We stopped at a nice taverna for lunch with no crowds and excellent food. We learned so much about this beatiful area on our tour. I highly recomend this tour when you visit Volos.

Tour to Meteora with Nikos exceeded our expectations. We were a group of 4, some with limited mobility. He understood our needs and made every effort for us to enjoy as much as possible. He took us to the most accessible monastery and the best picture spots. Do not hesitate to book this tour even if you feel that Meteora is too physically demanding.

My family of 4 Adults just finished a wonderful day trip to Meteora Monasteries with our Private Driver Costis. Costis EXCEEDED our expectations. He arrived on-time, in a clean comfortable Mercedes Van, arrived ahead of tour buses, gave us excellent insights, very pleasant personality and made a most delicious recommendation for lunch!!! AND .... he showed us a couple of hidden sights that tour buses could not reach!!!! How great is that?!?!? Costis is one of Greece's many National Treasures and I would highly recommend him to future customers looking for a top notch excursion.

Our driver was very knowledgeable on the Meterora area. He took us to all the places we wanted to see including the caves. The day was all about what we wanted to do. We ate lunch at a great restaurant with excellent food and views. Highly recommend!
