The Meteora trip was very interesting. Our driver was very friendly, knowledgeable. On our way to Meteora, he explained a lot of historical facts about the area and ancient Greece.

Great experience.
It was a great experience to learn about the Meteora monasteries, how they were built, the sceneries and the whole experience.

A day in Meteora with Thanos
We had a beautiful morning seeing the Meteora area and monasteries with our guide Thanos. He explained all of the history and significance of each monastery. We had stops for photos throughout the area, and he navigated the crowds and traffic with ease. I am so glad we booked this tour as we only had a short time in Kalambaka and felt we didn’t miss anything. Thanos gave us excellent recommendations for lunch and halva after the tour.

Great Experience!
The experience to Meteora was nothing short of spectacular. Elena was our tour guide and she was spectacular. She was also incredibly knowledgeable about everything from Thessaloniki and Meteora to the stops in-between. She had answers about everything! I would definitely recommend this scenic and thrilling excursion.

Meteora byzantine monasteries perched on top of steep rocks, Greece
  • Wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and water, and prepare to walk---all but one of the monasteries is reached by steep steps.

  • Visitors to the monasteries must have their shoulders and knees covered, and wraps are provided at the entrance.

  • The best options for restaurants and cafés are in Kalampaka, so bring a packed lunch if you plan to spend the day.

  • Be sure to check the opening days and times of the monasteries in advance, as they vary.

  • Plan to visit two or three monasteries on a day tour---to visit all six, you will need a 2-day tour.

  • St. Stephen's Monastery (Agios Stephanos) is the only wheelchair-accessible monastery.
