Itinerary
Meet your guide at the bike rental store in Versailles. After picking up your bike a short distance from the Palace of Versailles, continue to a nearby village market to purchase baguettes, cheese, ham, wine and whatever else you’d like to feast on (own expense) for your picnic later on in the day.
The gardens and forests of Versailles span 1,976 acres (800 hectares), and are crisscrossed by a network of picturesque trails and tree-lined paths. Follow your guide and leave behind the pedestrians as you explore parts of the grounds that few venture out to, including Marie Antoinette's country-style hamlet the Petit Trianon, and the Grand Trianon.
Arrive at a lovely secluded section of the Grand Canal that only those on bicycles can reach easily, and settle in for your picnic lunch. Get a kick out of the fact that you are sitting on the same spot where Louis XIV, XV, and XVI enjoyed their meals when they wished to admire their spectacular palace from the outside.
Then, cycle back toward the palace and spend time inside. Learn about the lives of the French monarchy before their removal from power by the 1789 Revolution. See the King's State Apartments and Chapel, and walk through the unforgettable Hall of Mirrors, where the treaty ending WWI was signed.

Annie was great! Nice spin on historical info making the facts fun. Wish we’d known how much walking, that would be helpful. Great to see parts of Versailles we’ve never seen before!

Lots of fun and very interesting guide, Jen- Francois made this cycling trip so enjoyable- the bikes, the market, the Versailles ambience at its best.

This was a lovely way to see the grounds of Versailles and the surrounding town. Our tour guide Nick was amazing, helpful and also very knowledgable. My one note is that this does involve a lot of physical activity, so people on our tour who were not as used to that had some trouble.
Gerald_M, Jun 2026
Annie did a lovely job of sharing the history of Versailles with our group. E-biking through the gardens is the best way to see them - and it was fun! 😊 (The cheaper choice of 3 speed bikes were ridden by other tour members. An e-bike wasn’t necessary but was a great way to try one out.) The tour starts with the group purchasing food for our picnic. We bought a sandwich and salad at a bakery and drinks at a market near by. The short ride through the streets was easily navigable with Annie’s leadership. The visit to the palace after our ride was tough in 95 degree heat (no a/c) amongst the thousands of other tourists. Only visited the red zone (bedrooms) but saw wonderful furnishings and decor. Highly recommend!

I have been to Versailles before but never saw a quarter of what we saw on this tour. Well worth it.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! Versailles has so much more to offer beyond the palace itself, and we love that the tour helped you discover a whole new side of it. We hope to see you again on your next adventure!

Our guide was amazing! She was knowledgeable and fun. She genuinely was interested in getting to know our group and she seemed to really have fun and enjoy what she was doing.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the lovely review! We're so happy to hear your guide made such a great impression — that genuine connection with guests is exactly what makes a tour truly special. We'll make sure she knows how much your group appreciated her! We hope to see you again soon.

I am 70 years old traveling with my 12-year-old granddaughter. We wanted to book something unusual at Versailles. The bike tour of the gardens along with a picnic by the canal and ending up with a quick tour through Versailles chateau was everything we could hope for at a wonderful price. You get to to pick up your food in the market square before you go to your bicycles and the guide stayed with us until he dropped us at the chateau Gates for the Versailles tour. Bikes were easy to use with gears and mostly flat terrain. With the bike tour we got to easily traverse from garden to garden and the guide and wonderful history as well as antidotes to tell us at each stop. I highly recommend.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
What a wonderful review — thank you so much! It means the world to us that you and your granddaughter had such a memorable day together. You've described the tour perfectly: the market, the picnic by the canal, the gardens, and the château all in one day really is a special experience. We're so glad the bikes were manageable and the terrain worked well for you both. We hope this is the first of many adventures together, and we'd love to welcome you back anytime!

Before our trip to Paris even began, we were so looking forward to this experience in particular as a romantic, fun, and unique way to explore the grounds of Versailles. Unfortunately, this tour did not come close to living up to our expectations.
From the start, it was disjointed and unorganized - we didn’t even make it into the grounds until almost 11am after starting the tour at 9am. The bikes were used to go (very minimally) from point A to point B, but then we had to essentially fast walk through the different areas and ended up doing more walking than biking throughout the tour at least 2:1.
The only reason for the 2 stars and not 1 is that Vlad was very kind and funny and truly tried to take care of our group. But in the end we were all exhausted, and felt like we could have seen more of the grounds in 1/2 the time (and with way less stress).
In current state, would not recommend. Needs a good bit of work and streamlining in order to be enjoyable. Frustrating.

Here's a reply:
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, and we're truly sorry the experience fell short of what you were looking forward to. A romantic day out at Versailles is exactly what this tour should deliver, and we understand how disappointing it must have been when it didn't live up to that. The timing and flow issues you've described are important for us to hear, and we're taking your comments seriously as we look at how we can improve the experience. We're glad Vlad's warmth came through even on a difficult day — but we know that alone isn't enough. We'd love the opportunity to make this right and invite you to reach out to us directly. Thank you again for the honest feedback.

It was a great educational experience on many levels. Dave was prepared with historical data as well as local information to make an extremely pleasurable day!

Fantastic! Our tour guide, Nick, was not only a wealth of information and knowledge but very entertaining. We had a lovely time on the bike tour and getting the opportunity to check out the markets in the village before our trip was an unexpected surprise. By the time we were done with the bike part, we almost forgot we still had to tour the castle. It was just so much fun . I cannot recommend this enough. I would absolutely do this again.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for such a glowing review! We love hearing that the market visit was a happy surprise — it really does set the tone for the day. Nick is a fantastic guide and we're so glad his energy and knowledge made the whole experience so enjoyable. We hope to welcome you back for another perfect day out soon!

Rory was a great guide and we got to see a lot of the gardens and out buildings which were very interesting. Rory explained the history in very plain easy to remember terms which was great. Fun to ride the bikes through the trails of the grounds.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the great review! We're so glad Rory made the history feel accessible and easy to take in — that's exactly the experience we want every guest to have. Riding through the trails and discovering the gardens and outbuildings really is one of the best ways to explore Versailles. We hope to see you again soon!

Erik was wonderful. Very well spoken and knowledgeable. My kids (6, 12, and 12) all loved him and wanted to follow him around everywhere. The whole day was lovely and well timed (despite the rain, but we didn't care one bit).
Response from Host, Jun 2026

I can't say enough good things about this tour, especially our guide, Nick. He is extremely knowlegable and engaging. He brought the stories to life in a way that was fun and educational.
From start to finish, the entire staff was kind, professional, and incredibly helpful. Everything was well organized, making for a smooth and enjoyable day. Despite the weather factors out of our control, we were able to make the best of it, and the time flew by. I would absolutely book another tour with this company.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Nick truly has a gift for bringing history to life and we're thrilled he made such an impression. We're also glad the whole team's organization and care came through on the day — even with the weather doing its own thing! We can't wait to welcome you back for your next adventure with us.

This was a very informational and beautiful tour. Vladimir was great. The length of the tour was a bit long for my 10 and 13 year old, but overall, we loved it. The bike riding was very enjoyable and being able to enjoy at picnic with food selected at the local market was a fun experience.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the lovely review! We're so glad the family had a great time and that Vladimir made the day informative and enjoyable. The market picnic really is a special touch — great to hear it was a highlight! We appreciate the honest note about the length for younger kids and will keep that in mind. We hope to welcome your family back again soon!
Ron_D, Jun 2026
The tour itself, and Vladimir were 5 star. Information given clearly and entertainingly. The loss of a star was, perhaps, my fault. We thought it was a bike tour, but we walked a LOT, my wife has trouble walking and it caused her quite some discomfort, Until we got back on the bike.just be aware of the walking aspect. If that's not a problem for you, then this might be for you.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the kind words about Vladimir and the tour — we're so glad he made the experience informative and entertaining! We're also really sorry to hear the walking aspect caused your wife discomfort. You're not alone in flagging this and it's a genuinely important point for guests with mobility considerations to know upfront. We'll take this as a reminder to make the walking portions clearer in our tour description so future guests can plan accordingly. We hope your wife has fully recovered and that the parts you did enjoy made for some wonderful memories of Versailles!
Kristin_T, Jun 2026
Vlad was an fun and engaging host! This day at Versailles was one of the highlights of our trip. You're able to see so much more than possible by walking around the grounds. We had a great time!
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the wonderful review! We're thrilled Versailles was such a highlight of your trip and that Vlad made the day so fun and engaging. You're absolutely right — the bike really does open up a whole different side of the grounds. We hope to welcome you back for another great adventure soon!

We had a wonderful time on our electric bikes riding through the grounds of Versailles with our guide Vlad. Me and my daughter were hesitant to ride the ebikes, but they accommodated us with the smallest bikes they could find and where very patient. He took us to amazing markets to buy our lunch. He was fun and knowledgeable.
Karen_K, May 2026
Nice biking experience to see Versailles given how vast of an area it covers. Could bring your own food if you have food allergies or prefer something other than the local market.
Jenny_M, May 2026
This was fantastic we probably didn’t need the e-bike as it was a quiet ride. If it’s cool dress warm as mostly in the shade. Great day and excellent guide
Response from Host, May 2026
We are so glad you had a fantastic day exploring Versailles! It is definitely a scenic and quiet ride, though we are always happy to offer standard and e-bike options so everyone can choose their preferred comfort level. Thank you for the great feedback and the excellent tip about dressing warmly for the shaded paths—we really appreciate you riding with us!

Very informative and appreciated the education. The grounds were beautiful and would have not been able to see them all on foot.

10/10 - Nick was an exceptional guide from the start! Great recommendations for where to buy our picnic supplies and he shared so many interesting facts about Versailles and French history. Cycling was an excellent way to see more than just the main grounds of the palace.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you so much for the amazing review! 😊
We’re thrilled to hear you had such a great experience with Nick. From the market stop and picnic preparations to the stories about Versailles and French history, it sounds like you truly made the most of the day.

Our Guide Annie was great. She was extremely informative about the history of the grounds. The bike ride was very pleasant and Annie’s recommendations were very good. The picnic was fun a nd the day was the perfect temperature. I wish we actually had done the palace first and then the grounds. The palace was way too crowded and after 6 hours of biking and walking I was exhausted and we ended up walking through as fast as possible. I will make sure to think of the order of the tour next time I book so that I have enough energy for the full tour.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback! 😊
We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed your day with Annie and appreciated her historical knowledge, recommendations, and guidance throughout the tour. It sounds like the beautiful weather, pleasant bike ride, and picnic helped make the experience memorable.
We also completely understand your comments regarding the timing of the palace visit. Versailles can become extremely crowded later in the day, and after an active day of biking and walking, it’s understandable that the final portion felt a bit exhausting. Your perspective is very valuable, and we truly appreciate you sharing it.
Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!
Elizabeth_D, Apr 2026
We did this in 2023 and had a great time! Biking around the grounds of Versailles gave us a chance to see the palace from a rare angle. Our tour guide gave us the history of the palace at different stops. We also ate a picnic lunch on the grounds from what we bought at the market (having had about 30” to wander the food market before the ride, including a little wine shop). Our guide left us to tour the inside on our own. I must say, the inside has gotten so crowded over the past 25 years, with so many people taking selfies, that the interior of the palace has lost its charm and become like Disney World. Stick with the bike ride and picnic and you’ll have a great time!
Response from Host, Apr 2026
hank you for sharing such a detailed review!
We’re so glad to hear you had a great time exploring Versailles by bike—it really does offer a unique perspective of the palace grounds. The market stop and picnic are always a favorite part of the experience, so it’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed that as well.
We also appreciate your honest note about the palace interior. It can definitely get busy, especially during peak times, which is why many guests find the outdoor experience to be the real highlight of the day.
Thanks again for riding with us and for your recommendation—we hope to see you again on another adventure 🚲
Polina_T, Apr 2026
We had an amazing day. Nick was a terrific guide and took care of us start to finish. She helped point us to delicious picnic items during the shopping time and was helpful with dietary preferences. He captivated the whole group during the tour, including my children who were hanging on every word.

Thanks again for riding with us, and we hope to see you again on another adventure 🚲

It's all day, mostly outside. Some biking knowledge is helpful. Even though the biking is relatively flat you should be in good health
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you for your helpful review!
We’re glad you enjoyed exploring Versailles by bike—it really is a great way to experience the palace grounds and gardens, especially with so much time spent outdoors.
You’re absolutely right that a basic level of comfort on a bike and general fitness help make the day even more enjoyable, even with the mostly flat terrain.
Thanks again for riding with us, and we hope to see you on another adventure 🚲
