It was okay. The crowding inside made the experience less enjoyable. The guide seemed knowledgeable but it was not easy to hear even with the earpiece.
So appreciate the history of Versailles, but found the tour booked through Viator given my The Tour Guy to be a disappointment. The overwhelming crowds detracted significantly from the ability to see or enjoy the site. At several points, the crowd shuffled to tightly pass through doorways, packed shoulder to shoulder. Sorry, but found the tour itself to be sophomoric. Much of the information was repeated throughout the tour and the history was mostly superficial. We had a very different experience with The Tour Guy at the Vatican in Rome, where the guide shared her life long love the Vatican with intimate details, observations and enlightening insights. While the guide at Versailles was gracious, lovely, the content just wasn't there. Beyond that, I'm not sure any tour guide could have made up for the extreme overcrowding at 11am on a Tuesday in mid-September, a day when the Louvre in Paris is closed. Perhaps another day and time would circumvent this fundamental flaw.

Phil was an excellent tour guide. He made the tour extremely fun and exciting! The two hours went by quickly.

The woman who actually dud the tour was very knowledgeable and very nice but the “ The Tour Guy” dud a terrible job with logistics leaving ys waiting out in the hit sun for 45 minutes and then wasting another 15 minutes while they bought the tickets and showed people tge bathroom. By the time tour started we were irritated frustrated and annoyed

So much to see and learn about the Palace of Versailles! Our guide Delara from the Tour Guy was impressive and entertaining to tour with. She did a beautiful, educational tour inside the palace and then provided some excellent pointers on touring the gardens! We loved it!

We had a wonderful tour of Versailles with Dmitry. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and able to explain the history of the palace in a clear way, without overwhelming us with dates and facts.
What we particularly enjoyed were the stories behind what we were seeing. Dmitry explained how Versailles was almost completely emptied during and after the French Revolution, with furniture, artworks, and other objects sold or dispersed. He also told us how the palace continues to search for original pieces at auctions and gradually return them to their former rooms, reconstructing the interiors using historical descriptions and other sources.
The tour gave us much more context than we would have gained by simply walking through the palace on our own.
We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to understand Versailles, not just see it.

I booked this tour for me and my 15 year old daughter as I wanted to see the highlights before she got too bored. It was brilliant. Our tour guide was really interesting and the 2hrs flew by. We were given enough time to view the rooms and were free to walk around after the tour, as well as explore the gardens afterwards. I would highly recommend taking this tour. Our tour guide Dimitri was great. It was a large group of about 25 people, which is probably more than I would like on a tour. Dimitri provided great insights throughout the tour. He was very knowledgeable and patient.
Versailles is very crowded, especially in the summer. We had to wait about 30 minutes past our departure time for the entire group to show up, then had to wait about 10-15 minutes to be admitted into the palace, even though guided tours get expedited processing. It would not have been a problem except that I had a very limited amount of time for the tour and I was conscious of the time lost waiting.
Once inside, you have to navigate your way through crowds of people, which is not the tours guide’s fault at all but something to be aware of.
The Gardens of Versailles are enormous. Our tour guide brought us to the gardens, gave us an entry ticket, and explained how to get around, either by rented golf cart or a tram. You could easily spend half a day going through the gardens and the other buildings on the property.
All in all, it is absolutely worth a trip to see this beautiful palace, and I cannot say enough good things about Dimitri!

Wonderful experience with knowledgeable guide. Spent 2 hours in the palace & almost 4 in the gardens & could have spent more time in the gardens. Having a printed map with us at the beginning would have been useful for someone like me that is visual.

This was a horrible experience . We paid 230.00 and did not find our group. Layer they said even though they are inside they can’t let us in so we had to buy tickets again.

Great tour . Informative , not too long , our tour guide Wei was excellent. I would not visit Versailles without a guide as you don’t know what you are looking it. Highly recommend !

We arrived 20 mins late due to train delays due to weather. The tour guide first told us to wait to get us in the next group, so we waited an hour and then they told us that they cannot give us the tickets we paid for or give us a refund or even reschedule for a later date.

To clarify what happened on the day: our staff asked you to wait in case there were any no-shows or missing guests from another group, as we sometimes have limited flexibility to accommodate late arrivals in those situations. This is offered purely as a courtesy when space allows and is never guaranteed, as group sizes and timed entries are strictly controlled.
Unfortunately, in this case, the group was complete and already progressing, so we were not able to add additional guests once the tour had departed. As a result, we were also unable to offer a reschedule or refund in line with the tour’s timing policy.
That said, I understand how the initial expectation of being accommodated, followed by the final outcome, would have been frustrating. Your feedback has been shared with our local team so we can ensure communication in these situations is clearer and more consistent going forward.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and regret that your experience did not meet expectations.
We were supposed to have a 10 am tour. But there were repeated delays (while we stood out in 90+ degree heat) and we didn't actually start until nearly 11:30. Not only did we waste time and stand out in the sun, but the delay caused us to miss a bike tour scheduled for later in the day. Not well organized at all.

Carolina did an incredible job keeping our tour super interesting and focused on all the stories of the Kings and nobility that lived in the palace. This really brought the history to life and made it much more entertaining for us and our kids as we walked through the palace. Afterward, we were admitted into the gardens and rented a golf cart to drive around, which the kids appreciated during the record breaking heat.

I never found my guide boy and as i wrote mant messages they have me intructiins i never for my guidance!! I want a refound out tour was 11:30 and we arrived 11:36 because the train was cancelled we took a Uber and we run as much as we can!!! We explain that tour by text message before the our of our appoitment is ridículos pagina 65 euro for 5 people and arriving 6 min later you can get your tour guide!! I want a refound of course!!!

That after the tour part ends, you will get to explore all of the beautiful gardens (so the total time is more than 2 hours). And that the fountains are only running on Saturday and Sunday—of course that just gives us a reason to go back :)

The meeting point was not at all clear a letter and numbers, meant nothing !! After going to information at the Palace and phone call to tour Guy eventually found meeting point.
If only ticket said meet at statue of Louis 14 at from of Palace it wouldn’t have been so stressful!

We chose the Skip the Line tour and being a vey hot day, it was well worth the price. Our tour guide, Veronica was very pleasant and informative about the Castle and Royals. We enjoyed learning about the history that once we go home we plan to research more about Versailles

Was worth it to go with a guide and learn the history of this amazing place. Extremely knowledgeable and also nice to skip some crowds and use group entrances.
