Itinerary

Venice is hard to say goodbye to–even for the day–but the Dolomites may help you forget about it for a few hours. After meeting your driver–guide, hop in your comfortable minivan and head north through the rustic Northern Italian landscape.

The first stop is the ski resort town of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Take some free time here to go shopping in the chic boutiques, enjoy a coffee and dessert at a cafe or just explore the town before heading to your next stop.

Arrive at Lake Misurina, or the "Pearl of the Dolomites," as it is sometimes called. The lake is especially picturesque with the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the background, three distinctive peaks that tower in the distance, and one of the most well-known mountain groups in the Alps. Drive toward the peaks and stop to get an amazing view.

Later, sit down at a local trattoria for a traditional Dolomite lunch (at own expense) and then take some free time to go on a stroll around the lake. Or, if you'd rather rest your legs, continue relaxing at the restaurant.

Meet up with your driver-guide at the set time and begin your journey back, arriving in Venice in the early evening.

Please note, the itinerary is adapted during the winter months due to lake closures and visits Cortina, Braies Lake, and San Candido.

Our driver Marco was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable and made sure we got to see great scenery throughout our visit to the Dolomites. Highly recommended this tour if you can get Marco as your driver.

Highly recommend

Samuel_K, Apr 2026
Marco was a phenomenal guide, providing entertaining stories about the surrounding area as well as his own life growing up in Italy. The tour itself was well worth the price with amazing views of the dolomites and walking amongst the foothills.

Breath taking

Francesco was an excellent tour guide. He provided us with many amazing sites. Spent time in Cortina and met a USA Paralympic athlete. Stopped for lunch and ate scrumptious gnocchi. Had an hour of free time so we walked around the lake and then took the ski lift to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views and photo opportunities. The Gelato to end the day was fantastic. Many stops on the way to and from Venice. Very accommodating to the needs of all passengers.

When life gives you lemons… make lemon juice!

Unfortunately it was raining and snowing so hard we did not get to see the dolomites… but our tour guide Giovanni was very professional that he improvised our schedule and had us do something meaningful in place of the actual tour. It’s Giovanni’s professionalism, patience, and the fact that he did his best to do the tour until we could no longer proceed safely that still made it worthwhile for me. From my perspective, not having seen the dolomites as planned just gives me a reason to come back next time!

Excellent tour of the Dolomites

Apoor_G, Feb 2026
Excellent private tour for family with Max, who has been doing this for 20+ years, a professional on the road, safety first, efficient, and knows the traffic patterns like clockwork, and kept us on time to be able to enjoy Cortina (during the Olympics), 3 beautiful mountain lakes, and additional stops based on time and our interest and his own vast experience of the mountains. The day is long (8 am to 6 pm) to accommodate all the sites. This is a must do if in Venice, and balances out the congestion of city life and usual city tours with the beauty of the surrounding natural world. The Dolomites are astounding. Traveling through the excellent Italian infrastructure was a gorgeous and safe ride. We were there in mid-February, so the terrain is snow covered, and has its wintery charm (summer and fall will have its own beauty and colors), we lucked out with a crystal sunny day to enjoy the mountain peaks. The stop for lunch at one of the lakes was well-timed. It is at your own cost, just as any other snacks or souvenirs along the way are. We highly recommend this tour to anyone staying 3 or more days in Venice - this is definitely worth one of those days.

The Dolomites and charming Cortina

Adrienne_D, Jan 2026
I truly enjoyed the small-group tour of the Dolomites. Experiencing the majesty of the region with my family was unforgettable. Our driver did an excellent job educating us about the area and chose a wonderful restaurant for lunch. Cortina was absolutely charming, and knowing it will host the 2026 Winter Olympics made the visit even more special.

Fab day in Dolomites

Worth every penny! Our favorite part of the trip! Cortina views are unreal in beauty and elegance! Comfortable reliable transportation!

Watch the weather in the off season.

Geoffrey_K, Nov 2025
We went during off season, and didn't realize it would be so cold, many places closed, and a few of the lakes frozen over. So if you go late in the year, don't expect those promo pictures. That being said, the day we went it was snowing most of the day and everything was covered in a fresh white coat. The stop in Cortina was nice, as we were there just before the Olympics and saw the official clock and the 'rings'. The rest of the trip was shortened as it was cold and most of us were done within 30mins instead of the planned hour. Granted I got some amazing pictures of the lakes and Dolomites, but many times the mountains were hidden in the clouds. Our guide Marco did make up by stopping at three additional sites on the way back to Venice, providing even more scenic photo ops. Overall a good, not great experience in mid-November.

Overpriced

Miriam_R, Oct 2025
We had a one hour stop in Cortina on our own then two hours for lunch in a place where there was hardly anything open. There were no admission fees. We weren't even given a bottle of water yet the charge was way over $400 for the two of us. that was very expensive since it didn't include a boat ride or museum a ski liftor anything else. The main point was we couldn't understand the guide and he couldn't understand us. When we asked the name of the town he was talking about a toll that's one example. very disappointing for the cost and what we experienced.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Client, The inclusions of the tour are clearly specified in the tour literature along with the stops we make. Therefore you were aware prior to buying the tour of what's included / what's not included in the tour rate. Stating it is expensive is not an objective observation as to comply with all the Italian laws for the safety of clients and drivers as well , there are many costs involved and I know these are not all observed by vendors of similar tours. This said , clients have always the choice to choose if the inclusions and rate asked is fine for them. About not understanding and be understood : I know that day you had our driver Carlo that always receives 5* star reviews and that is expert on the dolomites mountains. Therefore I can not comment on this language barrier ( if this comment came for a new driver, be reassured that we would perform our duly investigations ) . Yours sincerely Monica

Beautiful Dolomites!!

Who is the BEST driver (some customers consider him family) in all of Italy…… Francesco!!!

Joshua_A, Oct 2025
This was a small group tour to Dolomite mountains, visiting three little towns and making multiple stops for pictures. The tour itself was a 8/10 rating, but our driver Francesco who was absolutely amazing and so friendly made it a 10/10. Not only did he make extra stops so that we could take pictures, he also took us to a fantastic gelato shop 8/10R (Gelateria Perin) in the small town of Longarone on the way back. Again, cannot say enough good things about Francesco!!! We even had a very rude guest with us who was constantly complaining, and Francesco acted as a perfect professional dealing with this unruly lady. In the small towns in the Dolomites are very German influenced, so it was almost like getting a taste of Austria. Highly recommend

The big dawg visits the big mountains.

Jake_G, Oct 2025
Why can you say about the Dolomites other than absolutely breath taking! If you are in Venice and want to get away from the crowds and the humidity do this tour! You certainly will not regret it! Our tour guide Carlo was amazing and knew all of the best spots for photos and food as well! Amazing!

Best trip ever!!!

Robin_A, Oct 2025
Our driver Francesco made this trip epic!!! Hands down we could not have asked for a better experience. With his professionalism, knowledge of the area, expert driving skills and care he showed us, we could not have asked for a better time. He treated us like family which made for a better experience. His personal touches and stories made the day even better. We could not recommend this tour enough to others. It is worth every penny spent. Having a guided like Francesco provided not only wonderful memories but we're are leaving Italy with our hearts full and a new found friend across the world. The beauty of the Dolomites with the lakes, rivers and surrounding mountain towns will forever be etched in our precious memories. We look forward to returning again. From seeing the monument of Italo Marchiony (the invertor of the ice cream cone), walking barefoot in the grass for some grounding with the most spactacular view, having a delicious lunch at Auronzo did Cadore and walking around the lake, going to the near top of the Dolomites, visiting Cortina or having the world's best Gelato at Gelateria Artigianale Perin. Seriously... This was the best tour of the trip!
