Get picked up from Valencia and head off in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Caves of San Jose. After a scenic drive, you’ll arrive at the caves, with admission included to help you sidestep the long entrance lines and get in quickly.
Once inside, find out about the origins of the cave and discover an underground labyrinth with stalactites and stalagmites aplenty, and a guide to lead the way so you don’t get lost.
The highlight of the trip is an underground riverboat ride inside the caves. You can then finish the trip with a seamless return transfer to the start point in Valencia.

- If you do not leave the information of your favorite pick-up point, we will automatically assign you: Torres de Serranos.
- Being late is not our responsability.
- The duration of the activity (from the collection until we return from the caves) is 4h.
- We will not bathe in the river in this activity.
- Inside the caves there is a constant annual temperature of 20ºC.
- You will have 30 minutes of free time to use bathrooms, bars and shops or just for relaxing at the area.
- You can take your own food/drinks. But is not allowed to eat inside the bus.
- You have included the transportation to go and return (same pick up point)
- If you check out from your hotel, you can take your luggage with you. You must notify us to guarantee space.
- You will be accompanied by an official guide (from Valencia&Go) who will tell you the essential you need to know about Valencia, as well as all the secrets that are hidden inside the Cuevas de San José, its incredible history and curiosities in detail (English and Spanish). Besides, on the boat tour you will go with a guide-boatman who will guide you along the way and will point out some key spots of the natural wonder. (could be in Spanish). If you have any questions, you can always ask the official Valencia & Go guide, he will be willing to answer them when you leave the caves.
- For your safety: you can take photos only in designated areas. To protect the cave fauna, flash photography is not allowed.
- For this regular tour, pickup at Trasmed-Grimaldi, Moll de Ponent, Poblados Marítimos, 46024 Puerto de Valencia is not available, as this meeting point is exclusive to a different product.
- Not recommended for unpuctual people.

The cave was cool, but the bus ride there was absolutely not. It was a ride to hell almost. The so called "ACed bus" barely had any AC, and you just sit there in your own pool of sweat for 45mins - 1 hour each way. Would absolutely not recommend doing this in the hot summer days, unless they can guarantee you a functional AC bus.

The caves are really neat, and are a great escape from the heat and the city. However the bus ride there and back completely ruined the experience for us. The bus was advertised as having AC, but it was either broken or not turned on at all.
We were sweltering. Sweating buckets in the leather seats for the hour long bus ride with no airflow.
The caves tour was too short to justify the ride on the bus from hell. Had it been properly air-conditioned, we might have been able to nap and enjoy our time in the caves more, but instead we all suffered and simply tried to make it through the grueling ride.

The tour itself was wonderful seeing the caves, our guide Jorge was awesome, I didnt give 5 stars because the day was very hot and the ac on the bus seemed to not fully work it was an extremely uncomfortable ride to and from the caves. I would most definitely do the tour again as long as we are given a different bus for transport.

Wonderful way to beat the intense heat! A little under an hour drive north of Valencia. Very well organized. The boat guide did not speak English but was not a big deal. Great for kids and adults alike.

Really beautiful, recommended! The blues of the water are gorgeous and the stalagtites are impressive. A tip, sturdy sandals are fine (no sneakers needed).

The tour starts with a bus ride to the caves and our tour guide, Uriel, explained things as we passed by Valencia and into the outskirts. Once we got to the caves, we had about 25 minutes to take pictures, grab a water or visit the restrooms. Then, we were allowed to go into the caves. It is a boat ride inside the caves and you are not allowed to take pictures until directed to do so. It feels a little chilly in the cave and that was quite nice considering the summer heat outside. Our bus/tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to be on my boat, but be advised that usually, the cave boat guides only speak Spanish and the bus guide does not usually go on the boats. The caves portion was about 40 minutes long and very interesting. The ride was smooth back to Valencia and it was overall a great trip! It was a great way to start our day.

The tour operators were great. We had a good time in the bus; Ferran was very informative and fun. The cave tour is run by a separate company which was very organized. Time in the cave was short but very calming….

The tour guide on the bus spoke English. Our guide on the boat did not so during the tour we had no idea what he was saying.

The caves are worth the trip but be aware they are around an hour from Valencia and the boat and walk through the caves is approximately 50 mins. The company is well organised and text to inform you of changes etc.We enjoyed the journey to and from the caves because it allowed us to see the rural areas.

Cave boat ride was enjoyable but all the artificial lighting made it look fake. Also not allowed to take photos throughout most of the cave. Our boat guide did speak English but we were advised by our tour guide on the way to the caves that some of the boat guides only speak Spanish. Would not have booked tour if we knew that. Worked out ok for us but be advised. 45-50 minute boat ride through cave. Most of the tour is the hour ride each way from Valencia. Van was comfortable and guide did point out some points of interest along the way. Ok tour but expensive and time consuming for a short boat ride that you can’t even take pictures in

Regarding the boat guides, we would like to mention that the activity description indicates that some boat operators may only speak Spanish. We are sorry if this information was missed before booking, although we are glad everything worked out well on the day and that you were able to enjoy the experience.
As for photography, the caves have strict safety regulations, including restrictions on taking pictures in certain areas, helping to protect visitors and preserve the site. These rules are established by the cave management and apply to all visitors.
Finally, the distance between Valencia and the caves, as well as the duration of the excursion, are also detailed in the activity description. Since the caves are located approximately 50 km from Valencia, the transfer time is an important part of the experience and allows visitors to discover one of the most unique natural attractions in the region.

This was a nice way to see Valencia outside of the city and experience the magical feeling inside the San Jose Caves.
Ferran was our English guide and he did a great job explaining things during the journey to the Caves. Our driver also did a good job and we felt safe and comfortable. Devices were provided so you only heard the information in your chosen language.
Everything was well timed and organized. Ferran and his colleague clearly explained the when and where for everything which kept the group moving along nicely.
The Caves and boat ride are truly an experience worth making time for. First time ever for us in any caves and this was the perfect choice.

The caves are well worth a visit, but in my view too far from Valencia to make a sensible trip. 3/4 of the allocated trip time is spent getting to and back from the caves. Maybe extend the trip to a day and do a second activity?

Central pick up details given however exact spot to wait would have been beneficial as its quite a vast area. Tour guide spoke good English, journey about 45-50 minutes depending on traffic, beautiful location with plenty of choices to eat clean toilets and a few gift shops. Boat ride very very interesting but only allowed photos inside the cave when they tell you its ok. Would thoroughly recommend.

The pickup and the bus tour guide, Manuel was excellent. The boat tour guide spoke minimal English and therefore was not good. However, after returning to the bus, Manuel explained everything. Manuel is great.

What a great morning out, our guide met us at the meeting point and the van soon followed. Arriving in the early we had time for a quick coffee before entering the caves and the wait was so worth it. What an amazing place definitely worth your time.

I booked a trip to the San José Caves through Viator for myself and my two boys (ages 4 and 11). The caves themselves were absolutely beautiful and definitely worth seeing — a really unique experience.
Unfortunately, the rest of the tour had major issues.
First, our tour guide did not speak English, even though we specifically booked an English-speaking tour. Because of that, we missed out on important information and history about the caves, which really took away from the experience.
The biggest problem, however, was the return transportation. On the way back, the driver changed all of the drop-off locations without clear communication. We were originally picked up at Ciudad de la Justicia de Valencia, and the booking clearly stated that drop-off would be at the same location.
When I questioned this, the transportation guide told me I was supposed to get off earlier at the City of Arts and Sciences — about a 15-minute walk from the original pickup point.
Even though it was not the location I was picked up from. I asked if he could take me back to the original pickup spot, and he refused, saying it was “not his problem.”
At that point, I was left in an unfamiliar area with two young children, about 1 hour and 30 minutes walk from my cruise port, with a strict boarding time of 7:00 PM. I contacted the tour coordinator for help, and instead of resolving the issue, I was told to take public bus #95 back to the port — which is not what I paid for.
This situation felt unsafe and extremely stressful, especially traveling alone with small children in a foreign country on a time-sensitive schedule. I ended up requesting a full refund and they denied it.
If you’re traveling solo and are comfortable figuring things out on your own, you might be okay. But if you’re traveling with kids, I would strongly advise against booking this tour due to the lack of organization, communication, and safety considerations.

The guide hired by Valencia&Go did speak English; however, not all of the guides/boatmen inside the caves do. Nevertheless, we clarify this in the activity description, and our guide provides you with all the necessary information before entering the caves. Regarding the drop-off point: The confusion arose because instead of “City of Justice,” we mentioned “City of Arts and Sciences.” It is the same area, but we use that name because traffic regulations do not allow us to drop you off at the exact same spot where you were picked up.
We understand the confusion and apologize for it. We have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again so that the experience is completely satisfactory.

The caves are amazing and highly recommended. Our guide Joquim was fantastic. The bus ride was about 45 min, but, was fine as you got to see a bit of the outskirts of Valencia. While there are no photos permitted at the beginning of the boat tour, it makes sense because you need to mind the cave walls and ceiling, you are permitted to take photos later in the tour which is more than enough to capture the beauty of the caves and water. Super amazing! Tip while waiting for entry to the caves which is 45-60 min, the coffee is great and the fresh squeezed Valencian orange juice was the best I’ve ever had. One of first or second stalls on the right as you walk up towards the ticket booth.
