It was fantastic! Our tour guide was very sweet. We were taken to the San Jose Caves and she made sure we got there in time to enjoy some shopping and a cup of coffee and snack before the tour started. It was a relaxing tour in a boat. The inside was beautiful! The water was clear and the lights showed the magnificence of the cave.

Itinerary

Get picked up from Valencia and head off in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Caves of San Jose. After a scenic drive, you’ll arrive at the caves, with admission included to help you sidestep the long entrance lines and get in quickly.

Once inside, find out about the origins of the cave and discover an underground labyrinth with stalactites and stalagmites aplenty, and a guide to lead the way so you don’t get lost.

The highlight of the trip is an underground riverboat ride inside the caves. You can then finish the trip with a seamless return transfer to the start point in Valencia.

  • The schedule is approximated, we will send a WhatsApp message with all the collection details one day before. Please write a correct phone number (if the phone number is invalid, we are not responsible of missing information) in case you don't have Whatsapp the activity provider will send an email through Viator.
  • If you do not leave the information of your favorite pick-up point, we will automatically assign you: Torres de Serranos.
  • Being late is not our responsability.
  • The duration of the activity (from the collection until we return from the caves) is 4h.
  • We will not bathe in the river in this activity.
  • Inside the caves there is a constant annual temperature of 20ºC.
  • You will have 30 minutes of free time to use bathrooms, bars and shops or just for relaxing at the area.
  • You can take your own food/drinks. But is not allowed to eat inside the bus.
  • You have included the transportation to go and return (same pick up point)
  • If you check out from your hotel, you can take your luggage with you. You must notify us to guarantee space.
  • You will be accompanied by an official guide (from Valencia&Go) who will tell you the essential you need to know about Valencia, as well as all the secrets that are hidden inside the Cuevas de San José, its incredible history and curiosities in detail (English and Spanish). Besides, on the boat tour you will go with a guide-boatman who will guide you along the way and will point out some key spots of the natural wonder. (could be in Spanish). If you have any questions, you can always ask the official Valencia & Go guide, he will be willing to answer them when you leave the caves.
  • For your safety: you can take photos only in designated areas. To protect the cave fauna, flash photography is not allowed.
  • For this regular tour, pickup at Trasmed-Grimaldi, Moll de Ponent, Poblados Marítimos, 46024 Puerto de Valencia is not available, as this meeting point is exclusive to a different product.
  • Not recommended for unpuctual people.
  • Not recommended for people with claustrophobia or mold allergies.

Fantastic Cave tour

The caves are amazing and highly recommended. Our guide Joquim was fantastic. The bus ride was about 45 min, but, was fine as you got to see a bit of the outskirts of Valencia. While there are no photos permitted at the beginning of the boat tour, it makes sense because you need to mind the cave walls and ceiling, you are permitted to take photos later in the tour which is more than enough to capture the beauty of the caves and water. Super amazing! Tip while waiting for entry to the caves which is 45-60 min, the coffee is great and the fresh squeezed Valencian orange juice was the best I’ve ever had. One of first or second stalls on the right as you walk up towards the ticket booth.

We signed up for an English tour and only had English on Bus. Once we got on the boat tour thru the cave it was all Spanish so we learned nothing. Very beautiful views, but disappointed in the tour.

There is a small restaurant, a playground for kids, and 2 gift shops at the site of the caves and nothing else. Your cave tour start time is preset, so you may have to wait. If you want to kayak, you have to do the evening tours. The earlier tours are very full boats. Once aboard the boat, you will wait a while for your turn to float through the river. It was not very busy in November, but there was still a wait. The summer must be crazy-busy. There are no photos allowed for most of the trip in the pretty locations. They will sell you a photo at the entrance for 6 euro. The tour guides were great. Joachim made it fun. They will not pick up at the port unless the van is filled with just cruise passengers. You will have to catch the van downtown if there are only a couple of you.

Little to know English on this English speaking tour

This was described as an English speaking tour, but we were disappointed to find that the only English spoken was on the bus ride there. Once at the caves, it is unlikely your boat operator speaks English and the entire tour is narrated by the boat operator. Our tour was less given in Spanish and we understood none of it.

Great Adventure in Nature

Absolutely loved this experience. It was a nice way to spend a peaceful day enjoying nature. Ivan, the tour guide, made everything extra special. I do a lot of tours through Viator and he is the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He lives his job so much and his passion carried through! The Thermal park was nice to experience but the waterfall was the best part.

Cave trip is amazing....

Cave trip is amazing. About 45 minute bus ride with guide talking about sites along the way. Guided boat ride through amazing caves. Very little pictures allowed. Only about two minutes to take pics. Guides do not really speak English, only Spanish. Well worth the money, but the kayak tour would be more exciting next time. They don't tell you, but there are 3 pick up locations, so ask in advance. We were given a pick up location and later found out there was another one directly across the street from our flat, after driving across town.

Activity was quite expensive considering what was included- drive to the caves and back and entry tickets- guide isn’t even on the boats with you! Minimal guiding/ information/ background was given for the tour and it was mostly just viewing of the caves

We were really disappointed with the transportation service. Despite following all the directions and maps provided, the bus never found us. After waiting and trying to sort it out, we ended up having to drive ourselves. If we had known we’d be stuck handling our own transportation, we wouldn’t have paid the extra fee. It felt like a waste of money and added unnecessary stress to our trip

Magical Cave Experience with Excellent Guide

The tour started promptly, and the pickup location (one of three available) was easy to find. Our guide, Manuel, spoke both Spanish and English and kept us engaged throughout the 45-minute journey to the caves. He pointed out landmarks, shared stories about the local agriculture and its origins, and explained the history of nearby towns and sights along the way. Knowing that some of the boatmen/women inside the caves may not speak English, Manuel gave us a very clear explanation on the bus of how the tour would work. He told us what to expect during the boat ride, the timings for when we’d be in the boat and on foot, and when photography was and wasn’t allowed. This was incredibly helpful and made the experience much easier to enjoy. On arrival, there are several cafés and eateries outside the caves, and we had around 20 minutes free before entering to grab a drink or snack. We then met Manuel at the agreed time at the entrance before heading inside for the cave tour itself. The caves are truly magical. The boat ride is beautiful, with fascinating rock formations and atmospheric passages. Some of the spaces are very tight, and there is a real risk of bumping your head if you don’t stay alert. The walking section also involves areas with very low ceilings, which might be challenging for those with back problems or anyone uncomfortable in confined spaces. That said, we personally had no difficulties, and it added to the sense of adventure. Overall, this was a wonderful excursion and one we’d definitely recommend. The caves are a unique experience, and Manuel was a knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive guide who really made the day special.
