Overview

Enjoy an amazing truffle hunting with a professional "Trifolao" and his trained dog near Monforte d' Alba. Breathe pure air in a gorgeous wood and enjoy the intense truffle scent. Meet the hunter and his dogs, who are specially trained to sniff out truffles, you’ll have a good chance of tracking down the elusive fungi. Along the way, learn more about truffles and why they are so rare, and pick up expert tips on how to find them. During the Hunting you will take a brake for a cheese tasting with black truffle scratched on top, the experience ends with a wine tasting.

Meet your expert truffle hunter guide in central Monforte D'alba and start this amazing trip. The journey between the meeting point, the wood and the cellar will take you through the UNESCO vineyards of the Barolo area, discovering beautiful views and unknown roads in order to live an authentic experience. You could have the chance to see the breath taking scene of clouds descending between the hills.

The drive to the small town is worth it to do these two separate activities. The truffle hunting is in the forest- you need a car to drive there. It is also not included in the price so you need 30-40 Euros pp cash to pay at the end and more if you want to buy the truffle you find. It was really interesting. Then you drive back to the wine shop for wine tasting. We took the light lunch option which was definitely worth it as we were starving by then and it was not huge but delicious and definitely enough food. Had a great 3.5 hours , even in the drizzle!

What a great experience! Very experienced truffle hunter and dogs, welcoming and knowledgeable interpreter, wine education and tasting was top notch. We found 8 truffles- were able to purchase one and bri g it back for an amazing dinner tonight. Would highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The truffle hunting was in the woods and boots were provided if desired. It was wonderful to be in the forest and see first hand how truffles are hunted. The dogs found a dozen white truffles. Afterwards the wine tasting was so informative and Marina made it intimate. We sample 6 wines and she even let us sample another before buying. She also provided information about the region and paired cheeses. I would highly recommend this package experience

Definitely something to explore. Very well managed And very fun. Elio And his two dogs are remarkable. Over 60 years of experience. We found both white and black truffles. What a beautiful Way to spend a morning, followed up with an excellent wine tasting and information about the region. This was one of our best experiences

Adventures with Dogs in Italy

Following the dogs and their owner through the woods was magical. This part of Italy is steep and dense. The tree canopy kept us dry from the rain while it held a light fog. Our host had been a truffle hunter for over 60 years! The guide was an excellent translator and we learned so much. Would definitely do this again.

We were in the Emilia Romagna region and we decided at the last minute to visit the Piedmont for a day. The experience of truffle hunting seemed unique, and based on the reviews here, we took a shot at it. It was probably the best experience during our trip -- and that is a lot to say since the other places we had visited had been amazing as well. We had even joked that we may find ourselves in someones backyard with a dog and pony show... but no, we actually went into the woods and saw the dog's ability to find and dig for truffles. Her name is Pina. It's so amazing how she could spot them. The truffle hunter was fully italian and the guide translated as he explained. Both are wonderful people. We then went to a winery to visit and taste three wines. They were all very good. The person making the presentation even recommended a handful of great restaurants to have lunch. My wife and I recommend this trip wholeheartedly.

A must do!! Incredible authentic, experience with Veronica, Elio, and border collies Cuba and Chloe. Hunting for truffles in the Piedmont region, on Elio’s restored by hand private property, cannot get any better. A glorious walk through the forest (anticipate some hilly areas) while learning about the white and black truffle seasons and trivia ended with a fantastic wine tasting and tour at a family owned winery. We were shocked that we actually even found some truffles thanks to these superbly trained adorable hard working dogs and Elio’s years of experience as a true truffle hunter.

This was a once in a lifetime experience! We enjoyed learning about truffles and witnessing the hunt! The guide was very informative and the hunter very friendly along with his two dogs. I would definitely recommend this activity. What I would change is the wine tasting part, I think we could’ve gone to a more authentic italian winery and maybe included lunch with wine pairing.

We loved the truffle hunting. We did hike through the forest but it wasn't too strenuous or dirty (for those afraid of being outdoors without sidewalks). We are in fairly good shape. The English guide (Franchesa) was very informative and answered all our questions. The gentlemen and his dogs were pretty amazing to watch. It was about one hour or so in the woods, then up to a winery nearby for a wine tasting. It was a beautiful winery but it has one employee (the winemaker) and he was not as informative. You had about an hour at the winery touring and tasting four wines. Be sure to read the fine print. You must provide your own transportation as you follow the guide in her car to the two places.

Great Experience! Even although we didn't travel in its main season we were still lucky to find some black & white truffle. The tour guide was excellent and the master of truffles with his 2 amazing dogs were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Not what we thought we had booked. Main scope was wine tasting and selling (should only be optional as per the tour description) instead of truffles hunting. Ok, Silvano greatly explained his business, but the truffles hunting was less than 1.5 hrs. The tasting of delicacies did not happen at all … as long as they did not sell us the wine as the local delicacy … All in all rather disappointing than exciting, and in this case way too expensive. We would not recommend to book this tour if you expect to get what is included in the description.

Regarding the price you had a private English speaking guide, a winemaker and and the truffle hunter at your disposal. I am pretty sure you won't find anything similar for this price in the market. We had a great time with Elio and his dogs finding truffles in the forest, really wonderful experience and we learned a lot! Wine testing was excellent, however a bit too long introduction with Silvano in the winery which was under big renovation. The tour took more than 4 hours instead of the 3 hours planned

Wonderful experience. From the route from Torino to Monforte D’Alba, the reception of the Marina, the interaction with the truffle hunter his adorable wife and the 4 border collies, beautiful and expert. The experience had the feeling that we were at home . We found several white truffles and had the option of negotiating the purchase at fair prices. Then we went back to MONVINO and tasted 3 options of Barolo and Barbaresco. The Marina explained to us how are distributed regions, wineries and was an additional show. At the end even indicated us a place for lunch in the city of Barolo , Barolo Friends ! I'm saying 1000%! Ateh for children!
