Itinerary

Depart from central Tromsø and head to the city’s west coast and along the ocean before continuing on an exploration of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the surrounding area.

Make your first stop at Whale Island, known as the country’s largest, as well as one of its most visually striking. As you continue your Arctic road trip, you’ll pass by incredible scenery, ranging from fjords to mountains, lakes to forests, and the picturesque small villages in between.

As you explore, you’ll also make time to stop for picnic lunch, during which you’ll dig into a tasty homemade meal to help fuel the rest of your road trip. Finish the journey with an included drop-off back in Tromsø.

A Very Special Day in Tromoso!

Our guide Roman was a real gem! He was informative on so many levels! We learned so much in a short time about the Northern Lights because he actually chases them! He too is to a few special Fords on our trip as well as the Local beach! We enjoyed so much the healthy sandwiches and amazing homemade oatmeal cookies that were outstanding! He also took professional fotos for anyone who desired! I highly recommend this tour!

We had a 4 hour private tour with Gerard from Citizen Science in Tromso. Gerard was a fantastic guide and this was a highlight of our trip through Norway. Gerard is very knowledgeable about European history and Norway in particular. He made every effort to make our trip memorable including making a delightful picnic lunch and sharing photos and videos that he took with professional equipment. We would highly recommend this tour with Gerard. It was the perfect half day tour. This cruise we chose to book our own personal tours rather than our ship tours and were extremely happy with that decision. Booking a personal tour ahead of time has proven to be more intimate, flexible and cheaper. We would give Gerard 10 stars!

Spectacular Tromso

This tour was fantastic. We were so looking forward to seeing Tromso and our guide Evgeni was like family proudly showing off his favorite spots. . We were taken to the most spectacular viewing areas. We also had an amazing lunch packed for us which we ate on a local beach. We toured beautiful Tromso for about 5 hours. Our only disappointment was those 5 hours seemed to fly by. We highly recommend The Wandering Owl Team.

Excellent day with Wandering Owl Tour

Excellent way to see the areas outside of the city center, especially with the short time allotted for land tours when traveling by cruise ship. Driver was excellent and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed our picnic lunch in a serene white sand beach setting that looked like it was straight out of the Caribbean, not at all what I ever thought about seeing in Norway! Excellent day and the reindeer siting was a nice bonus!

Great trip. Really enjoyed the views and taking photos. The guide & driver were both very nice and give some fun tidbits about the places history. Food was also nice, light and accommodating. Loved the juice! The mini bus was comfy and drive was smooth.

An incredible tour!

It was an amazing tour! Evgeni drove us to the highlights surrounding Tromsø and the islan of Kvaløya. We got to see beautiful Fjords, take amazing pictures and enjoy an delicious lunch provided by Wandering Owl on a rocky beach with good weather! I would highly recommend this experience in the summer too, one gets to see beautiful scenery and the surrounding nature :) I will be happy to do it again!

What a lovely experience! Ellie, our tour guide, was outstanding and really knowleadgeable, providing us with lots of insights and excellent hospitality on this tour. Had a great time with Ellie. Close encountered reindeers in beach and close to city range. Visited some amazing photo spots. Had picnic lunch in a peaceful beach. Every stops were well thought of. The pickup spot just 2 mins walk from the cruise terminal. We cancelled our cruise inclusive tour to go with this one. It was a good choice, we saw more of the local area outside Tromsø

The most pleasant guide Anthony was the best part. He took us to many beautiful view spots, including a small beach area, and was very knowledgeable. Tour was shorter than planned, partly because we had a young boy in our group who was quite disruptive.

Cozy, Relaxing and Eco-conscious

The small tour was very cozy and relaxing. We had a picnic at a beautiful beach. The tour guide and the driver were so eco-conscious that they provided only reusable utensils including cloth bags for sandwiches. They really cared about the beautiful and pristine sceneries.

Amazing experience

We were lucky to be the only people on the tour so it became an amazing private tour. It became an experience of a life time. Our guide Ellie was so knowledgeable and so friendly. We got the personal touch. The food was great and came in home made cloth bags so no leftover trash. Scenery was spectacular. The photos Ellie took and we got after the tour were fantastic, like taken by a professional photographer. Highly recommend the tour.

Great way to see Tromso nature.

Was a great trip and well worth it. Tommy was great and took us around the island and stopped at some really cool locations. We were just a small group which worked out perfectly. We got quite lucky with the weather as well. Recommended that you bring some rainproof jackets just in case due to the unpredictable Tromso weather.
