Ernest took us on a quiet, relaxed drive near the bay to the Miramar Castle and gardens - ENJOY a cafe !
Then a panoramic drive up to a modern church with stunning views;

Dean was personable, informative giving a wonderful tour of Trieste and its hills. We saw the beautiful Miramere Castle where we also walked it lovely grounds. We were also able to see the Sanctuary of Monte Grisa.

This was a wonderful tour. The castle is beautiful as well as the gardens. Go early as it gets crowded fast. And be prepared to walk a lot. Our guide was wonderful.

What a very nice tour guide, however his ability to answer questions was limited. He provided commentary during the tour and was very attentive to us. He treated us all with respect and helped us as needed. However, when we were in Trieste - actually he didn't tour Trieste at all - I asked him one question and he said he didn't know anything about Trieste because he lived in Slovenia and we should go there and he could give us a good tour. That was very disappointing. If you are going to have someone, give a tour of someplace then that person should know about it.
Also, my ticket said I would be picked up at my hotel, but the email said at a central spot. It was very confusing what was to happen and the customer support I had in reference to this was not good. I am not the only one on this tour that had this complaint.

We had booked this tour after our cruise line changed our itinerary to include a stop in Trieste. The morning of the tour our guide, awesome guy named Matt, said he had another family book a tour of Kopor, Slovenia (just a short 30 minutes away) and his boss asked to combine it. So, Matt talked with all of us, this included me, my wife and 22 year old daughter, and a mom and her two 20’s daughters. He came up with a spontaneous way to create a tour to include most of each. Not what we had planned but turned out to be a lovely adventure that included seeing the castle, an beautiful church on the mountain, and a trip through Slovenia and lunch in a little village in Croatia! Three countries in a day! Matt rocks, and our tour mates we so wonderful! Made for a great day!

In order to accommodate some folks on another excursion, our tour guide opted to change the order of our excursion. We had a delightful morning touring the countryside with a delicious and unplanned seafood lunch. However, we went to the castle in the afternoon and the traffic getting to the castle was horrific; we were unable to visit the castle. Since this was a large part of the excursion, we were very disappointed.

Our guide was so knowledgeable and helpful and understanding. He knew that we were not able to do a walking tour of the castle grounds and arranged a driving tour for us. Will definitely use him when we come back!!

Meri was excellent and really personalized the tour once she knew I was interested in Roman history. The Miramare Castle was definitely worth the tour by itself. I would do this tour again and I really think Meri made it special.
