What a great tour! I thought this was a fantastic way to try out some Taiwanese street food and learn more about Taiwanese culture. Our guide, Cyndi, was so much fun! I went on my own and ended up in a group of about 7 which was perfect. I would 100% recommend this tour and would love to come back with friends!

Alejandra was an amazing food tour guide. Her point of view of being a foreigner (from Colombia) who now lives in Taiwan offered very valuable insights in the life and culture of the Taiwanese people through the food scene in the night market. She took us to a variety of food places, one of which was a Michelin star restaurant, Wang's Broth. The food was delicious and the people in my tour group were engaging, which made it more fun. I highly recommend this food tour, especially my tour guide Alejandra.

Leo is an engaging tour guide. We tasted a wide range of dishes, ranging from yam balls to Doritos to stir-fry to bao to stinky tofu. We visited during the Lunar New Year week, so the market was busier and some stalls were closed; the guides pivoted to make the tour work. We stopped at one restaurant for several courses and some beer, which was a nice interlude. Try everything, and come hungry!

Good tour with lot's of walking. Able to try many food types that normally I wouldn't have known about. Good group and the tour operator was fun, knowledgeable, and engaging.

One of the best food tours I’ve ever been on. Had the best pork braised rice of my life. Super knowledgeable tour guide. Got to try so much stuff 10/10 recommend if you’re visiting Taipei.

10/10! I’ll definitely be re-visiting these places. Julie was very helpful and amazing. She also recommended more night markets to explore.

MUST do tour. Great way to try new foods. Has a good mix of delicious foods - and fun ones to try (that you might not eat again but you have to try while you’re here). Very full by the end of tour. 7-eleven was a highlight. Our guide Cornelia gave us some background on each food & the areas we were in.

The tour felt very unorganized. There didn't seem to be a plan on where or what we would be eating. Having been on other great food tours in Asia this was a disappointment.

The food tour was entertaining. Tammy was engaging, and I especially enjoyed her explanations of the historical origins of certain foods and its culture

This was a great tour and Cornelia was a wonderful guide! She was super generous with her time and her genuine kindness shined through! What a great evening

Our tour guide, Cornelia, shared with us many meaningful historical facts about the food in Taipei and the culture of the old neighborhood where the market is located. We were able to taste at least ten different types of food—from oyster omelets to sweet potato desserts. She was very attentive, explaining all the dishes and their connection to the culture. I didn’t like some of the food, but I loved having the experience of trying them.

The guide was very nice but honestly the market did not serve good tasting food. Also I would not want to go to 711 as part of a tour. I can do that on my own or read about it. I’m sorry for leaving this feedback but it’s rare when Viator has a tour I don’t like. This one is the first one. I left early as I had a flight to catch the next morning but honestly if I felt the food was better tasting I would have stayed.

This tour was a great introduction to the night market and some common street foods. There was a good mix of adventurous food choices and dishes that required less bravery, but our guide Violet was great about respecting guest’s boundaries on what they did and did not want to try. Violet was very kind and sociable and provided us will some fun personal anecdotes in addition to having a robust knowledge about the dishes we were trying. After the tour she even provided an additional few recommendations for other foods to try at the market or elsewhere while we were in Taiwan - I tried one (the peanut ice cream roll) a bit later at the night market and it ended up being incredible!
I went on this tour after flying in to Taipei the same day and didn’t feel like it was too much walking at all. Of course be mindful of the season you are in and prepare accordingly for warmth and/or rain, but all and all it was a great experience that I would recommend!

Cornelia was a great guide, providing insightful details about Taipei and night markets that we wouldn’t have otherwise known. The food stalls on the tour covered a wide range of items. Come hungry — while I didn’t love it all, I enjoyed the group and the experience, and left full. Visiting 7-eleven was one of the highlights — learned a lot and now have some new favorites from my already fav food source in Asia.

Cornelia was a great tour guide! Easy to coordinate with, plenty of tasty food, and overall good company. Highly recommend :)

Very fun tour, and you do eat at a Michelin shop. Cordelia was lovely and enjoyed sharing dinner with other travelers.

A wonderful way to navigate a night market while asking questions to a local and try lots of different local food!

Bessy was such an incredible tour guide! I’d recommend bringing a little extra cash for snake wine and convenience store snacks that are not included but so fun to try

We met in area 20 min before it started. Luckily the guide sent a pix of the area we were to met. Intros were made of the group cept for us 4. Comments were made we looked like locals trying to horn in for free. It was embarrassing. Guide finally recognized our delimma and apologized and took charge and made sure we prepaid. And we went bout our way delightfully.-

The guide was fun and enthusiastic! I enjoyed trying many new foods. It was a very enjoyable and helpful introduction to the night markets and Taiwan food

Eddie is a great guide , she is funny , well spoken and very knowledgeable about the area and food. She truly shares her passion for her culture with you . She gives you a brief recipe of the dish you are trying and even some nice stories from her childhood snacks haha . The trip to 7/11 was also very fun ! You will leave extremely full both in your tummy and heart .

Firstly be VERY hungry, I've never had so much food, great variety of tastings and fascinating tour of the market, can't say I liked where we met with the homeless and Hobos all around, Violet was very informative and interesting, overall great tour, however the food can be messy and I ended up with food all over my jeans due to cramped conditions when trying to eat, which is standing and sitting, perhaps wipes could be issued as it is difficult to eat, often standing up, certainly got to taste some local food but will never try stinky tofu again, that smell will remain with us!

Maybe I had too high expectations from the many other food tours I have been on. It was an not so pleasant mix of rushing from one place to another and then a long, silent wait until everyone had their food/we were seated. But also our guide didn't show much knowledge. For example, when a person with allergy asked what was in the sauce, she said it was homemade. There was no further information about that. Even basic other questions about the food (what's in it, how it's made) were only answered rudimentarily (-it is fish, when someone asked what fish we are eaing). I'm also used to being told something about the culture, traditions or the city on tours like this. Nothing like that unfortunately. The food was pretty OK, but I could have bought it myself for a fraction of the price of this tour. I think the tour is for people who are afraid to go out alone and are happy when someone speaks for them and shows them the way, but don't expect to get any more in-depth information.

Great night tour around market with all questions answered, and many samples to try. Tour guide was welcoming and warm.
Shauna_W, Feb 2025
Many foods to try which was fun. Our tour guide Roro was great. I found the price a bit high compared to other food tours I’ve done but it’s a good way to experience the culture of different countries.

I was anxious to go .. it we were staying 20 minutes away by taxi and it was raining.i messaged the tour company 2 times asking if it still went since it was raining ..we didn’t want to take a taxi there and back if it was cancelled. All I received was an automated response reference the starting point
Jennifer_E, Jan 2025
It was fun and adventurous! It was enough food for me, but I am a fairly petite woman. Men and those with larger appetites might need more. If you're not used to spicy, don't get the spicy options. :) The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a good introduction to how the markets work and basic foods!

Don't miss this tour on your visit to Taipei! Tâilé is a wonderful guide, knowledgable, engaging and eminently likable - you'll have the best time exploring the culinary treasure troves that are the city's night markets and convenience stores. Even if you don't (yet!) love snack foods and 7Elevens as much as we (husband, 15-yo & I) do, this tour will convert you, both because they are objectively an incredibly good food choice and, more importantly, because you'll be roaming the streets with the best guide you could hope for.
