What To Expect
After making your way across Sydney Harbour, you have two transport options to arrive at the main entrance of the zoo at the top of the hill. Either hop on the complimentary shuttle bus or the Sky Safari gondola. The gondola glides over the animal enclosures, providing a preview of the orangutans, Asian elephants, and other critters from above. When you arrive at the entrance, meet your zoo keeper guide and begin your Wild Australia tour.
During your tour, you get to meet a number of animals and take a peek into the inner workings of the zoo. Stop at a zoo kitchen and learn how the staff prepares meals for the critters’ various diets. Follow your guide into the restricted area at the Australian Nightlife exhibit to observe nocturnal creatures that are difficult to spot in the wild. Explore the world of kangaroos, wallabies, and emus; pose for photos with koalas inside their enclosure; and learn about wildlife habitat and conservation projects from your expert guide. Discover the iconic creatures of Australia, including echidnas, platypus, wombats, and bilbies as you explore the zoo on this fascinating tour.
After your tour, enjoy complimentary light refreshments at the zoo’s Harbourview Cafe, which boasts spectacular views over Sydney Harbour Bridge and beyond. You’ll also receive a souvenir gift and have the rest of the day to explore Taronga Zoo at your leisure.

We had a great tour of the Toranga Zoo. Zoo keeper Paul was wonderful. We had close encounters with several Australian native animals. We learned a lot. We highly recommend this tour. You can’t go wrong.

If you want to learn all about Australian animals, this is definitely the tour for you. Our guide Tony was outstanding! And seeing several animals up close (koalas, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, and several others) were the absolute highlight of our day! A must do if you come to Sydney!

This was a great experience, our guide (Rob) was awesome, he has worked at the zoo for many years and his knowledge and love for the animals was amazing,
Unfortunately for us, the zoo is too large to see everything in one visit and we only had the one day for a visit, perhaps a return trip will be required

Not great. Sky safari cable car down for maintenance, no zoo kitchen, no afternoon tea ans cupcakes, trouble getting admittance to zoo. All that being said the women who took us around to the Australian animals was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed her tour. Wish we had her for 4 hours.

What a fun tour! Tim the Zookeeper was engaging and allowed us to feed kangaroos, emus, bilbys and tasmanian devils! We got to get up close and personal with koalas as well. We got to go behind the scenes and learn so much about how the zoo cares for these animals. Highly recommend!

An absolutely beautiful zoo, even though a number of the animals were unavailable for viewing. The behind-the-scenes experience was well worth the cost. Our guide was informative, and very entertaining. Particularly enjoyed learning about "Drop Bears"! Highly recommend to all.

We had the nicest visit to the Taronga zoo. We had the absolute best zoo keeper Holly, who spent a few hours with us going through the Australian animals at the zoo. We met so many of the animal residents, got to touch them and take pictures. I would recommend this tour to anyone that want a to learn about the behind the scenes information about the Australian animals.

This was an amazing experience! We had a remarkable zoo keeper who gave us many exceptional behind the scenes with the many unusual and diverse animals there. The facility is exceptional, and we learned a great deal of new information about these wonderful animals. Best zoo ever! Best tour ever!

This was our favorite activity in Sydney for our family of 4 including 2 teens, 12 and 14 who are difficult to please. Love the in depth information from an experienced tour guide. Had the opportunity to get hands on experience with several native Australian animals. Highly recommend as it is worth the extra fees.

We got to the zoo and they seemed to be concerned what to do with us. There was confusion with our reservation thru Viator and the group was already full. They offered to send us with volunteers on a different behind the scenes tour and we accepted. The volunteers were great and we did enjoy the tour but it was not what we had originally booked. I am not sure if this was a Viator or zoo issue but the zoo did try to make amends.

This behind the scenes tour was amazing. It focused on Aussie animals. I was the only one on the tour so I was able to spend considerable time with the koalas and kangaroos, as well as in the nocturnal area.

The entry to the zoo was an unpleasant experience as 3 different people gave us 3 different directions to go in which was very frustrating. Once the tour started it was fabulous. Very interesting and enlightening. I would highly recommend the behind the scenes tour.

Can't hold or touch the Koalas, but we were basically face to face. Stroked an echidna! Excellent guide showing most Aussie animals where general public can't go. We finished up donating and adopting a Koala. Definately do this tour.
