Overview

Up your chances of seeing the Northern Lights on a small-group adventure tour in Abisko National Park—an area famed for its clear skies. Following a carefully researched itinerary, the tour uses three methods to hunt for the Northern Lights: on foot, by 4x4 van, or a snowmobile-drawn sleigh. Use a provided DSLR camera and tripod to capture the starry skies; just bring your own SD card. Hotel pickup is now included for added convenience.

What's Included

  • Heavy duty arctic boots are available to rent during our tours.
  • SD memory cards to be used in our cameras. We recommend a minimum of 4 GB of storage space. Memory cards are also available for purchase if needed (32 GB: 250 SEK).

Pick up times All hotels in Abisko: 7:30-7:45 PM (please be in the lobby of your hotel by 7:30 PM) All hotels in Björkliden: 7:10 PM Return time earliest 11:30 PM, may be later depending on aurora activity.

We had a fantastic tour with Fabian & Ane. We were taken on a sledge to a location where it was completely dark. We were instructed how to set up the cameras and how to best capture the lights. The guides were very nice and knowledgeable on the topic. Definitely recommended! 😊

It didn't live up the expectations

The tour was fine but not as they sell it. It was not a small group of 8, we where 15 people. There was not hot drink and snacks all the night but just at the end for 10/15 minutes. We went to a spot right behind the STF touristation hostel, so it was the same as going out of the hostel alone. The guides were nice and they helped us to set the cameras. But if you are in the hostel with a camera, I'll not recomend this activity.

This was a great experience. Our guide was great and very helpful - we were lucky to capture the northern lights :) Don't forget to bring your own SD card!!

I went with my nephew and we had a marvelous experience, even though at first we couldnt see them we got to make snowmans and do light painting, and even better, thanks to our guides Gavin and Fèlix and their determination we actually got to take some photos of them

Great staff but Ho Hum experience

It was cloudy which of course they have nothing to do with weather. However, when it’s that bad, they should give you the option to reschedule or give your money back. I got much better pictures for free staying at my Airbnb. When the winner is blowing that hard and you just see a couple of muted greens I think they should say you can come back the next night or two since this was a bust. The staff were very friendly, which is why I rated it a four star, but I would never do this again. I took much better pictures on my iPhone. You do not have to spend a fortune to see the lights. They are free.

Amazing Life Time Experience!

My guide Michelle is really nice and helpful. She helped us all to set everything up and ensure that every one of us can get nice photos. She also did some lights tricks with the photos which were really fun. She was really informative. She told us a lot of stories about Lapland and aurora. I would really recommend people joining this trip!

Not worth it

Obviously, the guide can’t control if we see the Northern Lights. But I expected a little more than setting up a tripod in the snow and standing for 3 hours in the same location taking pictures of clouds & truck lights. I thought we would move locations for variety. The campfire and juice were nice.

Expensive trip not worth the price

We spent almost 600 euro for four person without Arora light which feel very costly . The company should have flexibility with the trip if the chance are very low , they should have possibility to reschedule

Tolles Erlebnis (leider ohne Polarlichter)

Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß bei unserer Aurora-Jagd, obwohl wir leider keine Polarlichter gesehen haben (aber das kann man nun mal nicht garantieren und das war uns durchaus bewusst). Wir sind zuerst mit dem Auto zu einem zugefrorenen See gefahren und haben dort im Schneesturm einen lustigen Ausflug aufs Eis gemacht. Anschließend sind wir zurück nach Abisko gefahren, um in der Nähe des Tipis, in dem man sich am Feuer aufwärmen konnte, unsere Kameras zu platzieren und auf eventuelle Nordlichter zu warten. Da diese in dieser Nacht nicht auftauchten, haben wir zumindest ein paar Spaßbilder (mit Stirnlampen etc.) geschossen. Unser Guide Fabian war sehr bemüht und hat uns sehr viel Interessantes über die Polarlichter erzählt.
